“If you believe what you like in the Gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the Gospel you believe, but yourself.”

This comment on the piece about Bishop Tobin refusing to attend a governor's inauguration ceremony illustrates the effeminacy of much of our episcopacy:
This statement says it all when it comes to the approach of many of the Church, “I should add, though, that in conscience, it would always be a problem for me personally to attend the inauguration of any public official who promotes or supports abortion, *which we consider* to be a very grave moral evil.” (said the bishop)
The "which we consider" clause is the downfall of this statement. The Catholic, Universal Church should always say that abortion is "a very grave moral evil" *for all*. (The Church does reveal that abortion is *intrinsically* evil, for goodness sakes.)
I am sad to say I had even missed the worrying language used, so used have I become to modernist-talk. It is good of the good bishop to take a stance, but it's indicative of what is wrong in the Church today that even when a bishop does the right thing, he almost feels the need to excuse himself for it. Another comment gets to the gist of it:
Well, Tobin did the least he could do. And I mean the least.
So, where's the enforcement of Canon 915? He won't attend the inauguration, but he'll let her profane the sacrament at her parish. Where's the love for Jesus? And, as you point out, he reinforces Raimondo by letting her daughter serve at the altar.
And he's one of the better bishops in the US. Good by comparison, but objectively speaking not. The bar for bishops is Claret, de Sales, Anthanasius.... Those are good bishops. How does Tobin really measure up?

Fr. Kloster. Inside the monstrance and tabernacle is Jesus, God Almighty, not His Name. Jesus and His Name are two different realities.
