I for one like Mel Gibson, perhaps as much because of as in spite of his flaws. We have in him someone who has put his own sweat and money into spreading the Holy Catholic faith, and one who refuses to accept politically correct notions in favour of sticking to the faith.
The good Fr. John Hunwicke has a very good brief attach on the notion that the pope is above Church law. He completely rejects the notion, as do I. It is not a Catholic position and is indeed a caricature of both the words of Christ and the papal office itself.
