Thanks to a recent tip from an anonymous source, STOPP was able to view grant contracts between Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services and Planned Parenthood of Michigan for 2024-2025, confirming just how much this Planned Parenthood affiliate received from DHHS for its “services” and programs. These contracts also show that through Michigan’s DHHS, Michigan residents are the ones actually funding Planned Parenthood, whether they would consent to it or not. But what did these grants go to exactly? STOPP examined each document, so you don’t have to, and provided our summaries below:
Grant #1: Michigan DHHS granted PPMI a total of $329,776 to implement its “Taking Pride in Prevention” program in East and West Michigan cities for students ages 12-19. This contract, which ends September 30, 2025, seeks Planned Parenthood’s services using the sex ed program “Making Proud Choices!” in “teen pregnancy prevention.” The agreement specifies Planned Parenthood’s purpose to teach students about condom and other contraceptive use, should students decide they want to engage in sex (Reminder, this program begins for children age 12!). Though Michigan’s DHHS’s special provisions state that PPMI cannot provide abortions, abortion counseling, or referrals to students, it says nothing about providing information about abortion to students.
REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.
Grant #2: Michigan DHHS granted PPMI a twice-revised contract, adding a higher grant to PPMI each time for its “Family Planning Services.” The initial contract granted $12,754,051 to this Planned Parenthood program but increased to a total of $14,798,008 in the current contract. Though abortion is not mentioned in any of the three drafts of this contract due to DHHS’ contractual compliance with Title X, it does explicitly state that PPMI can provide contraception as part of the purpose of the grant: “The focus of the program is to ensure statewide access to high-quality, client-centered reproductive health care services, including a broad range of contraception, and related preventive health services for individuals and couples to achieve their reproductive goals for family size, spacing of their children, or pregnancy prevention at low or no cost.”
STOPP speculates that PPMI provides information on abortion as part of this grant because, through Title X’s “exception” clause “a Title X provider is permitted to provide nondirective pregnancy counseling, including counseling on abortion, but is not permitted to provide referrals for abortion as a method of family planning. Thus, there is no problem if the Title X provider is providing nondirective pregnancy counseling, even if that counseling includes nondirective counseling on abortion. It may not, however, provide a referral for abortion as a method of family planning.”
Grant #3: Through its Critical Medication Reserve grant, Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services gave PPMI $2,072,000 to provide mifepristone, otherwise known as the abortion pill, to those who seek it. (Note: Because this is not within a “family planning” grant, it does not include the same Title X clause on abortion but instead follows under HHS’ Medicaid program.) Even though mifepristone’s sole function is to starve the preborn baby to death by cutting off progesterone, the purpose of this contract with PPMI states: “The focus of the program is to ensure that individuals in Michigan do not lose access to a critical pharmaceutical product, which has been safely used in miscarriage management and the medical termination of pregnancy for decades” (emphasis added).
These grants continue to show the outrageous profit the supposed “nonprofit” Planned Parenthood earns to kill both the souls and lives of the preborn. While four of its abortion facilities recently closed (all pill abortions), Planned Parenthood of Michigan is hardly short on financial help for its continuous child killing and its perverted “education” on sex and family planning.
STOPP encourages our supporters in Michigan specifically to act and respectfully express concern about Michigan’s DHHS grants to Planned Parenthood. For more information on how to contact MDHHS, visit michigan.gov/mdhhs/contact-mdhhs. Your taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund abortion, contraception, and Planned Parenthood.

Site: Zero HedgeHawaii Becomes First State To Charge Tourists For Carbon FootprintTyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 16:40
Hawaii became the first U.S. state to establish a climate impact fee on tourism this week, placing an additional tax on visitors to fund "climate change resiliency projects". As the country's inaugural "Green Fee," Act 96 will raise the state's current transient accommodations tax (TAT) by 0.75% for a total of 11% placed upon the nightly lodging rate, effective Jan. 1, 2026, according to a press release by Governor Josh Green's office.
“Today Hawaiʻi ushers in the first Green Fee in the nation. Once again, Hawaiʻi is at the forefront of protecting our natural resources, recognizing their fundamental role in sustaining the ecological, cultural and economic health of Hawaiʻi. As an island chain, Hawaiʻi cannot wait for the next disaster to hit before taking action. We must build resiliency now, and the Green Fee will provide the necessary financing to ensure resources are available for our future,” said Governor Green.
Green is ostensibly referring to the disastrous Maui fires in 2023 which did $5.5 billion in property damage and became an international embarrassment for the Hawaiian state government. Of course, as we reported at the time, the fires had nothing to do with "climate change" and everything to do with the state's gross mismanagement of water resources and fire response.
The new Green Fee will apply to travelers staying in hotels, short-term vacation rentals and for the first time ever, cruise ships. For a nightly hotel rate of $300, the tax would add an extra $2.25 each day. This might not seem like much, but Hawaiian officials expect the tax to generate up to $100 million per year, and like all progressive governments, they are licking their chops over the possibilities.
In essence, carbon footprint schemes are a tax on an invisible byproduct with an imaginary climate impact. These are taxes to solve a problem which does not exist. So, the sky is truly the limit on how far carbon taxes can be taken to bleed the American public and fuel further government expansion. It begins with a tax on hotel rooms, but there's nothing stopping the state from adding the same fees to everything from boat rentals to tiki torches.
Furthermore, if Hawaiian residents think they will be spared from such taxes, they are in for a rude awakening. The new Green Fee also applies to people living in Hawaii who stay at hotels and resorts, and there's little doubt that more taxes are incoming as the Green Fee sets the precedent. Some legislators have pushed for carbon tax "kickback" to residents of the state, but this would represent a minimal offset if carbon taxes spread to all areas of the economy.
Keep in mind, Hawaii already has one of the highest tax burdens for citizens in the entire US.
Hawaii's carbon reduction plans call for a 70% cut in emissions by 2030, using a "phased-in system" with a carbon tax rate of $80 per ton of carbon emissions by that year. Hawaii want zero emissions by 2045. Meaning, a green fee on hotels is just the beginning and everything with a carbon footprint will ultimately be taxed into oblivion.
As we have noted many times, there is zero concrete evidence of a causation relationship between carbon emissions and climate change. All climate models used by scientists in the field to justify their global warming claims rely on data collected from the 1880s onward. That's a tiny window of 140 years in the Earth's climate history and conveniently ignores long term data from before the advent of human industry.
When we examine Earth's temperatures over millions of years, it's easy to see that modern civilization exists in one of the coldest periods, not the warmest. Numerous warming periods have occurred in the past with no human activity to cause the events.
And, if we look at the behavior of the carbon content of the Earth's atmosphere over this same time period, it's obvious that there is no correlation between rising carbon and rising temperatures.
In other words, the entire basis for carbon taxation has been debunked. The only reason governments continue to push for emissions fees is because they know a large percentage of the population isn't aware of this information. Government and NGO funded climate scientists continue to spread disinformation on global warming because they have access to billions upon billions of dollars in grant money if they promote the narrative. The farce is simply far too lucrative to abandon.

“Women’s reproductive health is about our life,” Obama said. “It’s about this whole complicated reproductive system that the least of what it does is produce life.”
Michelle Obama says the least important thing a woman’s reproductive system does is produce life…

Forget the reality that all humanity would go extinct, without the reproductive system fulfilling its main purpose… which is to create more life.
Instead, she asserts it’s about “about OUR life.” By “our,” she means women like her. But that’s the typical abortionist mindset of leftists, who align with their ideology in the first place, because it preaches selfishness in the name of “empowerment.”
Obama lamented that “a lot of male religious leaders think about the issue of ‘choice,’ as if it’s just about the fetus, the baby.”
In more honest words, she doesn’t see pre-born babies as human, and therefore, believes it’s justified to murder them. Her own materialist aspirations trump the child’s choice to live.
“So many men have no idea what women go through,” whined the poor, downtrodden first lady who maintains a $70 million net worth for doing nothing but bloviate all day.
Being her is just so tough!

Next month, three full years will have passed since the U.S. Supreme Court reversed the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. In that time, there has been no shortage of drama. Protests have taken place outside the homes of justices of the court. An attempted assassination was turned away at one justice’s home, and the perpetrator has pled guilty. In 2024, 10 states voted on ballot questions regarding abortion, seven of which resulted in state constitutional protection for a more or less unlimited right to abortion up to birth.
The Republican Party has largely muted its opposition to legal abortion, diluting its multi-decade national pro-life platform planks. An effort launched by the national Democratic Party to make abortion legal to term everywhere and a centerpiece of its 2024 campaign for the White House went down in flames with Kamala Harris. Now in office, President Trump has proceeded to restore a number of policies barring abortion funding, but further actions — like defunding Planned Parenthood, securing safeguards or other limits on abortion pill distribution, and protecting pain-capable unborn children federally — remain up in the air.
Thematically, the Trump administration continues to insist that abortion is a matter for state policy determination. The political aim may be in the process of realization, as discussions of abortion have become less frequent at the national level. Three years in, however, the status of abortion in the United States post-Dobbs is taking shape, if not yet an established trend. The truth appears to be that while Roe v. Wade has been reversed, the effects of Roe have scarcely been touched.

That is the main finding of a new and exhaustive study* of U.S. abortion numbers released by Mia Steupert, M.A., of the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI). Anyone who has studied abortion data knows that it can be an exercise in deep frustration. The federal system in America has many advantages, but national data collection and interpretation are not among them. For decades, the reports of the leading private abortion data collector, the Guttmacher Institute, showed totals 30% higher than the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) abortion surveillance reports, which trailed several years behind the coverage period. The Guttmacher reports were more detailed but nonetheless covered only what abortion businesses were willing or able to share. Comparisons year over year and reporting of abortion complications were topic areas not easily susceptible to tracking.
For various reasons, irrespective of Dobbs, these tasks have become even more difficult in the past several years, challenges the Steupert paper seeks to address. As before, national abortion reporting is voluntary. Existing state reports are not uniform. But in recent years, certain numbers have become more elusive. Several states have relaxed or rescinded their abortion reporting requirements. The Food and Drug Administration dropped its mandatory reporting of non-fatal abortion injuries after the use of the mifepristone-misoprostol regimen. An ever-growing percentage of abortions are taking place at home and/or utilizing abortion pills obtained via the mail or other delivery systems. Advance provision is taking place, both privately and in some cases via state governments, so that procurement of abortion drugs does not necessarily mean that they were consumed and an abortion occurred. A small, but nonetheless meaningful, number of abortions are chemically initiated but fail or are reversed medically. Policies change year after year so mifepristone, for example, may be prescribed later in pregnancy. As always, injuries occurring in the process of abortion, whether at a brick-and-mortar facility or in a bathroom, are treated in third-party facilities and may elude data capture.
A proper response to this situation would be for Congress and the new administration to overhaul the statutes and policies regarding data collection on this and other issues. The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the CDC is the prime collector and analyst of health statistics for the U.S. and is currently wrestling with the Office of Management and Budget over a variety of large datasets it says have been taken offline and are unavailable to the public. Restoring those datasets would be valuable, but more needs to be done, including improving the comprehensiveness and timeliness of data on health and social concerns.
The Steupert paper strives to utilize existing analyses by groups that favor legal abortion and have privileged access to the nation’s 777 (by CLI’s count) brick-and-mortar abortion facilities that offer drug-induced or surgical abortions. CLI also found that drugs to induce abortion are currently made available by some 142 U.S.-based groups or centers and via an additional eight websites or organizations it describes as “operating outside the formal U.S. health care system.”
The lead statistic for the report comes from the Society for Family Planning, a self-described advocacy group connected with academic institutions like the University of California-San Francisco and the University of Pittsburgh that makes research grants to a variety of academic institutions. The data show 1,121,450 abortions were carried out from July 2023 through June 2024 inside the formal health care system, with many thousands more self-managed abortions outside that system, including some carried out with imported abortion drugs.
The increase is disturbing, but it represents a trend, Steupert notes, that predates the Dobbs ruling. Abortions not only increased in the second full year since the decision but have risen 11% since 2020. Abortion totals in the United States dropped markedly, and steadily, between 1990 and 2018, when the current upturn began and continued through the second half of the first Trump administration and the Biden administration. Data shows that states that have protected the unborn by statute, like Texas and Florida, have seen sharp reductions in reported abortions, but overall counts have been driven upward by a variety of legal developments and industry practices. Steupert writes:
“The hypothesis that total abortions would inevitably decrease post-Dobbs did not account for the questionable legal strategies pro-abortion states were willing to implement which only exposed and exploited loopholes in pro-life laws. From taking advantage of the FDA’s pre-Dobbs decision to allow mail-order telehealth abortions with no in-person requirement, to shipping abortion drugs into pro-life states from pro-abortion states under shield laws, to deeming certain states ‘abortion havens,’ pro-abortion states have circumvented the inability of women in pro-life states to obtain brick-and-mortar abortions.” [citations omitted]
Steupert also notes, and other analysts agree, that the data does not suggest that the Dobbs ruling has not saved lives — abortion totals might be higher had the Supreme Court not decided as it did. The shift from in-clinic abortions to self-induced procedures, combined with relentless campaigns that assert that abortion pills are safer than Tylenol, may have been enough on their own over the past decade to make abortion seem like another form of Plan B. Blurring the two has long been a social policy objective of the industry. The direct response to that must come from women’s own and acknowledged adverse experiences with the pills, combined with new efforts to gather and assess clinical data on the aftermath of abortions conducted at home, including psychological sequelae.
One other implication exists. Advocates of abortion desire to go one step further than making abortion a state issue; they wish to make it an unobserved, non-issue. While three years out from the Dobbs ruling isn’t long, it is already becoming clear that the absence of federal action, including regarding abortion drugs and the range of needed family and maternal support, limits what individual states can do to check a shielded, and medically lawless, abortion industry. Making America healthy again without affirming the value of every mother and baby’s life will be very difficult indeed.
*As former president of Charlotte Lozier Institute, I was asked to review the draft paper and made several comments but did not otherwise contribute to its analysis or conclusions.

I just completed a speaking tour in British Columbia where I had speaking engagements in Vernon, Kelowna, Salmon Arm and Vancouver – four speaking engagements in four days.
While in Vancouver I visited St Paul’s Hospital to see the (MAiD) euthanasia clinic that was imposed on it by the British Columbia (BC) provincial government – Ministry of Health.
The Euthanasia (MAiD) clinic was opened in January 2025 and is known as the Shoreline Space (green building). It looked like a euthanasia killing was happening while I was outside the door.
You may remember that on June 27, 2023 I reported that the euthanasia lobby was pressuring the BC government to force Catholic hospitals to provide euthanasia.
LifeNews is on GETTR. Please follow us for the latest pro-life news.
The euthanasia lobby used the story of Samantha O’Neill (34) who died by euthanasia (MAiD) on April 4, 2023. O’Neill requested euthanasia at St Paul’s hospital. Since St Paul’s did not provide euthanasia they transferred Samantha from St Paul’s to St. John’s hospice (run by Vancouver Coastal Health) to die by euthanasia.
On December 1, 2023 I reported that in response to the pressure from the euthanasia lobby the BC government expropriated property from Providence Health (St Paul’s) to build a euthanasia killing center next to St Paul’s in Vancouver in response to the complaint that palliative care patients did not have access to euthanasia at St Paul’s hospital.
In May 2024, I went to Germany to speak at a conference. While in Germany I visited three of the T-4 euthanasia memorials. I first visited the Grafeneck euthanasia memorial since it was the first of the T-4 euthanasia centres. 10,654 people (primarily people with disabilities) reportedly were gassed to death at Grafeneck.
A little bit of information about Grafeneck.
In 1928, Grafeneck castle came into the possession of the Samaritan Foundation (Samariterstiftung), a charitable arm of the German Lutheran Church. The foundation established a care facility for male patients with disabilities at Grafeneck in 1929.
In October 1939, the German government expropriated the Grafeneck castle property from the Lutheran Samaritan Foundation and transformed Grafeneck from a Lutheran care facility into the first centralized killing center within Aktion T4 (Nazi Euthanasia Program).
Grafeneck was the first functioning T4 killing center. Its operations commenced on January 18, 1940. Twenty-five male patients arrived from the Eglfing-Haar facility in Munich that day. Dr. Schumann personally escorted them to the old coach house where Schumann gassed them to death in the newly constructed gas chamber. From this date until December 1940, people were killed by gassing on an almost daily basis, excluding Sundays and holidays.
I am not suggesting that the BC government is planning to empty care homes by busing the residents to the Shoreline Space for killing.
I am stating that when the BC government expropriated property from Providence health and built a euthanasia killing center that is attached to St Paul’s hospital that they were repeating one of the ugliest parts of human history.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has adopted a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan—disclosed in the chipmaker's 10-Q filing—to sell up to 6 million shares by year-end. The move comes as Nvidia shares trade near record highs, following a solid first-quarter earnings beat and an upbeat outlook.
CEO Jensen Huang established his trading plan in March, outlining the sale of up to 6 million shares by December 31, 2025. The same filing also revealed that Director Brooke Seawell intends to sell 1.53 million shares under the trading plan expiring July 31, 2025, while CFO Colette Kress plans to sell 500,000 shares by March 24, 2026.
The trading plan was announced with Nvidia's stock trading near all-time highs, following a strong Q1 2025 earnings beat and an optimistic outlook. Rule 10b5-1 plans are designed to allow insiders to sell shares on a predetermined schedule, thereby helping to alleviate concerns over trading on material non-public information.
Bloomberg data shows Huang's insider activity over the last 5.5 years...
The data also shows that Huang is Nvidia's fifth-largest shareholder, holding about 3.52% of the company's outstanding shares—equivalent to around 859.6 million shares as of mid-March.
Nvidia's solid first-quarter earnings underscore the sustained strength of AI demand, with one U.S. data center financier characterizing the current environment as a "sprint" expected to continue through President Trump's second term.

“For the children.” That is a go-to justification for politicians and bureaucrats seeking to infringe on individual rights. It was on display last week in the final minutes of the testimony of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Marty Makary before a subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Makary was exaggerating the extent of vaping among high school students and saying that the addiction to vaping among “kids in America” is “something that we have to address” and a “top priority” for Donald Trump’s presidential administration.
Makary comments bring to mind the scare stirred up about marijuana decades back, including through the 1930s movie Reefer Madness now enjoyed by many for its over-the-top fearmongering in regard to the plant. And, yes, the movie’s focus too was on the children.
As marijuana legalization continues to progress in America, vaping has increasingly become a target for government-enforced restrictions on people both young and old. Makary and his cohort of nanny statists are determined to combat their hyped-up vaping threat that, as the Reefer Madness trailer put it for marijuana, is a “new and deadly menace .. with its roots in hell.”
Jacob Sullum, in a Monday Reason article you can read here, provided details regarding Makary’s comments and how they conflict with President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to “save vaping.”

French “neo-fascists” are fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman
French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements in support of the Ukraine peace process are not credible, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
In a Telegram post on Friday, Zakharova cited a recent France Info article about a Ukrainian intelligence unit known as the ‘International Revenge’ tactical group, where foreign fighters, including French nationals, are training for frontline operations.
French citizens “were taken aback by a blunt publication” that the country’s soldiers are already “serving the Kiev regime,” Zakharova wrote.
According to the report, the unit includes both civilians and military personnel from France. Some told the outlet they had already been deployed to the front.
Zakharova pointed to what she described as the unit’s neo-Nazi ideology, saying that its name was no coincidence.
“The group’s symbols bear all the hallmarks of neo-Nazi revanchism,” she wrote, citing skull insignias, dark imagery, and the Latin slogan ‘Memento Audere Semper’ (‘Remember to dare always’). The motto is known to have been used by Italian fascist and Mussolini ally Gabriele D’Annunzio in reference to the MAS, or ‘Motoscafo Armato Silurante’ – a class of fast torpedo boats used by the Italian Royal Navy in both World Wars.
“These French revanchist neo-fascists are not even hiding,” Zakharova added. “They openly talk about coming from France to fight Russians “without sparing bullets” and say they hope to one day face Russia in battle.”
Read moreNeo-Nazism on the rise in Europe – Kremlin
Zakharova said the revelations cast doubt on Macron’s talk of commitment to the peace process.
France has provided more than €3.7 billion ($4.1 billion) in military aid to Ukraine since the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, according to the Kiel Institute.
Macron has advocated deploying French troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace deal between Kiev and Moscow, arguing that it could help deter Russia. In March, he announced a French-British plan to prepare such a “reassurance force” in the event of a ceasefire. The announcement sparked protests in Paris against what demonstrators called NATO’s militaristic stance.
Moscow has repeatedly warned it will not accept any NATO presence in Ukraine, citing the military bloc’s expansion in Europe as a core reason for the conflict.
Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Istanbul on May 16 for their first formal talks since 2022. The meeting led to the largest prisoner exchange to date and an agreement to draft written proposals ahead of the next round of talks, which Russia proposed for June 2.

Detectives said White’s vehicle had a broken window and blood inside, presumably from a cut. Austin police said Kia cars have become frequent targets in Austin due to a flawed security system that makes them easier to steal.
Austin Police Detective Jason Jones said the suspects were tracked through a stolen vehicle they drove to White’s residence. Investigators relied on the car’s data, cellphone signal records and license plate reader scans to locate the suspects, according to KVUE.

Update (1500ET): If ever there was a day which exposed the markets' sensitivity to China trade policy - it was today as an early rebuke by Trump was followed by threats of new sanctions and then an optimistic tone: “I’m sure that I’ll speak to President Xi and hopefully we’ll work that out,”
* * *
Update (1230ET): So much for the TACO trade...
Trump came out swinging early (as we detailed below) and has now followed up with an upper cut as Bloomberg reports, the Trump administration plans to broaden restrictions on China’s tech sector with new regulations to capture subsidiaries of companies under US curbs.
Officials are drafting a rule that would impose US government licensing requirements on transactions with companies that are majority-owned by already-sanctioned firms, according to people familiar with the matter.
The subsidiary rule — which applies a 50% ownership threshold in relation to companies on the Entity List, Military End-User list and Specially Designated Nationals list — could be unveiled as soon as June, said the people, who asked not to be named to discuss private deliberations.
The people emphasized that the contents and timing of the rule and related sanctions are not yet finalized and could still change.
After the rule is published, the US is likely to move forward with new sanctions on major Chinese companies, the people said.
So trade policy uncertainty is about to skyrocket again

Following earlier comments by TsySec Bessent that trade talks with China had "stalled", President Trump took to social media to explain his position:
Two weeks ago China was in grave economic danger!
The very high Tariffs I set made it virtually impossible for China to TRADE into the United States marketplace which is, by far, number one in the World.
We went, in effect, COLD TURKEY with China, and it was devastating for them.
Many factories closed and there was, to put it mildly, "civil unrest."
I saw what was happening and didn’t like it, for them, not for us. I made a FAST DEAL with China in order to save them from what I thought was going to be a very bad situation, and I didn’t want to see that happen.
Because of this deal, everything quickly stabilized and China got back to business as usual.
Everybody was happy! That is the good news!!!
The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!
The reaction was swift - US equity futures dumped...
And crude crashed...
So much for 'TACO'! No more Mr Nice Guy does not sound like "chickening out".
Will PCE rescue the markets?

Why has the US president decided to lift all sanctions on Damascus, and how will it shape the future of the region?
US President Donald Trump’s recent announcement that he intends to lift all sanctions on Syria stands as one of the most unexpected and controversial foreign policy moves Washington has made in the past decade.
Declared during Trump’s Middle East tour at the US-Saudi Investment Forum in Riyadh, the decision marks a dramatic shift in America’s approach to the region – one that could reshape the strategic landscape for both allies and adversaries.
The sanctions on Syria, first imposed in 1979, were progressively tightened over decades in response to accusations of sponsoring terrorism, human rights abuses, and close ties with Iran. Their full repeal is an unprecedented gesture, especially considering that Syria’s current president, Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa, was until recently regarded by the US as a senior figure in Al-Qaeda – with a $10 million bounty once placed on his capture.
In return, Damascus has made a series of strategic commitments. According to Trump, al-Sharaa has pledged to prevent the resurgence of Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS), bring all jihadist detention camps under state control, and expel all foreign terrorist formations from Syrian soil. This latter promise is particularly significant, as these militant units – many of them composed of fighters from Central Asia – played a pivotal role in the collapse of Bashar Assad’s regime and the rise of the current leadership.
Many of these same groups are also responsible for large-scale ethnic purges, including the massacres of Alawites and other religious minorities earlier this year. Thus, Trump’s proposal does more than legitimize al-Sharaa’s regime – it places on it the mantle of a regional stabilizer, albeit one whose legitimacy remains heavily disputed.
The decision to lift sanctions cannot be divorced from Washington’s broader economic and strategic interests. That the announcement came in Saudi Arabia is no coincidence – it signals a broader understanding with Riyadh, which is eager to deepen its footprint in post-conflict Syria. From the US perspective, the Syria deal is a building block in a new Middle Eastern architecture – one dominated by pro-Western governments and designed to neutralize Iranian influence.
Read moreUS moves to implement Trump’s ‘vision’ for Syria
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have long viewed Syria’s reconstruction as an opportunity to entrench themselves politically and economically. US sanctions had previously prevented them from acting overtly, and the lifting of restrictions may now be part of a grander bargain: Riyadh receives a green light to invest in Syria, while Washington secures massive financial commitments. On May 14 – the day of Trump’s announcement – Saudi Arabia signed a $142 billion arms deal with the US and pledged an additional $600 billion in American investments.
At first glance, Trump’s move might appear as a betrayal of Israeli interests – an accusation made in several media commentaries. Yet in practice, Israel gains a neighbor that, while unpredictable, is now positioned to suppress Islamist radicals within its borders. This allows it to refocus on countering Iran and Hezbollah without the added distraction of threats emanating from Syria.
The lifting of sanctions also aligns with Türkiye’s strategic goals. President Erdogan, just prior to the Trump-al-Sharaa meeting, personally urged the US president to dismantle the sanctions. Türkiye is a key partner of Syria’s new leadership but has been constrained by its own economic crisis. Moreover, the sanctions hindered Ankara’s allies – particularly Qatar – from taking part in Syria’s postwar reconstruction.
In sum, Trump’s Syrian deal represents more than just a diplomatic maneuver; it is a bold attempt to reengineer the regional balance of power. Whether it brings long-term stability or fuels new fault lines remains to be seen – but its impact on the Middle East is already unmistakable.
What lies behind this move?
The developments unfolding in Syria following the rise to power of Ahmed al-Sharaa increasingly evoke the atmosphere of 2011 – the era of the Arab Spring, when the Middle East fractured into two ideological and geopolitical camps. At the time, Türkiye and Qatar actively championed the cause of ‘political Islam’, seeking to expand their influence through the emergence of Islamist-oriented governments. In contrast, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates perceived Islamist forces as a direct threat to regional stability and the survival of their monarchical order.
Today, under al-Sharaa’s leadership, Syria once again reflects that same fault line. A sense of déjà vu looms: The region’s main players find themselves navigating renewed tensions, caught between the desire to preserve influence and the necessity of adapting to a rapidly evolving reality.
Read moreSyria facing collapse – Rubio
Ankara and Doha, both instrumental in al-Sharaa’s ascent, view his leadership as an opportunity to reclaim their diminished standing in the Levant. Despite its internal economic turmoil, Türkiye continues to position itself as a regional arbiter, relying on a network of loyal political and military actors within Syria. Qatar, for its part, is providing financial and diplomatic support, effectively replicating the strategy it previously deployed in Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia.
Yet the current landscape differs markedly from that of 2011. Al-Sharaa, though buoyed by Turkish support, has signaled a desire for greater autonomy from the outset. His first official foreign visit was not to Ankara, but to Riyadh – a symbolic gesture toward Saudi Arabia and the UAE, whose economic power is now essential for Syria’s reconstruction. It was also a clear signal that Damascus is open to dialogue, even with those who once backed the opposing side in the civil war.
For Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the resurgence of politically motivated Islamist forces is a source of deep concern, though their response has remained deliberately muted. Rather than overt confrontation, these Gulf monarchies have opted for economic engagement, believing that financial leverage will grant them influence while curbing radicalization.
They also see the new Syrian leadership as a potential partner in shaping a new Middle Eastern order – provided that Damascus does not become an instrument of Turkish expansionism. This explains al-Sharaa’s active display of ‘independent maneuvering’, as he skillfully balances between centers of power – from the Gulf to Ankara, from Washington to Moscow.
Amid this geopolitical mosaic, the US has crafted a new strategic vision. Under Trump’s leadership, US policy increasingly focuses on economic leverage and security cooperation while moving away from direct military engagement in the Middle East. Trump proposes a new model: ‘Regional self-sufficiency’ under an American umbrella.
The essence of this model is to arm and equip regional actors, enabling them to maintain stability independently, with the US acting as a supplier of advanced technology and a guarantor of balance. In return, Washington demands loyalty, political restraint, and – crucially – substantial financial contributions. This underpins the strategic alignment with Gulf monarchies, who possess the means and motivation to counterbalance Iran.
At the same time, Trump is attempting to bridge the divide between Türkiye and Israel, laying the groundwork for an economic partnership despite ideological differences. The goal is to prevent friction among US allies and to forge a unified front against Iran and other hostile forces.
Syria, in this context, becomes a testing ground for America’s new security architecture – a controlled regional equilibrium maintained without the Pentagon’s direct footprint. If successful, this model could be replicated in other crisis zones.
Read moreUS easing sanctions on Turkish defense sector – Erdogan
A potential next step is the normalization of relations between Syria and Israel – a previously unimaginable prospect, now discussed as part of a broader settlement. In parallel, Trump plans to introduce a new Middle East peace framework that includes recognition of Palestine in exchange for diplomatic and economic incentives from Arab states. This scenario may also presage political change in Israel: If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu resists the plan, centrist alternatives like Yair Lapid or Benny Gantz – more amenable to compromise – could come to the fore.
All of this unfolds against the backdrop of a fundamental reordering of US global priorities. Washington is increasingly pivoting toward the containment of China, its primary strategic rival in the 21st century. The Middle East is no longer seen as a vital sphere; the new approach favors balance over expansion, mediation over presence, partnership over intervention.
Thus, US regional strategy is evolving from rigid control to a more adaptive configuration – one in which local actors are granted greater autonomy, though still within an overarching framework engineered in Washington. Syria may well serve as the first case study of this new era – an era in which the return to the logic of 2011 unexpectedly becomes the launchpad for a very different Middle East.
Will things get better in Syria?
The US decision to lift sanctions on Syria following the rise of al-Sharaa to power marks a pivotal moment for a country that has endured over a decade of devastating war, international isolation, and socioeconomic collapse.
This move not only removes one of the most significant external constraints on the Syrian leadership, but also opens a window of opportunity to construct a new model of governance – one grounded in pragmatism, economic rationality, and cautious multilateralism.
Al-Sharaa now faces a critical choice: To use this opportunity to consolidate centralized authority and restore effective governance – or, through missteps or weakness, to allow Syria to fragment further into a collection of ethno-regional entities devoid of a unifying national project.
The World Bank has cleared over $15 million of Syrian debt, once again making the country eligible for participation in international financing programs. This development was made possible through targeted financial contributions from the Gulf states – particularly Saudi Arabia and Qatar – signaling their intention to take the lead in Syria’s reconstruction. Following this, the IMF expressed its readiness to provide technical assistance, while the Syrian authorities issued a series of statements inviting investment in agriculture, energy, transportation infrastructure, and tourism.
These actions indicate the new regime’s ambition to craft an economic model that not only addresses the war’s legacy but also generates employment, stabilizes the currency, boosts public revenues, and – most importantly – restores public trust in the institution of the state.
Read moreRussia and the Arab League can reshape the world together
However, economic recovery is only feasible if accompanied by the genuine restoration of governance.
Syria remains deeply fragmented. Kurdish regions in the northeast are governed by a de facto autonomous administration with its own armed forces and international channels. In the south, the Druze community in Suwayda exhibits growing political and organizational independence, alongside protest movements and local defense initiatives. Along the coastal regions – home to significant Alawite and Christian minorities – distrust toward centralized power continues to grow, especially amid persistent ethno-sectarian tensions. These communities, should the center weaken, may gravitate toward political separatism or at least self-organization into autonomous administrative structures.
If the al-Sharaa government fails to propose a coherent model of political integration – one that includes power-sharing, resource distribution, and the participation of regional elites in governance – Syria could enter a new phase of ‘soft disintegration’: A de facto federalization where unity is maintained in name only.
In this context, foreign policy becomes critically important. Fully aware of the dangers of unilateral alignment, Ahmed al-Sharaa is pursuing a balanced external strategy. Unlike the previous era, which was defined by dependence on a narrow circle of allies, Syria’s new president is embracing a diversified diplomatic approach. He seeks to build relations with the West and the US – especially in the context of economic recovery and Syria’s international rehabilitation – without abandoning existing strategic ties. It is within this framework that Russia remains a key partner to Syria across several strategic domains.
Russia continues to play a central role in Syria’s security architecture and diplomatic positioning, including defending Syrian interests at the UN Security Council and engaging in technical, military, and energy cooperation.
Its presence in Tartus and Khmeimim, involvement in humanitarian initiatives, and potential contributions to infrastructure reconstruction ensure its continued relevance in any long-term settlement scenario.
At the same time, Damascus under al-Sharaa is also looking to build stronger ties with other non-Western power centers – including China, India, and Brazil – while deepening economic engagement with the Arab world. This will help Syria avoid overdependence on any single actor and enhance its strategic flexibility amid global uncertainty.
This approach reflects a clear-eyed understanding of Syria’s geopolitical reality: The country can no longer afford to be part of rigid geopolitical axes. Its survival now depends on its ability to navigate between competing powers – leveraging their rivalry for national benefit without becoming anyone’s pawn. Maintaining cooperative relations with Russia and expanding dialogue with non-Western powers is not just a matter of foreign policy – it is a means of preserving autonomy in a context of limited sovereignty.
The lifting of sanctions and al-Sharaa’s ascent have opened a potential path toward stabilization. But the durability of this trajectory depends on the regime’s ability not only to harness economic resources but also to execute a complex, multi-layered political and diplomatic agenda. Domestically, this means launching mechanisms of integration and decentralization; externally, it requires deft maneuvering between Western and non-Western actors. In this evolving environment, Russia remains an important partner for Syria – not as an exclusive ally, but as a key component in the multifaceted diplomacy that al-Sharaa will seek to construct in order to reinforce not just his own authority, but the very foundations of the Syrian state.

Site: Zero HedgeWho's Programming The AI, Mr. President?Tyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 13:45
Authored by Maureen Steele via American Greatness,
President Trump’s new legislative centerpiece - the One Big Beautiful Bill - has a promising name and some compelling goals: reduce government bloat, streamline agencies, and modernize operations with cutting-edge technology.
But there’s a problem. A big one.
No one will tell us who’s programming the AI.
This sweeping bill includes a 10-year moratorium on any state or local government regulating artificial intelligence. According to The Washington Post and AP, more than 60 existing state-level laws will be overridden if this provision passes. All regulatory authority over AI—including systems that will be used in law enforcement, healthcare, defense, and finance—will be centralized in the federal government for a decade.
Even worse? The bill empowers the Department of Commerce to deploy “commercial AI” across virtually every federal agency—from the IRS to Homeland Security—according to Indian Express and The Verge.
And yet, no one in the White House or Congress has revealed who is writing the AI code, what datasets it’s trained on, whether it can be independently audited, or whether it’s bound by the U.S. Constitution.
This isn’t just a transparency issue. This is a constitutional crisis in the making.
To be clear, President Trump’s instincts here may be sound. We’ve long needed to shrink the federal leviathan and replace unconstitutional bureaucracies with systems that serve the people—not special interests.
But good intentions won’t protect us from unseen programmers, black-box algorithms, and unaccountable automation.
This bill mandates AI integration across government “to improve efficiency and security.” But efficiency isn’t liberty. Security isn’t sovereignty. And no AI—no matter how “smart”—should be allowed to rewrite, ignore, or reinterpret constitutional rights.
According to Business Insider, the AI moratorium’s stated goal is to “foster innovation” and avoid a “fragmented regulatory landscape.” In reality, it strips states of their authority to protect their citizens from deepfakes, algorithmic bias, digital censorship, and mass surveillance.
This is not governance. This is outsourced tyranny, hidden under the guise of modernization.
So let’s ask the question about what happens when AI is weaponized. If the systems being implemented were open source, transparent, built entirely on constitutional jurisprudence, and auditable by the public, we’d be having a very different conversation.
Instead, we’re facing a future where an algorithm may determine whether you’re eligible for services, a machine learning system may flag you as a “threat” based on your social media posts, and a black-box model may deny you a loan, reject your legal challenge, or freeze your bank account.
And you’ll never be told why.
You’ll never meet the person who made the decision—because there won’t be one.
And you won’t be able to sue.
Let’s not forget: AI is only as trustworthy as the data and ideology behind it. Who’s writing the rules? Google? Palantir? A Pentagon contractor? A committee of DEI officers? Are any of them being held to the Constitution?
The bill provides no clarity and no enforceable limits.
Many Americans have noticed that Trump, while visionary and bold, often surrounds himself with personnel who do not share his America First convictions.
Look no further than Susie Wiles—a long-time D.C. insider and lobbyist who acts as a gatekeeper to the former president. She’s known for blocking conservative constitutionalists from delivering vital information to Trump. The concern here is obvious: if Trump is not being properly briefed, then he may be backing legislation that completely contradicts the very values he’s trying to protect.
He’s been misled before, and this bill may be the worst example yet.
If AI is going to be deployed in government, then it must be open source—so the public can verify it—bound to the Constitution, not corporate code; audited regularly by independent, civilian-led review boards; and subject to judicial challenge if it infringes on rights.
Anything less is a betrayal of American sovereignty.
The One Big Beautiful Bill is not a harmless modernization measure. It is a potential gateway to technocratic control, where the power of law enforcement, taxation, and surveillance is handed over to machines we can’t see, question, or hold accountable.
Call your U.S. senators now. Demand: Removal of the AI moratorium. Clear constitutional guardrails and transparency, auditing, and public oversight of all AI code deployed in federal agencies.
Let them know: We are not giving the republic away to an algorithm.
This is the fight. If we lose this one, there may be no one left—human or otherwise—to fight the next.

Site: Zero HedgeWatch Live: Trump And Musk Hold Press Conference On DOGE Chief's Last DayTyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 13:25
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are holding a press conference on Musk's last day as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
"I am having a Press Conference tomorrow at 1:30 P.M. EST, with Elon Musk, at the Oval Office. This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Watch Live:
As the Epoch Times notes further, since Trump took office, Musk has led DOGE with the goal of identifying opportunities for spending and personnel cuts across the federal government amid record national debt. DOGE’s efforts have drawn criticism from Democrats and legal challenges.
Musk announced on May 28 that he planned on leaving the federal government as his 130-day term as a special government employee is ending.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk said in a post on the social media platform X.
“The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”
Musk has recently criticized the House-passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, expressing his concerns over the budget deficit.
While the bill makes sweeping cuts to federal programs like the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, and Medicaid—specifically through the imposition of more stringent income and work requirements, in addition to an increased financial burden on states to fund the entitlements—some officials have estimated that it could still negatively impact the deficit.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, the legislation could increase the deficit by $3.8 trillion over 10 years—prompting criticism from Musk and other budget hawks.
“I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said during an appearance on “CBS Sunday Morning.” “I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don’t know if it can be both.”
Trump has been outspoken in his support of the package, personally working to sway conservative critics. After Musk’s comments, the president said on May 28 “I’m not happy about certain aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by other aspects of it.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has endorsed the package, saying it would be “jet fuel for the U.S. economy.”
In response to the DOGE-related concerns, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller said in a post on X that spending cuts recommended by DOGE could only be handled through a rescissions package or appropriations bill.
The White House on May 28 confirmed it would soon send Congress a $9.4 billion request to cut spending, wrapping in several of DOGE’s suggested cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development.

An EU official has reportedly claimed that Trump wants a reset with Russia more than peace in Ukraine
EU officials are reportedly concerned that US President Donald Trump is reluctant to pressure his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, over the Ukraine conflict, according to Politico.
Earlier this week, Trump said Putin is “playing with fire” after Russia launched large-scale strikes on Ukrainian military-related facilities. The attacks came in response to a sharp increase in Kiev’s drone raids targeting civilian areas in Russia. Despite his tough rhetoric, Trump has so far held back from approving what Senator Lindsey Graham called “bone-crushing” sanctions against Moscow.
In an article on Thursday, the outlet cited an unnamed EU official who said it is “very clear there is something holding him [Trump] back from actually putting more pressure on Putin.”
“He may want the reset with Russia most of all, more than peace. If he just wants to get the war ended so he can do these deals [with Putin], then he may be weighing the cost of poisoning their potential relationship,” the source suggested.

Asked on Thursday if he still believes that Putin is interested in finding a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine conflict, Trump said: “I will let you know in about two weeks. We are going to find out whether or not he is tapping us along or not. And if he is, we will respond a little bit differently.”
According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, Trump is waiting for the outcome of potential talks between delegations from Moscow and Kiev in Istanbul on Monday.
On Thursday, Moscow’s envoy to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, reiterated Russia’s readiness to continue “serious direct negotiations” with Kiev in order to find a solution to the Ukraine conflict that addresses the root causes.

EPC is very concerned with the threat to legalize assisted suicide in the states of Illinois and New York and the expansion of assisted suicide laws, where it is already legal.
In Illinois, assisted suicide Bill SB9 passed on April 9, 2025 by a vote of 8 to 3 in the Senate Executive Committee. Bill SB9 seemed to have stalled and was renewed when it's sponsor attached the assisted suicide bill to a food preparation safety bill (SB 1950).On May 29, 2025 SB 1950 was passed in the State by a vote of 63 to 42. Bill SB 1950 may be voted-on in the Senate today or in early June.
It is ironic that a bill that enables physicians to prescribe a lethal poison cocktails to kill patients would get attached to a food preparation safety bill.In New York, assisted suicide Bill A136/S138 passed in the New York Assembly by a vote of 81 to 67 on April 29 and may soon be debated in the state Senate. We have urged supporters to contact the members of the New York State Senate and in particular the New York State Senate Health Committee (Link to Senate Health Committee).
Oregon's assisted suicide expansion Bill SB 1003 will be heard in committee next week. Oregon assisted suicide Bill SB 1003:
- Expands who can participate in assisted suicide – Right now, doctors (physicians) can prescribe lethal drugs or can be consulting providers. This bill changes the wording from "attending physician" to "prescribing provider" and "consulting physician" to "consulting provider." This bill allows nurse practitioners or physician assistants to facilitate assisted suicide.
- Requires promotion by Healthcare facilities – The bill forces hospices and hospitals to publicly disclose whether they participate in assisted suicide. Hospices must tell patients upfront and post their policies online, while other healthcare facilities must at least post their stance online. In some cases, family members have pressured vulnerable patients to participate in assisted suicide. This disclosure requirement makes it easier for patients to be directed toward facilities that will not object.
- Removes the 15-day waiting period – The current waiting period in Oregon to provides a proper evaluation prior to prescribing lethal poison drugs. The bill removes this waiting period allowing patients to be shuffled to death on demand within 48 hours.
The assisted suicide lobby has expanded existing assisted suicide legislation in nearly every state that has legalized assisted suicide.
Oregon has already allowed physicians to wave the waiting period and Oregon has eliminated the residency requirement. Vermont is permitting assisted suicide by telehealth, they are forcing medical practitioners who oppose assisted suicide to refer patients and they eliminated the residency requirement. Washington state, California, Colorado and Hawaii have also expanded their assisted suicide laws.
Once assisted suicide is legal, the assisted suicide lobby will lobby or launch court cases to expand the law. The original assisted suicide bill is designed to pass in the legislature, once passed incremental extensions will follow.

Site: Zero HedgeRiley Gaines Calls Out Male Pitcher Who Dominated Minnesota Softball State Championship
Former collegiate swimmer and conservative political activist Riley Gaines is calling out a male athlete who pretends to be a woman who carried a Minnesota girls high school softball team to a state championship.
A male athlete who goes by the name of “Marissa” Rothenberger, pitched 14 shutout innings in back to back games to defeat the defending state 4A champion softball team.
Gaines had harsh words for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz , calling him “a shameful, sorry excuse for a man” for allowing a male athlete to single handedly dominate a girl’s state championship tournament.
Last night, a man single-handedly carried his high school in Minnesota to a Class 4A Softball Championship.

Fox News reports that Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is being sued by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) which filed a lawsuit on behalf of the group Female Athletes United and three anonymous female softball players over the controversy.
Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Suzanne Beecher told Fox News Digital:
By sacrificing protection for female athletes, Minnesota fails to offer girls equal treatment and opportunity, violating Title IX’s provisions. Our client, Female Athletes United, is right to stand up for its members by challenging the state’s discriminatory policy and advocate for true equality in sports.
In response, Ellison’s office released a statement saying, “I believe it is wrong to single out one group of students, who already face higher levels of bullying and harassment, and tell these kids they cannot be on the team because of who they are. I will continue to defend the rights of all students to play sports with their friends and peers.”
The Minnesota State High School League had announced earlier this year that it would openly defy President Trump’s “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” executive order by allowing biological male athletes who are pretending to be girls to continue participating in women’s sports.
Ellison also decided to preemptively sue the Trump administration after it issued the executive order, in order to ensure that male athletes are not prevented from participating in girl’s sports.

Site: Zero HedgeDemocrats Pledge Impeachments And Prosecutions When They Return To Power
Various Democrats are promising to investigate and impeach President Donald Trump if they retake the House next year. At the same time, others are promising a scorched earth campaign against those who support Trump, including Elon Musk. Representative Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) declared this week that Musk committed crimes and will be at the top of the list.
MSNBC’s ratings may be declining but the network is escalating the unhinged rhetoric. Host Symone Sanders ominously told Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) , “Let’s talk about Elon Musk” and his “data” on waste that he identified in the federal government: “So what are Democrats going to do about the data? Are you all going to follow up on this?”
Subramanyam immediately pledged to hunt Musk down:
“… certainly, I think some crimes may have been committed over the past 3 or 4 months, and they are going to come to light one way or another, even if it takes us getting into power again, but we will subpoena people and find out.”
There is no evidence of any criminal conduct by Musk. Indeed, DOGE has largely won in its fights to gain access to records in the search for fraud and waste.
Nevertheless, after calling for Musk to be “taken down,” Democratic rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., Tx.) is also calling for Musk to be investigated over DOGE once Democrats take power.
It is otherworldly to see Democrats raising prosecution threats against the effort to reduce the size and waste of government. One can certainly be critical of some of the cuts under DOGE but few would disagree that Musk helped find billions in waste, including some shocking revelations about the inefficiencies of our government.
A former Obama aide, Rep. Subramanyam just arrived in Congress but has immediately resumed the same failed narrative. The Democrats are an example of how, if you only have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
There is a return to the same script from pledges of prosecutions to impeachments.
Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez has even reimagined the “defund the police” campaign into an “Abolish ICE” campaign.
Resisting immigration enforcement, downsizing government, and other issues are only moving the party further from the center of this country.
The threat only reaffirms my call yesterday for President Trump to award Musk the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his contributions to space exploration, electric vehicles, free speech, and other public service. Elon has lost a fortune in resisting these attacks and threats from the left. This country owes him a great debt.

There are two types of evidence in criminal cases — direct evidence and circumstantial evidence. Direct evidence comes in the form of things like confessions, admissions, or eyewitness testimony. Circumstantial evidence comes in the form of indirect evidence.
For people who believe only in direct evidence, they will never accept the fact that the U.S. military-intelligence establishment orchestrated and carried out the assassination of President Kennedy. That’s because there is no direct evidence that has ever surfaced establishing the guilt of the national-security establishment in the assassination. Such people will always fall within the group of people who lament, “Golly, I guess we just will never know who killed JFK.” People in this group will spend their lives scoffing at the “conspiracy theorists” who have arrived at a different conclusion.
On the other hand, for people like me who believe in the validity of circumstantial evidence, there is now no reasonable doubt but that the U.S. national-security establishment orchestrated and carried out the assassination of President Kennedy.
Let me give you an example of direct evidence and circumstantial evidence. Let’s assume that a witness in a court case testifies that he couldn’t sleep and that he saw it raining all night long. That’s direct eyewitness evidence that it rained. But let’s assume that he fell asleep instead. The next morning, it isn’t raining but he states that he saw that water was flooding the streets, the lawns were drenched, water was dripping from trees, and nearby streams were overflowing. That is circumstantial — or indirect — evidence that it rained during the night. That evidence can be admitted into a trial, and it is just as valid as direct evidence.
As a former civil and criminal trial attorney, I was trained to think like a lawyer. The more books I read about the Kennedy assassination, the more I became convinced that the military and the CIA were responsible for JFK’s murder. However, I also felt that there simply wasn’t sufficient evidence — direct or circumstantial — to convict beyond a reasonable doubt, which is the standard of proof used in a criminal case.
There certainly wasn’t any direct evidence in the form of a confession or an admission of guilt in some long-secret memorandum. And while there was a lot of circumstantial evidence of guilt, it simply wasn’t enough, I felt, to convince a jury of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Everything changed for me when I read Douglas Horne’s five-volume book Inside the Assassination Records Review Board. As I finished reading Horne’s book, I now knew that the national-security establishment had orchestrated and carried out the assassination. No, not by direct evidence but rather by circumstantial evidence.
Horne, who served on the staff of the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB) in the 1990s, firmly established beyond a reasonable doubt that the military conducted a fraudulent autopsy on JFK’s body on the very night of the assassination. Why does that matter? Because there is no innocent explanation for a fraudulent autopsy being carried out on the body of the president. Once one concludes that the autopsy was fraudulent, one cannot help but conclude that the military-intelligence establishment is guilty of the president’s murder. There is simply no way around it.
I set forth the evidence surrounding the fraudulent autopsy in my book The Kennedy Autopsy, which is essentially a short, easy-to-read synopsis of Horne’s five-volume book. Let me give you just one example of what I’m talking about when I use the word “fraud.”
The physicians who treated JFK at Parkland Hospital steadfastly maintained that he had a massive exit-sized hole in the lower back of his head. They weren’t the only ones. So did nurses who were inside the treating room. So did a Secret Service agent. So did a newsman outside Parkland. In fact, so did two FBI agents at Bethesda Hospital, where the military conducted its autopsy on a top-secret basis. Their evidence constituted direct, eyewitness evidence that there was a massive-exit-sized hole in the lower back of Kennedy’s head. That direct evidence was later corroborated by circumstantial evidence provided by a Navy film expert in Washington, a Navy chief petty officer named Saundra Spencer, who developed, on a top-secret, classified basis, post-mortem autopsy photographs of the president at the Navy photographic center in Washington, D.C. Her sworn testimony before the ARRB in the 1990s established that the autopsy photographs she developed showed a big, exit-sized hole in the back of the president’s head, just as the Dallas eyewitnesses had stated.
A great documentary to watch is JFK: What the Doctors Saw. Or just watch this interview of Dr. Robert McClellan, who was one of the treating physicians at Parkland. Go to 6:05 to watch McClelland describing the massive hole in the back of Kennedy’s head. McClelland is now deceased but for the rest of his life, he never wavered in what he witnessed that fateful afternoon.
Just recently, in the halls of Congress, Dr. Donald Curtis, who I think is now the only physician who treated Kennedy who is still alive, gave sworn testimony before the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. Ironically, Doug Horne gave sworn testimony at the same hearing.
Curtis’s testimony is summarized in an excellent article posted today entitled “The Double Significance of Dr. Curtis” by a lawyer and JFK assassination researcher named Lawrence P. Schapf. Snapf writes, “Dr. Curtis told Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, chair of the the task force, that as he stood next to the president’s left leg, he saw Dr. Clark lift the president’s head and call over each of the department heads to show them the fatal head wound, so that they could see for themselves why he had stopped the resuscitation. Curtis said they all got a good look at the head wound. He remembers Dr. Clark mentioning the cerebellum several times. The cerebellum is inside the lower rear portion of the skull and is key to motor functions.”
So, what’s the problem? The problem is that an official military autopsy photograph shows the back of JFK’s head to be fully intact — that is, no big, exit-sized hole in the back of JFK’s head. Thus, if what all those eyewitnesses stated is true and correct, then that military photograph has to be fraudulent. There is no way around it.
For me, as a lawyer, the direct evidence of all those eyewitnesses, including some of the most competent, honest physicians in the country, is so overwhelming and persuasive that there is only one reasonable conclusion that can be drawn — the military’s autopsy photograph is false and fraudulent.
Moreover, that’s only one part of the overall autopsy fraud. The other parts, including two different brain examinations that were carried out as part of the autopsy that autopsy physicians claimed was only one brain examination, are detailed in my book and Horne’s book.
Once one reaches the conclusion that the military’s autopsy was fraudulent, that necessarily leads to a much bigger conclusion — guilt beyond a reasonable doubt on the part of the U.S. national-security establishment in the assassination itself. That’s because there is no innocent explanation for a fraudulent autopsy. None! A fraudulent autopsy is conclusive circumstantial evidence of guilt on the part of the military-intelligence establishment in the assassination of President Kennedy. There is simply no way around it.

Site: Zero HedgeWhy California Gas Prices Are the Highest In AmericaTyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 11:40
Authored by Vance Ginn via the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER),
California leads the nation in more ways than one—taxes, regulations, and, once again, gas prices. As of mid-May 2025, the average gasoline price in California is $4.85 per gallon, far above the national average of $3.26, according to GasBuddy and AAA.
And it’s getting worse. A March 2025 study by USC Professor Michael Mische forecasts California’s fuel prices could spike 75 percent to over $8 per gallon within the next year. That’s not hyperbole—that’s the trajectory unless policymakers reverse course.
The culprit? It’s not oil companies or global demand. It’s decades of state-level tax hikes, regulatory overreach, and misguided climate mandates that have warped the gasoline market in California. This is a man-made problem—a case study in government failure, not market failure.
What Really Drives Gas Prices
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline prices are generally shaped by five components: crude oil prices, refining costs, distribution and marketing, taxes, and regulations. In California, taxes and regulatory costs alone account for more than $1.30 per gallon—nearly double the national average.
California has the highest gas tax in the country, at $0.678 per gallon, not including additional fees and environmental surcharges. Add in the Cap-and-Trade program, the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), and boutique fuel blends that are required only in California, and it becomes clear why Californians pay more.
And things are deteriorating further. The Mische study warns that with refinery closures due to hostile permitting processes and low expected returns under California’s climate mandates, fuel supply in the state could drop by 20 percent by 2026, even as demand stays relatively stable. Fewer refineries and rigid fuel standards will mean tighter supply and higher prices.
Texas vs. California: A Tale of Two Fuel Markets
To see how bad California’s policies are, look no further than Texas. As of May 2025, Texas drivers pay about $3.00 per gallon, nearly two dollars less than Californians. Texas levies a combined state gasoline tax of just $0.20 per gallon, and its regulatory structure is streamlined and energy-friendly.
Texas refineries aren’t subject to California’s carbon credit system or forced to produce costly special-blend fuels. And because it allows for a more competitive and open fuel market, the state benefits from both lower wholesale prices and more efficient distribution. The difference is stark—and instructive.
The Fallacy of ‘Green’ Fuel Mandates
Supporters of California’s approach claim high prices are a necessary cost for fighting climate change. But what if those policies aren’t actually working?
California’s greenhouse gas emissions have declined, but much of the reduction has come from cleaner electricity generation, not gasoline policies. Meanwhile, low-income and working-class Californians are being punished at the pump while driving older, less fuel-efficient vehicles.
This amounts to a regressive tax that hurts the very people politicians claim to protect. Worse, these rules don’t reduce global emissions—they just push energy production and refining out of the state and overseas, often to countries with weaker environmental standards.
The Economic Cost of Fragmented Fuel Policies
In my academic work, including a peer-reviewed paper and subsequent research (SSRN profile), I’ve documented how state-level fragmentation of fuel markets—through taxes, environmental programs, and infrastructure restrictions—creates costly inefficiencies that drive up prices.
These policies discourage new investment in refining and fuel transportation. They create artificial shortages. And they increase transaction costs that ultimately fall on consumers.
In short, California’s model is a textbook case of how overregulation and government micromanagement destroy affordability without delivering proportional benefits.
What Should Be Done Instead?
The answer isn’t new subsidies or “green” credits. It’s not banning gas-powered cars or rationing vehicle miles. The solution is to embrace free-market capitalism and the principles Milton Friedman championed: let prices reflect market conditions, not bureaucratic preferences.
That means:
-
Repealing California’s Cap-and-Trade and LCFS programs.
-
Standardizing fuel blends to match those used nationwide.
-
Halting the gasoline tax increases scheduled under current law.
-
Encouraging private investment in refining and fuel infrastructure.
The federal government could help by streamlining interstate pipeline permitting and revisiting federal environmental rules that duplicate or exacerbate state mandates. But the real change must come from Sacramento.
Conclusion: A Crisis of Policy, Not Price
California’s high gas prices aren’t the product of global volatility or greedy corporations. They’re the result of a long series of deliberate policy choices that make fuel harder to produce, harder to transport, and harder to afford.
When government picks winners and losers in energy markets, consumers lose. And when politicians mistake control for competence, they create systems that serve ideology rather than reality.
It’s time to abandon the myth that high gas prices are the price of progress. California has created a man-made fuel crisis—and only free-market reforms can solve it.

As many people know, I have spent most of my waking hours reading – books, newspapers, magazines – for work and pleasure since probably my early teens.
Two of my favorite nationally syndicated columnists are now deceased: Charley Reese died in 2013 and Georgie Anne Geyer in 2019. Both became columnists after long careers as newspaper reporters.
Both would have loved President Trump’s recent speech in Riyadh in which he attacked neocons, nation builders and interventionists.
Both wrote words in the early 2000s about our policies in Israel, Palestine and Iraq that are just as applicable today as they were then.
Charley Reese was chosen as the most popular columnist in a vote by many thousands who responded to a poll by C-SPAN in 1999. He wrote in a very plain, down-to-earth way.
In 2002, a few months before we went to war in Iraq, but when it was already the main topic of debate, Reese wrote: “The truth is this: The terrorist attacks against the United States are a direct result of our one-sided support of Israel’s oppression of the Palestinians. That’s it, pure and simple.”
He added: “The big pushers for war with Iraq are the usual suspects – Americans with a long record of pretending to speak about America’s interests when in fact they are pushing an Israeli agenda.” Now, you can replace the word “Iraq” with the word “Iran.”
On Jan. 24, 2005, Reese wrote, “Propaganda aside, our actions have created the almost universal hostility toward the United States in the Arab world. Our actions have been to support Israel 100 percent while it kills and brutalizes the Palestinians and refuses to negotiate with them.”
Georgie Anne Geyer wrote a few months after the war started in 2003 that “critics of the war against Iraq have said since the beginning of the conflict that Americans, still strangely complacent about overseas wars being waged by a minority in their name, will inevitably come to a point where they will see they have to have a government that provides services at home, or one that seeks empire across the globe.”
These words are still true today. Only the names have been changed so that millions more innocents can be brutalized and the U.S. can go many trillions – yes, trillions – more into debt.
When George W. Bush ran for president in 2000, he went all over the country speaking out against nation building (of other nations) and saying that we needed a “more humble” foreign policy. But then he appointed neocons to run his administration and went in an exactly opposite direction.
Columnist George Will once wrote that neocons were “magnificently misnamed” and that they were “really the most radical people in this city” (meaning Washington).
President Trump made some neocon-type appointments during his first term that he later regretted. But I was ecstatic when I heard what he said in Riyadh on May 14: “But in the end, the so-called nation builders wrecked far more than they built, and the interventionists were intervening in complex societies that they did not even understand themselves.”
“No, the gleaming marvels of Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were not created by the so-called ‘nation builders,’ neocons or liberal non-profits, like those who spent trillions and trillions of dollars failing to develop Kabul, Baghdad, and so many other cities.”
He added: “The birth of a modern Middle East has been brought by the people of the region themselves…” and “has not come from western interventionists … giving you lectures on how to live and how to govern your own affairs.”
Long before this speech, on April 16, 2016, I was invited with five other members of Congress to meet Mr. Trump at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., and hear his first major speech on foreign policy.
He said that day that “our resources are totally overextended … we’re rebuilding other countries while weakening our own.” He said he had been “totally against” the war in Iraq and said that “No country has ever prospered that failed to put its own interests first.”
Tom Friedman, the longtime and very pro-Israel columnist for the New York Times, wrote on May 9th that “Netanyahu is not our friend,” and added: “On the Middle East, you have some good independent instincts, Mr. President. Follow them.”
With Netanyahu, neocons and Christian Zionists now pushing for war against Iran, I wish they would read the words of the late Republican leader, Sen. Robert Taft, who was featured in John F. Kennedy’s book “Profiles In Courage.”
“No foreign policy can be justified except a policy devoted without reservation or diversion to the protection of liberty of the American people, with war only as the last resort and only to preserve that liberty.”

Site: Zero Hedge"Neocons Acting As Vanguard For Israel" To Push War With Iran: ZH Debate RecapTyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 11:15
As Netanyahu threatens to upend U.S. talks with Iran by launching a unilateral strike himself — it’s unclear what the Trump admin plans to do and whether war is on the horizon. Last night, ZeroHedge hosted two category experts for a hawk-versus-dove showdown to answer what Trump should do. Negotiate or bomb? Who’s the aggressor: Iran or Israel?
Libertarian Institute founder Scott Horton lobbied for peace and outlined the long list of U.S. provocations that scarcely surface in western media. Israeli professor Dr. Meir Javedanfar warned of Iranian aggression and support for terrorism. Interestingly, they both agreed on one point: withdrawing from the Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA) was a mistake.
Here were the highlights for those short on time:
Iranian or Israeli/US aggression?
Javedanfar made a laundry list of Iranian acts of aggression and regarding their push for obtaining a nuke, including:
- Iran was caught secretly building the Natanz nuclear facility without informing the IAEA.
- Iran was again caught building a hidden enrichment facility at Fordo.
- Iran conducted research on a nuclear trigger mechanism at the Parchin site, including testing surrogate explosives.
- Documents retrieved by Mossad confirmed Iran’s intent to maintain a nuclear weapon development capability.
- Killed 240 U.S. Marines in Beirut (1983 bombing).
- Took U.S. hostages and attacked the U.S. embassy in Beirut.
- Orchestrated the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia (1996), killing 19 U.S. servicemen.
- Planned a terrorist attack in Washington, D.C. in 2011; plot was foiled by the CIA.
To which Horton replied point-by-point:
- U.S. and Western interventions (via USAID, NED, IRI, NDI, Soros orgs) aimed to provoke regime change in Iran, such as the 2009 Green Revolution, prompting Iran’s fear and secrecy.
- Natanz facility secrecy was due to Iran being blocked by the Nuclear Suppliers Group from purchasing legal nuclear technology, forcing it to buy from AQ Khan’s black market network.
- The discovery of Natanz was not initially by Israeli intelligence or the MEK, but by David Albright, an American nuclear expert.
- MEK (Mujahideen-e-Khalq), cited in claims of exposing Iran’s nuclear program, is described as a “communist terrorist cult” with a history of switching allegiances and spreading false intelligence.
- The claim about Iran developing nuclear triggers at Parchin is refuted:
- The scientist involved was Igor Danchenko, an expert in nano-diamonds, not nuclear weapons.
- There is no credible evidence linking him to nuclear weapons research.
- The 2007 U.S. National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) concluded that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program, largely due to the removal of Saddam Hussein, which eliminated Iran’s primary deterrent need.
- Israel itself engaged in nuclear espionage, including stealing Krytrons (nuclear triggers) from the U.S., highlighting hypocrisy in Israeli accusations.
- The 1983 Beirut bombing:
- Occurred 42 years ago and was carried out by proto-Hezbollah, not directly ordered by Tehran.
- Israel was aware of the attack but didn’t warn the U.S., according to former Israeli spy Victor Ostrovsky.
- The Khobar Towers bombing (1996):
- Attributed to al-Qaeda, not Iran. Specifically, Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed were responsible.
- CIA experts, including Michael Scheuer, and bin Laden himself, confirmed this.
- The 2011 Washington D.C. restaurant plot:
- Dismissed as a hoax involving a used car salesman with no real ties to the Iranian regime.
- The target was a minor diplomat, and the plot was more of a drug deal gone wrong than a genuine Iranian terror plot.
Neocon-Israeli alliance
“Acting directly as agents of the Israeli state.”
While Javedanfar dismissed the claims of Israeli influence in U.S. foreign policy as mere coincidental alignment of interests, Horton charged the neocon alliance that occupied the ranks of the George W Bush administration as essentially acting as foreign agents.
“The war could not have happened without the neocons acting as the vanguard for the Israeli state.”

America’s eighth-largest school district handed taxpayer cash to Planned Parenthood to train teachers that biological sex is a “myth,” according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Philadelphia School District (PSD), which oversees almost 200,000 students, paid Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania (PPSP) nearly $40,000 in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) HIV grant funds to provide up to 70 trainings which decry biological sex as a “myth,” support medical child sex-changes and normalize men in women’s sports, according to documents obtained by the DCNF through a public records request. Planned Parenthood delivered Comprehensive Sexual Education to more than 1.3 million participants during the 2023-2024 fiscal year, according to its latest annual report, dubbing itself as America’s “largest” sex education provider.
“Too many people remain unaware that Planned Parenthood has become a primary player in the youth gender industry and uses schools as the vehicle into the minds of children,” Erika Sanzi, director of outreach for Defending Education, told the DCNF. “This is already unacceptable on its face but the fact that they’re using federal dollars to promote these ideologies and lie about the long-term consequences of medicalization is reprehensible.”

PPSP contracted with the PSD to provide 14 unique sexual education trainings for teachers and students in grades 4-12, on topics such as creating a “safe space” for LGBT youth at school, “debunking myths” about child sex-changes and teaching “self-advocacy” to LGBT youth, documents show. The DCNF obtained slideshows from the presentations, revealing Philadelphia teachers are being trained to reinforce the gender-confusion of students and push youth towards obtaining medical sex-changes.
The funds for PPSP were derived from a $2.6 million dollar multi-year CDC grant for a school-based HIV prevention program, awarded to PSD in 2018.
PSD did not provide a comment in time for publication. The CDC and PPSP did not respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment.
Slides from a Planned Parenthood school training titled, “Debunking Myths about Gender-Affirming Care,” obtained from the Philadelphia School District via Public Records Request.
A PPSP teacher training titled “Debunking Myths about Gender-Affirming Care,” “debunks” what it claims to be “myths” about child sex-changes, such as “most people regret having gender-affirming surgery or medical interventions,” “kids are too young to know they’re trans or non binary” and “gender-affirming care is dangerous,” documents show.
The presentation incorrectly calls puberty blockers, which cause infertility, bone density loss and may impair brain development, “fully reversible,” and states child sex-change medical interventions are “life saving and life enabling.” A review published by the Trump administration in May 2025 found the child sex-change medical industry is built on junk science that lacks ethical justification.
Planned Parenthood is “wrong” to cast child-sex changes as safe and reversible, Dr. Kurt Miceli, medical director at the watchdog organization Do No Harm, told the DCNF.
“Planned Parenthood is wrong in its portrayal of so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ in minors. Multiple systematic reviews show that the quality of evidence for these interventions is incredibly weak,” Miceli told the DCNF. “The harms, on the other hand, are very real and serious. The risks range from infertility to surgical complications and regret. These interventions negatively impact bone health and cause cardiovascular disease, too. The experimental and harmful effects on youth are no myth and can’t be ignored.”
PPSP provides sex-change hormone therapy through in-person and remote telehealth appointments to patients over 18, directing minors seeking sex-change hormone therapy to contact the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Gender and Sexuality Development Program, according to its website. A training on medical child sex-changes lists the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who Do No Harm calls the “worst-offending” children’s hospitals in the country for “promoting sex change treatments for minors,” as a “local resource” for educators.
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia did not respond to the DCNF’s requests for comment.
Planned Parenthood claims biological sex is a “myth” and explains the importance of providing students with “gender-neutral” locker rooms and bathrooms in a teacher training titled “How to Make Your Classroom a Safe Space for LGBTQIA+ Students.” Teachers are further instructed to fill their classrooms with LGBT imagery, interrupt “transphobic” behavior and advocate for school-wide “queer positive” sexual education.
PPSP addresses the hot button topic of male “transgender” athletes competing in girls sports in the same training, stating there is “no research” to support males having an advantage over females in sports. It states that research supports that a “lack of athletic opportunities in schools,” which transgender activists say occurs when males are denied access to girls sports, is an “actual” threat to students.
A slide presentation titled, “How to Make Your Classroom a Safe Space for LGBTQIA+ Students,” obtained from the Philadelphia School District via Public Records Request.
In a PPSP training titled “Teaching Digital Decision-Making, Media Literacy and Safety,” teachers were warned they might be exposed to “transphobia,” “misogyny” and “bullying,” when reviewing a series of tweets, including those authored by J.K. Rowling, that questioned the legitimacy of Imane Khelif, an allegedly male boxer, participating in female sports, documents show.
Khelif controversially won the 2024 Summer Olympics female gold medal in the boxing competition. In March 2023, Khelif was excluded from participating in the International Boxing Association (IBA) women’s events after a series of blood tests showed Khelif failed to meet its definition of a woman, according to the IBA website. The IBA wrote a letter to the International Olympic Committee in June 2023 and expressed concerns over the safety of female boxers if forced to compete with Khelif.
A PPSP student media literacy training asked youth to identify “red flags,” defined as content on social media that is exclusionary, prejudiced or providing false information. Students were asked to find the “red flag” when provided with a photo of a pregnant “man” and a statement that only biological women can get pregnant, documents show.
A PPSP training titled “Self Advocacy For LGBTQ+ Youth” encouraged students to embrace “coming out” and to be supportive of medically transitioning “transgender” friends.
In its 2023-2024 Annual Report, PPSP praised its partnership with PSD, saying it has trained 627 teachers and staff to “cultivate shame-free schools.”

Site: Zero HedgeBiden May Be Called To Testify On Cover-Up Of His Own Cognitive Decline: ComerTyler Durden Fri, 05/30/2025 - 10:50
Authored by Steve Watson via Modernity.news,
Joe Biden’s wife and son, and even Sleepy Joe himself, may be forced to testify before the House Oversight Committee regarding the attempts to cover up his clear mental unravelling, according to the committee Chairman James Comer.
In a Fox News interview, Comer revealed that the former First Lady, Jill Biden, and the President’s son, Hunter, as well as former White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre could be called in and subpoenaed if they refuse to agree to testifying.
“If the trail leads us to the next step, which many believe would be perhaps Jill Biden and Hunter Biden, then we will go there,” Comer stated.
Should members of the Biden administration be under investigation for their role in the Biden cover-up?

.@RepJamesComer (R-KY) explains his demands for interviews from former President Joe Biden’s doctor and other senior aides regarding Biden’s purported decline on @seanhannity pic.twitter.com/i18FjIe4FKThe committee has already called in Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the physician who gave Biden a clean bill of health, and four other Biden handlers to testify.
Comer added that they have “all lawyered up,” and are “all taking this very seriously,” also noting that O’Connor “definitely was not telling the truth about Joe Biden’s health.”
The deadline for them to respond is the end of today.
Hannity asked Comer if it would “even be worthwhile to Bring [Biden] in” in light of what a “cognitive mess” he is, to which the Rep. responded he was open to bringing Biden in.
Whether or not he’d get a single sentence that makes any sense out of Biden is another question.
Congress is seeking to investigate the autopen scandal and find out exactly what top aides knew about Biden’s mental deficiency.
The Oversight Project previously released findings showing an apparent correlation between the increased use of autopen signatures and Joe Biden’s worsening mental decline.
The group found that two different autopens were used, with an analysis of Executive Order signatures showing an “increased use of the autopen as President Biden’s mental and physical decline accelerated.”
President Trump has called for those who operated Biden’s autopen to be jailed.
Trump has also declared that all of the pardons issued in the final days of Biden’s fake Presidency should be void because he didn’t sign any of them.

Martina Bednarova has been given a suspended jail term in the Czech Republic for calling Moscow’s military action “justified”
A Czech court has handed a former teacher a seven-month suspended sentence for expressing pro-Russian views during a school lesson, local media reported on Thursday.
Martina Bednarova was also banned from teaching for three years and ordered to complete a media literacy course, according to the Ceska Justice news portal. The court reportedly said Bednarova misused her role by presenting “misleading information” to students.
The incident occurred in April 2022, shortly after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, during a Czech language lesson at an elementary school in Prague. According to media reports, Bednarova described Russia’s military action of Ukraine as a “justified way of resolving the situation” and cast doubt on Czech television’s coverage.
She also said “Nazi Ukrainian groups” had been killing Russians since 2014, apparently referring to Ukrainian nationalist battalions such as Azov, which Moscow has accused of committing atrocities against ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine, and which the Kiev authorities dispute. Students recorded the class and alerted school officials, leading to Bednarova’s dismissal.
Judge Eliska Matyasova claimed Bednarova was not simply expressing personal views but delivering false information in a classroom where students could not question it. Bednarova said her remarks were part of a media literacy lesson and called the case politically driven. The verdict is not final, as she has the right to appeal.
The District Court initially acquitted Bednarova twice, with an appeals chamber backing the second ruling on free speech grounds. In January, however, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions and ordered a new review to assess whether her actions met the criteria for a criminal offense.
Prague has taken a strongly anti-Russian stance in recent years, especially in response to the Ukraine conflict, becoming one of Kiev’s staunchest supporters.

In its 2023 human rights report, the Russian Foreign Ministry labeled the Czech government’s actions as “Russophobic” and expressed concern over freedom of speech in the country.
It also raised concerns over the functioning of media in the Czech Republic and noted what it called a steady drift toward anti-Russian sentiment.
Russian will also be phased out as a second language by 2034 under new Czech education reforms, with students limited to German, French or Spanish. As of late 2023, over 40,000 Russian nationals lived in the country, making them the fourth-largest foreign community.
The Czech Republic, once part of communist Czechoslovakia and a Soviet-aligned Eastern Bloc member, became independent in 1993 after the 1989 Velvet Revolution and the Soviet Union’s collapse. Since then, the country has removed or altered hundreds of Soviet-era monuments, with another wave of removals following the 2014 Western-backed coup in Kiev and the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.

A victory for pregnancy centers in Pennsylvania has produced hope for pregnancy care workers in the Keystone State.
The commonwealth’s former attorney general Michelle Henry had created a page titled, “Report Reproductive Health Deceptive Activity,” in 2023 on the AG website for clients of pregnancy centers to report complaints.
Local pregnancy help advocates recently discovered that the website has been removed.
The Pennsylvania Pregnancy Wellness Collaborative (PPWC) sent two of its members to the new attorney general’s office April 15 with a mission. David Sunday, openly pro-life, was elected in November as the new AG.
REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.
PPWC, as defined in its 2024 opening press conference by the organization’s President Sarah Bowen is an, “initiative unifying pregnancy medical clinics and resource centers that provide compassionate and essential care for women and families in Pennsylvania.”
In 2023, Democrat Henry publicly and falsely stated the website was necessary because most pregnancy centers were not licensed and therefore not providing adequate medical care.
PPWC members Jill Hartman, executive director of A Woman’s Concern in Lancaster, and Jon Merwarth, executive director of Bright Hope Support Centers in Allentown, sat down with the attorney general’s council. Sunday was unable to attend the meeting.
“I believe they really wanted to hear what we had to say,” Hartman said.
Hartman and Merwarth came before the council with statistics refuting the data presented by the previous attorney general office.
Hartman said Henry’s move to depreciate Pennsylvania centers stemmed from the 2022 report by “progressive” collaborative The Alliance titled, “Designed to Deceive: A Study of Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Nine States.” Among those nine states placed under scrutiny was Pennsylvania, along with Alaska, California, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.
“That report is what drove much of the false info,” Hartman said.
In the report, researchers incorrectly declared Pennsylvania clinics committed false advertising by using the terms “choice” and “options” in their websites.
The PPWC members addressed these claims with the AG office during the April 15 visit.
Hartman presented the PPWC study, “Optimizing Maternal Health in Pennsylvania” in the visit, highlighting the positive impact of pregnancy help centers.
She shared this document which she drafted in response to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s efforts to start a state-funded pilot pregnancy center.
“There are 87 centers in 161 locations throughout the commonwealth,” Hartman noted in the document. “These centers represent 78 percent of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania with focus on areas with the greatest need.”
“We represent 85 percent of the counties in Pennsylvania,” she said in an interview with Pregnancy Help News.
The site on the attorney general’s page “was set up to convince people to be against us,” Hartman said, adding she is not aware of any complaints registered or investigated from the site’s inception.
She added that PPWC and pregnancy centers in Pennsylvania want what is best for clients as they look for support, saying, “We are wanting data to drive decisions rather than false narratives.”
Hartman said the collaborative is aware there will be folks in the Commonwealth who will choose not to see pregnancy centers as a resource.
“It’s fine if you do not agree with us,” she said. “What’s not fine is that you lie about us.”
Nearly four weeks after the visit with the new AG, a PPWC member went online to review the attorney general website and discovered instead the words, “Oops! That page cannot be found.”
“We are just so pleased,” Hartman said. “We were just coming off from the Day of Advocacy press conference at the capital that week and then we noticed this removal.”
Inquiries by Pregnancy Help News to obtain comment from the Pennsylvania Attorney General Office did not receive a response.

Brussels’ attempt to circumvent bloc members who vote against its wishes is a threat to democracy, the Slovak PM has warned
A reported EU plan to scrap member states’ veto power on matters of foreign policy would spell the end of the bloc and could become “the precursor of a huge military conflict,” Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has warned.
Slovakia and its Central European neighbour Hungary have long opposed the EU’s approach to the Ukraine conflict, criticizing military aid to Kiev and sanctions on Russia. Both governments have repeatedly threatened to use their veto powers to block EU actions they view as harmful to national interests.
To bypass dissent, Brussels is reportedly weighing a shift from unanimous voting, a founding principle of EU foreign policy, to qualified majority voting (QMV), arguing that it would streamline decision-making and prevent individual states from paralyzing joint actions.
Fico, however, condemned the proposal on Thursday during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Hungary.

“The imposition of a mandatory political opinion, the abolition of the veto, the punishment of the sovereign and the brave, the new Iron Curtain, the preference for war over peace. This is the end of the common European project. This is a departure from democracy. This is the precursor of a huge military conflict,” he said.
EU sanctions on Russia currently require unanimous renewal every six months, with the current term set to expire at the end of July. Brussels is also preparing an 18th package of sanctions aimed at tightening restrictions on Russia’s energy sector and financial institutions.
Earlier this month, during a visit to Moscow for Victory Day commemorations, Fico assured Russian President Vladimir Putin that Slovakia would veto any EU-wide attempt to ban imports of Russian oil or gas.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has taken a similar stance. While Hungary has not formally blocked a sanctions package, it has delayed several rounds to extract concessions.
Orban has also warned that removing the veto would strip smaller nations of their sovereignty.
“We want Brussels to show us, as all other member countries, the same respect, not only symbolically, but also by taking our interests into account,” he said last month.

Both Slovakia and Hungary have resisted increased military support to Kiev, with Budapest blocking several key decisions citing concerns over national interests and the potential for escalation. Fico has emphasized the need for peace negotiations over continued military engagement.

Instead of high-quality education, these institutions are fostering a global neo-feudal system reminiscent of the British Raj
US President Donald Trump has banned international students from attending Harvard University, citing national security concerns.
The move has sparked widespread condemnation from academics and foreign governments, who warn it could damage America’s global influence and reputation for academic openness. At stake is not just Harvard’s global appeal, but the very premise of open academic exchange that has long defined elite higher education in the US.
But exactly how ‘open’ is Harvard’s admissions process? Every year, highly qualified students – many with top-tier SAT or GMAT test scores – are rejected, often with little explanation. Critics argue that behind the prestigious Ivy League brand lies an opaque system shaped by legacy preferences, DEI imperatives, geopolitical interests, and outright bribes. George Soros, for instance, once pledged $1 billion to open up elite university admissions to drones who would read from his Open Society script.
China’s swift condemnation of Trump’s policy added a layer of geopolitical irony to the debate. Why would Beijing feign concern for “America’s international standing” amid a bitter trade war? The international standing of US universities has long been tarnished by a woke psychosis which spread like cancer to all branches of the government.
So, what was behind China’s latest gripe? The answer may lie in the unspoken rules of soft power: Ivy League campuses are battlegrounds for influence. The US deep state has long recruited foreign students to promote its interests abroad – subsidized by American taxpayers no less. China is apparently playing the same game, leveraging elite US universities to co-opt future leaders on its side of the geostrategic fence.
Read moreTrump bans Harvard from admitting foreign students
For the time being, a judge has granted Harvard’s request for a temporary restraining order against Trump’s proposed ban. Come what may, there is one commonsense solution that all parties to this saga would like to avoid: Forcing Ivy League institutions to open their admissions process to public scrutiny. The same institutions that champion open borders, open societies, and open everything will, however, not tolerate any suggestion of greater openness to its admissions process. That would open up a Pandora’s Box of global corruption that is systemically ruining nations today.
Speaking of corruption – how is this for irony? A star Harvard professor who built her career researching decision-making and dishonesty was just fired and stripped of tenure for fabricating her own data!
Concentration of wealth and alumni networks
The Ivy League has a vested interest in perpetuating rising wealth and educational inequalities. It is the only way they can remain atop the global rankings list at the expense of less-endowed peers.
Elite universities like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT dominate lists of institutions with the most ultra-wealthy alumni (net worth over $30mn). For example, Harvard alone has 18,000 ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) alumni, representing 4% of the global UHNW population.
These alumni networks provide major donations, corporate partnerships, and exclusive opportunities, reinforcing institutional wealth. If the alma mater’s admissions process was rigged in their favor, they have no choice but to cough it up, at least for the sake of their offspring who will perpetuate this exclusivist cycle.
The total endowment of Princeton University – $34.1 billion in 2024 – translated to $3.71 million per student, enabling generous financial aid and state-of-the-art facilities. Less prestigious institutions just cannot compete on this scale.

Rankings, graft, and ominous trends
Global university rankings (QS, THE, etc.) heavily favor institutions with large endowments, high spending per student, and wealthy student bodies. For example, 70% of the top 50 US News & World Report Best Colleges overlap with universities boasting the largest endowments and the highest percentage of students from the top 1% of wealthy families.
According to the Social Mobility Index (SMI), climbing rankings requires tens of millions in annual spending, driving tuition hikes and exacerbating inequality. Lower-ranked schools which prioritize affordability and access are often overshadowed in traditional rankings, which reward wealth over social impact. Besides, social mobility these days is predetermined at birth, as the global wealth divide becomes unbridgeable.
Worse, the global ranking system itself thrives on graft, with institutions gaming audits, inflating data, and even bribing reviewers. Take the case of a Southeast Asian diploma mill where some of its initial batch of female students had been arrested for prostitution. Despite its flagrant lack of academic integrity, it grew rapidly to secure an unusually high QS global ranking – ahead of venerable institutions like the University of Pavia, where Leonardo da Vinci studied, and which boasts three Nobel Laureates among its ranks.
Does this grotesque inversion of merit make any sense?
Government policies increasingly favor elite institutions. Recent White House tax cuts and deregulation may further widen gaps by benefiting corporate-aligned universities while reducing public funding for others. This move was generally welcomed by the Ivy League until Trump took on Harvard.
With such ominous trends on the horizon, brace yourselves for an implosion of the global education sector by 2030 – a reckoning mirroring the 2008 financial crisis, but with far graver consequences. And touching on the 2008 crisis, didn’t someone remark that “behind every financial disaster, there’s a Harvard economist?”
Nobody seems to be learning from previous contretemps. In fact, I dare say that ‘learning’ is merely a coincidental output of the Ivy League brand

The credentialism trap
When Lehman Brothers and its lesser peers collapsed in 2008, many Singapore-based corporations eagerly scooped up their laid-off executives. The logic? Fail upward.
If these whizz kids were truly talented, why did they miss the glaring warning signs during the lead up to the greatest economic meltdown since the Great Depression? The answer lies in the cult of credentialism and an entrenched patronage system. Ivy League MBAs and Rolodexes of central banker contacts are all that matters. The consequences are simply disastrous: A runaway global talent shortage will hit $8.452 trillion in unrealized annual revenues by 2030, more than the projected GDP of India for the same year.
Ivy League MBAs often justify their relevance by overcomplicating simple objectives into tedious bureaucratic grinds – all in the name of efficiency, smart systems, and ever-evolving ‘best practices’. The result? Doctors now spend more time on paperwork than treating patients, while teachers are buried under layers of administrative work.
Ultimately, Ivy League technocrats often function as a vast bureaucratic parasite, siphoning public and private wealth into elite hands. What kind of universal socioeconomic model are these institutions bequeathing to the world? I can only think of one historical analogue as a future cue: Colonial India, aka the British Raj. This may be a stretch, but bear with me.
Lessons from the Raj
As Norman Davies pointed out, the Austro-Hungarians had more bureaucrats managing Prague than the British needed to run all of colonial India – a subcontinent that included modern-day Pakistan and Bangladesh. In fact, it took only 1,500-odd white Indian Civil Service (ICS) officials to govern colonial India until WWI.
That is quite staggering to comprehend, unless one grasps how the British and Indian societies are organized along rigid class (and caste) lines. When two corrupt feudal systems mate, their offspring becomes a blueprint for dystopia.
India never recovered from this neo-feudal arrangement. If the reader thinks I am exaggerating, let’s compare the conditions in the British Raj and China from 1850 to 1976 (when the Cultural Revolution officially ended). During this period, China endured numerous societal setbacks – including rebellions, famines, epidemics, lawlessness, and a world war – which collectively resulted in the deaths of nearly 150 million Chinese. The Taiping Rebellion alone – the most destructive civil war in history – resulted in 20 to 30 million dead, representing 5-10% of China’s population at the time.
Read moreAI hallucinations: a budding sentience or a global embarrassment?
A broad comparison with India during the same period reveals a death toll of 50-70 million, mainly from epidemics and famines. Furthermore, unlike colonial India, many parts of China also lacked central governance.
Indian nationalists are quick to blame a variety of bogeymen for their society’s lingering failings. Nevertheless, they should ask themselves why US Big Tech-owned news platforms, led by upper-caste Hindu CEOs, no less, showed a decidedly pro-Islamabad bias during the recent Indo-Pakistani military standoff. Maybe, these CEOs are supine apparatchiks, much like their predecessors during the British Raj? Have they been good stewards of the public domain (i.e. internet)? Have they promoted meritocracy in foreign lands? (You can read some stark examples here, here and here).
These Indian Big Tech bros, however, showed a lot of vigor and initiative during the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing their employees to take the vaccine or face the pink slip. They led the charge behind the Global Task Force on Pandemic Response, which included an “unprecedented corporate sector initiative to help India successfully fight COVID-19.” Just check out the credentials of the ‘experts’ involved here. Shouldn’t this task be left to accomplished Indian virologists and medical experts?
A tiny few, in the service of a hegemon, can control the fate of billions. India’s income inequality is now worse than it was under British rule.
A way out?
As global university inequalities widen further, it is perhaps time to rethink novel approaches to level the education field as many brick and mortar institutions may simply fold during the volatile 2025-30 period.
I am optimistic that the use of AI in education will be a great equalizer, but I also fear that Big Tech will force governments into using its proprietary EdTech solutions that are already showing signs of runaway AI hallucinations – simply because the bold new world is all about control and power, not empowerment. Much like the British Raj, I would say.

Businesses will no longer be forced to accommodate abortion in the workplace, thanks to a Trump-appointed judge. This is a huge step in protecting preborn babies and religious freedom across the country!
U.S. District Judge David Joseph ruled last Wednesday that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission overstepped its authority when it tried to include abortion as a condition covered under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act — a law passed in 2022 to support pregnant women in the workplace.
Judge Joseph stated that if Congress wanted to include abortion in the law, they would have made it clear, especially on such a divisive and important issue. “Congress would have spoken clearly” if it had intended for the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to cover abortion, he wrote.
Please follow LifeNews.com on Gab for the latest pro-life news and info, free from social media censorship.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had issued a sweeping rule interpreting the law to include “termination of pregnancy, including via miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.” But Christian and conservative groups immediately challenged the regulation, warning it would violate conscience protections and force employers to participate in the abortion agenda.
Thanks to this ruling, American businesses will not be forced to give employees time off to end the lives of their preborn babies — a chilling policy that the Biden administration tried to slip through under the guise of “pregnancy accommodations.”
This decision is the latest reminder of how crucial it is to have leaders and judges who respect Life. Under President Donald Trump, federal support for abortion was rolled back, the Hyde Amendment was enforced, and the Mexico City Policy was reinstated, cutting off taxpayer funding for elective abortions both at home and abroad.
Last week’s court ruling is a resounding Pro-Life victory, showing that the fight to protect the most vulnerable is far from over.

Berlin’s approval of Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia could result in Moscow removing its own constraints, Sergey Shoigu has said
Moscow has the means to respond to Berlin’s decision to lift the range restrictions on Ukrainian strikes with missiles provided by Germany, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu has said.
Earlier this week, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz claimed that “there are no longer any range restrictions on weapons supplied to Ukraine, neither from the British nor the French, nor from us, nor from the Americans.”
In a separate interview on Wednesday, Merz said deliveries of German Taurus missiles – which have a range of 500km and could potentially reach Moscow – to Kiev is “in the realm of possible.”
Speaking at a conference on Thursday, Shoigu highlighted the inconsistency of Ukraine’s Western backers regarding the use of long-range weapons.
The administration of former US President Joe Biden lifted the restrictions on long-range attacks last November, with the UK and France following suit shortly afterwards. Since then, the Russian military has repelled a number of strikes against its territory, which included US-supplied ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles.

Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was reluctant to approve deep strikes into Russia or to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles over fears of escalation.
“There are many statements. They are all different. First, they say that they had lifted it, then they say that they did not. Then they say that they did it long ago… So, did you lift it or not?” Shoigu said, adding: “we can also lift limitations on some things. I will not expand on this, but we have our own restrictions that we can remove in response.”
The chancellor, who welcomed Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky in Berlin on Wednesday, also said Germany will help Kiev with the production of long-range weaponry inside Ukraine. According to the German Defense Ministry, a large part of the country’s newly announced €5.2 billion ($5.6 billion) military aid for Ukraine will be allocated for the project.
High-ranking Russian diplomat Rodion Miroshnik stressed on Friday that any weapons production facilities in Ukraine are legitimate targets for the Russian military, and are subject to “unequivocal destruction.”

Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large tasked with documenting Kiev’s alleged war crimes, also said Berlin’s recent moves show that they “are not looking for peace, [but are] trying in every possible way to continue the Ukraine conflict, to continue the bloodshed” in order to distract the people from the problems in their own country.

A caller posing as White House chief of staff Susie Wiles has reportedly asked for money from US elites
US authorities are investigating an individual who has allegedly been impersonating White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
The impersonator has been attempting to deceive prominent Republican senators, governors and business leaders over the past several weeks, by pretending to be Wiles, sources familiar with the investigation have told the newspaper. The individual has reportedly used text messages and phone calls using a voice likely generated by AI.
Some of the targets interacted with the imposter, but others found the messages immediately suspicious as they contained grammatical errors and used an overly formal tone that did not align with Wiles’ style.
Some recipients were asked questions Wiles would be expected to know, and in at least one case, the caller solicited a money transfer.

Sources told the WSJ that Wiles suspects her personal phone may have been hacked and her contact list compromised, but investigators have yet to confirm that theory.
The FBI does not believe a foreign government is behind the scheme, according to the report.
While Wiles’ contacts have been notified, fraudulent messages were sent as recently as this week, including while she was accompanying Trump on a trip to the Middle East, sources told the outlet.
In May, then-national security adviser Mike Waltz became embroiled in a separate communications mishap after mistakenly adding a senior editor with The Atlantic to a private Signal group chat.
Trump later stated that Waltz had “learned a lesson,” though media reports claimed that internal pressure mounted for his removal. His resignation was announced earlier this month.
