President Trump’s return to the Middle East this week, the first since his first-term 2017 visit, will take place amidst great turmoil. It is a region that bears little resemblance to  the Middle East of 2017 and it appears, at least from media reporting this past week, that the Trump Administration has some understanding of this reality.

Syria has been over-run and is now controlled by the same al-Qaeda that the US government supposedly spent 20 years fighting in the “war on terror.” Violence against religious and ethnic minorities has, predictably, exploded under the “rule” of a self-proclaimed Syrian president who until very recently was on the US “most wanted” terrorist list.

After the October 7, 2023, Hamas raid, Gaza has been reduced to rubble and turned into a humanitarian catastrophe. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed and perhaps another million face starvation. US bombs and financial aid have facilitated the utter destruction of Gaza.

Iran has made peace with Saudi Arabia thanks to Chinese mediation and is deepening its ties with the Kingdom. Thus, the US has little leverage in talks with the two former enemies.

Israel is conducting military operations against several countries in the region simultaneously as the world increasingly condemns its aggression against its neighbors.

After tearing up the JCPOA nuclear deal with Iran in his first term, President Trump is pushing for a new deal with Iran while threatening to attack if negotiations do not produce the results he demands.

Massively increased US military action against the Houthis in Yemen starting in March did not result in their capitulation to US demands. Despite attempting to put the best spin on things, it is clear that the US retreated from the region in the face of a series of successful Yemeni actions in defense of their homeland.

Biden and then Trump launched attacks against Yemen on behalf of Israel, but in the end the US president wisely removed US military assets from the area and called off the bombing.

In short, President Trump will be wading into a minefield this week, but it is a peril that the US government has largely brought upon itself. Decades of US interventionism, from at least the 2003 Iraq war, have not produced the peaceful transformation of the region, as promised by the neocons and their mentor, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

From the unnecessary Iraq war – based on lies – to the destruction of Libya and Syria and countless other interventions, the Middle East is a basket case. And it turns out none of it actually helped Israel at all!

Having ignited the tinder box of the region with US backing, Israel has now found itself friendless in a region increasingly hostile to its policies and even its very existence. Now there are indications that the Trump Administration is tiring of this entangling alliance as the MAGA base looks more warily on foreign interventionism.

The lesson that President Trump should take with him is that to a large degree it has been US interventionism in the Middle East that has produced these poisoned fruits. His wise military disengagement from the Houthis in Yemen should serve as a US model for the region. Ties forged by trade and friendship produce peace and prosperity and are far preferable to endless neocon war cries.

The EU’s annoyingly fake ‘unity’ is as brain-rotting as any illicit substance

A brief scandal erupted last weekend during a visit to Ukraine by French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, when a couple of ‘suspicious’ objects they were handling were speculated to be drugs and drug paraphernalia.

They almost certainly were not, so let’s cut Macron some slack. He did hop on the official Elysee Palace social media account to clarify that, non, he was not doing rails while riding the rails to Ukraine alongside Merz and Starmer. They weren’t on drugs – just on good old-fashioned EU unity. Which, to be fair, seems to induce an equally brain-cell-crushing delirium.

“When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs,” read the post. So, Macron suggests, it wasn’t a party starter on the table, just the world’s most suspiciously placed tissue – alongside what appeared to be an unfortunately shaped spoon. And anyone suggesting otherwise is just spreading fake news. The press walked in, the photo went up, and the internet did what it does.

But the real dodginess started after they disembarked and got to work in Ukraine – presumably with clearer sinuses. But not from any drugs. Perhaps just from the sinus-blasting “industrial amounts” of Dior Eau Sauvage cologne that Macron is known for wearing, as Le Parisien’s Olivier Beaumont recently described itOr not.

Read more German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron sit together in the saloon car on a train to Kiev, Ukraine, May 10, 2025. French government dismisses Macron cocaine claims

If they aren’t actually high, they’re sure acting like it. Finally, with Russian President Vladimir Putin proposing direct talks between Moscow and Kiev in Türkiye starting this week, there’s finally a chance on the table to put an end to this conflict, something that the entire world has been demanding – EU leaders included.

As far back as May 2022, Macron and recently-former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spent 80 minutes on the phone with Putin and insisted on “direct, serious negotiations” with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky.

But now suddenly the EU is all like, “Well, no, sorry. That doesn’t work for us.” Hey guys, does your unity come in powdered form now?

Okay, so what changed? Well, nothing, really. Other than the fact that a bunch of European leaders just did a big powwow with Zelensky in Kiev – a photo shoot to show them all rallying around their boy. Maybe so he also didn’t get too triggered during Moscow’s big Victory Day parade against the World War 2 Nazis and start tossing toys out of the pram.

They emerged with a big demand: that Russia accept a 30-day ceasefire or else. Or else what? They’ll unleash epic sanctions. And no doubt even more epic grandstanding. Because that’s totally worked so far.

So it looks like they can’t have Ukraine doing direct peace talks now because that would mean that they wouldn’t get to stage their new little script that they just came up with. “There can be no negotiations while weapons are speaking. There can be no dialogue if, at the same time, civilians are being bombed. A ceasefire is needed now, so that talks can begin. For peace,” Macron said.

Read more The leader of France’s Patriots party, Florian Philippot French party leader praises Moscow’s peace talks proposal

So Macron apparently sees himself as the director of this whole charade. If that’s the case, then he might want to start by making sure Zelensky doesn’t have his pants on backwards. It kind of looked like that was the case. Although perhaps he’s just starting a new line of pants with the fly in the back to go with the sweatshirts he wears when he visits world leaders to beg for money.

With Macron directing, it also looks like Germany is doing the filming and the musical score, and posted a cringey video of their bromance show to Merz’s social media account.

So, Director Macron says, first there needs to be the ceasefire – which Moscow said Ukraine couldn’t even respect for the three days that one was in place over the Victory Day holiday, let alone for a whole month. Then after that come the talks, Macron insists. The French foreign minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, also said on French radio that the EU representatives want to be present for any direct peace talks in Istanbul. Because apparently Zelensky is like a college kid who can’t go on a job interview or a date without his helicopter parents hovering around.

Merz was also saying, yes, yes, first the weapons “must be silenced.” Then, he says, they can “create space for talks.” Then maybe comes the “just and lasting peace.” Is Germany doing the choreography for this charade, too? You sure you don’t want an intermission or two in there, as well? Maybe some champagne and snack breaks out in the lobby?

Read more Vladimir Zelensky. Zelensky sets conditions for direct talks with Putin in Türkiye

As for Zelensky, he’s now just parroting the Europeans about the offer to negotiate being a “positive sign that the Russians have finally begun to consider ending the war.” But he also said that he needed to know by Monday whether they’re going to do the 30-day ceasefire. Because they have to get their show on the road, I guess – so they can begin the official countdown to more sanctions and grandstanding.

But get this. For once, it seems like the US and Venezuela actually agree on something. That’s huge unto itself – the geopolitical equivalent of pigs flying… first class. And the thing on which they both agree just happens to be the need for these direct peace talks. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said that “we must embark on a peaceful path… Russia has the right to peace.” Trump said on Truth Social that Putin’s proposal represented a “potentially great day for Russia and Ukraine! Think of the hundreds and thousands of lives that will be saved as this never ending ‘bloodbath’ hopefully comes to an end.” Trump also underscored that Putin “doesn’t want to have a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine, but rather wants to meet on Thursday, in Turkey” and that “Ukraine should agree to this immediately.”

So it looks like peace is finally on the table in a major way, with this new development. But apparently the EU needs some time for its own center-stage sermon and limelight-hogging monologue first. Probably to send as their official entry to the Nobel Peace Prize committee for when peace manages to break out despite their best efforts. Priorities, priorities.

The story of a woman who drove over 700 miles to Albuquerque, New Mexico, intending to obtain an abortion but ultimately choosing life for her unborn child is a powerful testament to the sanctity of life and the impact of compassionate pro-life outreach.

The woman, whose identity remains private, embarked on this long journey from another state, likely from Texas and driven the easy accessibility of abortion in New Mexico, where abortions are legal up to birth. This story highlights the importance of offering support and alternatives to abortion.

Upon arriving in Albuquerque, the woman encountered a group of peaceful, faith-based pro-life advocates outside the abortion facility. These sidewalk counselors, committed to protecting unborn lives, engaged with her in a non-confrontational manner, offering prayers, information about fetal development, and resources for pregnancy support.

Their presence and gentle approach provided a critical moment of reflection for the woman, allowing her to reconsider her initial decision. This interaction exemplifies the pro-life movement’s emphasis on love and dialogue, aiming to inform rather than condemn, and demonstrates how personal connections can influence life-affirming choices.

    Here’s more:

According to a statement from the Cherub Initiative, a local pro-life organization, the woman, identified as “Mama M,” arrived at SWO with her aunt after renting a car to make the long journey from Texas. The woman, who was six weeks pregnant, had initially intended to terminate her pregnancy at the facility, one of the few clinics in the nation that performs the latest-term abortions.

“Praise the Lord! Mama M chose life for both herself and her unborn baby because of both teams—the LIFE Runners Albuquerque Chapter and the Cherub Initiative Sidewalk Guardians For Life team!” the organization announced in an email celebrating the news.

Members of the pro-life groups gathered outside SWO for their monthly huddle and prayer outreach. “We began by putting on the full armor of God, being in prayer, public witness, peaceful, law-abiding presence, and doing outreach,” the email explained. When Mama M and her aunt arrived, the teams immediately began reaching out with words of encouragement and offered a “Mommy Hope Bag” filled with gifts and resources to support women choosing life.

To say that the priests of Rome have been demoralized over the past 13 years is an understatement!

But fresh air through open windows is blowing like a gentle breeze, this breeze is reaching all the clergy and laity of the world, especially we young Catholics!

    From Silere non Possum:

Vatican City - Without clamor, without triumphant announcements or leaked communiqués to journalists, this morning Pope Leo XIV held his first private audience as the new Bishop of Rome. The recipient of the meeting was not a head of state or a high diplomatic representative, but Cardinal Baldassare Reina, Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome.

Leo XIV chose to begin his ministry as Pontiff in this way, marking in practice and not in words, his connection with the Urbe. No public emphasis on the meaning of the meeting, but a clear message: the Pope intends to be, first of all, the Bishop of Rome, for his priests and take care of them.

Behind the sobriety of gestures there is a deep awareness. Leo XIV knows well what happens inside the Vicariate and in the Diocese of Rome: the power games, the intrigues, the questionable choices that, over the years, have favored some to the detriment of others. A reality documented and denounced for a long time by rumors like Silere non possum. Yet, more than struggling with the shadows of the past, the new Pontiff seems to want to look forward, with lucidity, mildness, listening and a decisive step. His first concern is clear: the priests and the people of God of his diocese. It is to them that he wants to turn his energy and his care. And for this reason, on his first official day of meetings he chose to meet his vicar to whom he has already expressed the desire to meet the priests.

A symbolic and concrete gesture together marks the beginning of the journey that Leo XIV wishes to undertake as a pastor, close to his priests and his people. The attention that Pope Leone has immediately reserved for priestly vocations will also mean that the Pontiff will return to visit his seminary and dialogue with the trainers and future priests of his diocese. On May 31, 2025, Pope Prevost has already decided to preside over the presbytery ordinations in St. Peter's Basilica.

Thus begins, without clamor, a pontificate that announces itself sober, attentive to the real life of the Church and oriented to rediscover the authentic roots of Peter's ministry. Rome, once again, is in the center: unlike what has happened in recent times, the Pope does not exalt the title of Bishop of Rome to belittle that of Supreme Pontiff. On the contrary, he takes care with awareness and depth of his being Bishop of this Church, from which derives - by grace and by mission - also his universal responsibility as Pontiff of the Catholic Church.

The US President is set to accept a $400 million Boeing aircraft as a gift from the Gulf state’s royal family

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Democratic lawmakers who condemned his plans to accept a luxury Boeing jet from Qatar.

In a post on his Truth Social platform Trump stated on Monday that the Defense Department was receiving a 747 aircraft “as a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE” to temporarily replace the aging Air Force One, calling it a “very public and transparent transaction.”

He claimed that the arrangement upset what he described as “Crooked Democrats,” who, according to the president, insisted the government pay “TOP DOLLAR” for the plane instead. Trump dismissed the deal’s complexity, saying: “Anybody can do that! The Dems are World Class Losers!!!”

The US president is set to receive a super-luxury Boeing 747-8 from the Qatari royal family. ABC News first reported the pending aircraft deal ahead of his upcoming Middle East trip. The gift is expected to be officially announced this week, sources told the outlet. Valued at around $400 million, the plane, popularly known as the “flying palace,” could become the most expensive gift ever given to the US by a foreign government. Trump previously toured a Qatari-owned aircraft of the same model in February at Palm Beach International Airport.

Trump is set to visit Qatar during a trip to the Middle East this week. Qatari officials told The Hill the plane would not be handed over during the upcoming trip.

While the White House declined to confirm details, the president stated that the Defense Department would receive the gifted aircraft, which is expected to be refurbished into the new Air Force One. White House and DOJ lawyers reportedly determined that the gift is legal and does not violate bribery laws or the Constitution’s foreign gift ban.

Read more FILE PHOTO. A Boeing 747-8 of the Qatar government-owned company Qatar Amiri Flight. Trump to accept luxury ‘flying palace’ gift plane from Qatar – media

However, reports of the gifted plane drew sharp criticism from Democratic lawmakers, who accused Trump of using the presidency for personal gain.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, labeled the deal “a grift.”

“Trump must seek Congress’ consent to take this $300 million gift from Qatar. The Constitution is perfectly clear: no present ‘of any kind whatever’ from a foreign state without Congressional permission. A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift (and a grift),” Raskin wrote in a post on X.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt declined to confirm details of the deal but said: “Any gift given by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws,” according to Reuters.

The White House’s current Boeing 747-200 jets, in service since the early 1990s, have faced ongoing technical issues, prompting a longstanding effort to replace them.

A Boeing contract for two new Air Force One planes based on the 747-8 has been plagued by delays and rising costs, pushing delivery from the original 2024 target to as late as 2027 or 2028.

The bloc’s leaders pretend to be against fascism while actually following Nazi traditions, Slovak lawmaker Lubos Blaha has claimed

Senior EU officials, such as foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, represent a “tragedy” for the bloc, Slovak MEP Lubos Blaha has told RT. Blaha also accused top officials in Brussels of supporting fascism.

The MEP’s remarks come after Brussels criticized Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s attendance at Russia’s May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow last week.

Kallas warned EU officials and candidate countries against taking part in the event, urging them to travel to Kiev instead. Other EU officials warned that candidate states such as Serbia would have their status renewed if their leaders attended the celebrations in Russia.

According to Blaha, the criticism directed at Fico and other leaders, such as Serbia’s Aleksandar Vucic, wasn’t genuinely about the conflict in Ukraine. “The real truth is different. The real truth is that their anti-fascism is pretended,” he said.

Blaha used the example of this year’s ceremony in the European Parliament commemorating the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, describing it as somber.

“It was like a funeral. Everyone was so sad, and in the end, Beethoven was playing,” Blaha said, noting that the same music was used by Germany broadcasts after the Battle of Stalingrad. “This is the same tradition.”

“If the European Union is governed by people like Kaja Kallas, then it’s a tragedy,” he added.

Kallas, who previously served as the prime minister of Estonia, has repeatedly spoken out harshly against Russia and has labeled Moscow as the EU’s primary adversary, while advocating for increased militarization of the European bloc.

Read more Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas EU state asks citizens not to celebrate WWII Victory Day

Her warnings to EU member states and candidate countries about attending the Moscow Victory Day celebrations were met with condemnation from Russian officials, who labeled her threats as “blackmail.”

“Euro-Nazism is being reborn before our eyes,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in response to Kallas’ threats. “This is how the fascists 80 years ago forced those they considered ‘second-class people’ to renounce their homeland, ethnicity, and faith,” she wrote on Telegram.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also criticized Kallas as a “rabid Russophobe,” and recently claimed that “manifestations of neo-Nazism in Europe” are “significant,” and called for extensive efforts to combat the trend.

Echoing these sentiments, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recently claimed that neo-Nazism is on the rise in Europe. He called for a comprehensive “de-Nazification” effort not just in Ukraine, but across the entire continent.

Pro-life lawmakers from across the country are demanding that Congress put an end to federal funding for Planned Parenthood, calling on Republicans to use their “trifecta” in Washington.

The letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Idaho Senator Mike Crapo and Kentucky Rep. Brett Guthrie and signed by 183 legislators, urges Republican leadership to include a measure to defund “Big Abortion” in the budget reconciliation bill, which is scheduled for markups on Tuesday. Planned Parenthood rakes in tens of millions from taxpayers every year, according to its annual reports, while performing about 400,000 abortions between 2021 and 2022.

“As pro-life state legislators from across the country who are members of the National Pro-Life Leaders Network, we are deeply concerned with the way that big abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood prey on unborn children and hurt women, all while receiving hundreds of millions of dollars from American taxpayers,” the letter, first shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation, reads. “With a Republican trifecta in Washington, it is time to use the budget reconciliation process to defund big abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.”

The letter also cites several cases of botched abortions that have occurred at Planned Parenthood and deteriorating conditions at the clinics that had  disastrous results. In one case, a baby was never removed from a woman’s womb, and the woman later gave birth to the child who quickly passed away, according to The New York Times. At a Nebraska clinic in 2022 an abortion provider neglected to notice a woman was four months pregnant before inserting an IUD, leading her to deliver a stillborn baby just hours later.

“Planned Parenthood has regularly opposed basic health and safety requirements for their facilities, all while providing poor care,” the letter says. “Women deserve better than this. Women and girls can receive better and more comprehensive care at Federally Qualified Health Centers and community health centers that vastly outnumber Planned Parenthoods.”

The state of Missouri is currently suing Planned Parenthood for allegedly helping a man traffic a 13-year-old girl across state lines in order to receive an abortion without her parents’ knowledge.

“Pro life has always been a big issue for me; it’s something I believe down to my very core, and I have always been very disappointed that federal dollars go to support an organization like Planned Parenthood that is happily destroying life and babies,” Republican Pennsylvania Rep. Kathy Rap told the DCNF. ” I believe it is time to send a strong message to our congressional leaders, both in the House and Senate and to the administration, that the majority of the American people do not want to fund Planned Parenthood when women have other resources that they can seek out for funding for prenatal health and maternal health. I do not believe that most of our citizens want to support an organization whose main goal is to perform abortions.”

Planned Parenthood did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

Can the Annual Theft of $521,000,000,000 from the Federal Budget Be Stopped?

    Paul Craig Roberts

Democrat politicians led a break-in at a New Jersey ICE facility.  In Worcester, Massachusetts, Democrat city council member Etel Haxhiaj led an assault on local police and federal officers in an effort to prevent apprehension by ICE of a violent immigrant-invader that the Biden scum permitted to illegally enter America in August, 2022.  Local police demand action agains Etel Haxhiaj for assaulting police officers, but of course the Democrats support Etel Haxhiaj’s violence against the police, and nothing will happen to her unless the feds step in.  https://nypost.com/2025/05/10/us-news/chaotic-video-shows-massachusetts-ice-arrest-being-disrupted-by-unruly-crowd-leading-to-2-arrests/

The fact that the Democrats and their judges are so determined to keep  immigrant-invaders from being deported should tell us something.  We should also learn something from all the foreign names of Democrat politicians and judges.  The Camp of the Saints has deeply advanced into America.  The Democrats have made it clear that they intend to rule us in behalf of the millions of immigrant-invaders the Democrats have intentionally brought into our country.

Democrat presstitutes such as Politico are attempting to generate fear of Trump by alleging that ICE will soon be picking up and deporting American citizens.  And Trump is going to take away Social Security and destroy education, and so on.  The fantasies multiply as the presstitutes stoke the flames of fear of Trump’s efforts to protect America.  They don’t want America.  They want a Tower of Babel.

And people fall for the fear-mongering. ICE doesn’t help by picking up foreign students for deportation because they protested Israel’s destruction of Palestine, or by staging daylight raids in an immigrant-invader’s neighborhood. There’s no way we are going to rid ourselves of millions of illegals one by one.  Once a country is overrun, as America has been, it is for keeps.  Is America any longer America, or has America transitioned into a Tower of Babel?   The Democrat judges and the whore media are enforcing on us America as a Tower of Babel devoid of unity.

I think we are going to find out also that the organizations benefitting from what the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office concludes is $521,000,000,000 worth of larceny annually in the federal budget have squatters’ rights in the larceny.  The theft has gone on for so long and is so institutionalized that the beneficiaries of the fraud regard it as a property right.  In effect, those who have been defrauding us now have squatters’ rights in the fraud.

Two articles in the current issue of the City Journal address this serious matter. Steven Malanga brings to our attention that the federal budget funds anti-poverty, community building, social welfare, anti-crime and other such programs that never produce any results but continue to run for decades.  Congress funds these programs without even requiring that criteria be established for assessing their success. It seems the money mainly goes for building political machines and the wealth of local politicians primarily for the Democrats who control the inner cities.

Heather Mac Donald exposes the facts of the National Institutes of Health’s funding of medical research.  The NIH has been paying the universities where the research is conducted a cover charge equal to 69% of the grant to reimburse the universities for the cost of their infrastructure that supports the research. Universities are each receiving hundreds of million of dollars in “indirect funding” to pay for the university’s infrastructure used in the research.

But what does the cover charge really pay for?  It seems it pays for the extraordinary expansion of the size and scope of the administrative bureaucracy. There seem to be endless vice presidents, assistant and vice provosts, and associate deans whose jobs are to police language, thought, speech, political correctness and provide emotional comfort to those in need.

For example, the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania has an an associate vice provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, a vice dean for Inclusion and Diversity and an Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion (the same function three times), offices for Inclusion Initiatives and Social Justice Education, Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center, Black Cultural Center, Penn Women’s Center, a vice dean for Transgender Patient Advocate Program and the LGBT Student-Trainee-Faculty Mentorship Program.

And these listings are just the tip of the iceberg.

The effort of the Trump administration to cut back on the grant overhead charges that fund six figure administration salaries and administrators that apparently in some universities outnumber the faculties is being presented by the universities as “the death of science from lack of funding.”  Of course the whore media beats the drums loudly. The totally corrupt Democrat judges will jump in as they have in deportation and all other issues and rule that all of these claims on the taxpayers’ money are valid.

The position of the universities as I read it is that the Trump administration is attempting to take away their entitlement.  They are asserting squatters’ rights to their theft from the American people, and the Democrat judges will rule in their favor.

Indeed, so might the Republican ones as the judiciary sees in the situation the opportunity to seize power from the executive.

Americans need to understand that if Trump fails, tyranny is their future.

British PM Admits UK Being Engulfed in the Camp of the Saints

    Paul Craig Roberts

PM Keir Starmer said immigrant-invaders are turning Britain into an “island of strangers.”  He blames the Conservatives  for betraying the British people for cheap foreign labour that is “pulling our country apart.” Unlimited immigration has inflicted “incalculable damage” on Great Britain.  Starmer promises to reduce annual inflows by 100,000.  His program seems to be to reduce the rate at which England is becoming an “island of strangers,” not to stop the process.  The white birth rate is falling, and that of the immigrant-invaders is rising.  Before long there will be no more white countries.  The leaders of the white ethnicities thought delivering their countries into the hands of invaders was “the moral thing to do,” a clear indication that the West’s belief system has been destroyed.  Upon its new foundations the West is constructing a Sodom & Gomorrah Tower of Babel.

Care4Calais, an activist group for immigrant-invaders, accused Starmer of “fanning the fire of the far-right,” by using “shameful and dangerous language.”  Countries based on ethnicity and common values are unacceptable to the liberal-left.  Multiculturalism means a Tower of Babel, disunity, and as the immigrant-invaders gain power persecution of the remaining white population.  The Camp of the Saints is now upon us just as Jean Raspail predicted in 1973.  In the US the judiciary won’t allow President Trump to enforce the law and deport illegal aliens.

How can a country with no sense of itself beyond a geographical location that cannot defend its borders go to war with countries that know who they are, such as Russia, China, and Iran?  For whom is a Tower of Babel fighting?

We often hear U.S. and NATO spokesmen claim that they believe in a rules-based international order. They don’t.

The United States and its NATO allies have stressed repeatedly that Russia’s use of force to seize portions of Ukraine is reprehensible. They were emphatic on that point in 2014 when the Kremlin responded to the West’s role in overthrowing Ukraine’s democratically elected, pro-Russian president, Victor Yanukovych, by taking control of the Crimean Peninsula and then annexing it after a rigged referendum.  The furious NATO powers imposed a variety of economic sanctions against Russia.  Secretary of State John Kerry and other Western officials stated explicitly that such behavior was utterly unacceptable in a “rules-based” international system.

U.S. and European leaders took an even more hardline stance in February 2022 when Russia escalated the confrontation with Kyiv by launching a full-scale invasion and occupying major portions of Ukraine’s Donbass region. Washington and its allies promptly imposed a new array of even harsher economic sanctions on Russia.  They also deepened their involvement in the dispute by providing weapons sales and other military aid to Kyiv, transforming the fight between Ukraine and Russia into a de facto NATO proxy war against Russia.

NATO’s hypocrisy on the issue of one country seizing another country’s territory by force is breathtaking.  NATO as an entity committed the same offense when it bombed Serbia to compel Belgrade to relinquish control of its province of Kosovo in 1999.  Moreover, a NATO member, Turkey, has committed blatant acts of aggression against three neighbors, Cyprus, Iraq, and Syria, to secure illicit territorial gains.  NATO as an alliance, and the United States as NATO’s leading power, have tolerated Ankara’s rogue behavior, even as they express utter indignation at Moscow’s similar conduct.

Turkish troops moved into Cyprus in the summer of 1974, ostensibly to protect Turkish Cypriots, who made up a little less than 20 percent of the island’s population and were repeatedly involved in violent confrontations with the larger Greek Cypriot community. On this occasion, after the initial intervention, Turkish forces expanded outward from the predominantly Turkish areas in the north and promptly occupied ethnic Greek portions of the island, creating thousands of refugees.

Turkey’s aggression against Cyprus was more brazen and extensive than Russia’s absorption of Crimea or even the takeover of oblasts in the Donbass following the Kremlin’s larger 2022 incursion.  Moscow now controls approximately 20 percent of Ukraine.  By the time Turkish forces in Cyprus finished their offensive, they occupied nearly 40 percent of the country.

Washington’s reaction to Ankara’s aggression was tepid at best.  Indeed, critics contend that Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was quietly supportive of Turkey’s actions.  Members of Washington’s military elite definitely did not wish to antagonize their Turkish counterparts.  Widespread anger in Congress about a NATO member committing such a blatant act of aggression led to the imposition of some sanctions against Turkey, but Ankara’s supporters in the executive branch and the defense industry worked to dilute those sanctions from the outset.  Within a few years, the punitive measures faded away, and military cooperation between Washington and Ankara returned to normal. Congress lifted the embargo on sales of arms to Turkey in 1978.

U.S. policymakers soon were content to see the Cyprus situation become a frozen conflict.  Year after year, Washington’s supposed mediation efforts to produce political reunification of Cyprus led to little progress.  More than a half century after Turkey’s invasion and occupation of its neighbor, Ankara effectively controls northern Cyprus through a puppet client state that it created.  Over 100,000 settlers from mainland Turkey were brought in, from 1974 to 2005, to replace Greek Cypriot residents who were expelled during the 1974 war.

Cyprus has been the most prominent victim of Ankara’s use of military force to gain control of additional territory, but it is not the only one.  After the 2003 overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi regime and the establishment of the self-governing Kurdish region in northern Iraq, Turkish military forces conducted dozens of incursions.  During Donald Trump’s first administration, Ankara took even more extensive action against Kurdish-controlled regions in northern Syria.  Turkey’s government has not made a formal claim to land in either country, but Ankara effectively controls a significant swath of territory beyond its border with both neighbors.

Washington’s alleged commitment to a rules-based international order is phony.  That is especially the case with respect to the use of force for territorial conquest.  U.S. leaders stood by with scarcely a murmur of protest as Israel seized and ultimately annexed Syria’s Golan Heights following the 1967 war.  Nor did U.S. policymakers say much when Israeli governments moved settlers into the West Bank, forcibly displacing Palestinian residents.  More recently, Washington has actively collaborated with Israel’s efforts to dominate Gaza and expel its Palestinian inhabitants.

Such Israeli actions are at least finally getting extensive attention and growing condemnation around the world.  The territorial depredations of another rogue U.S. ally, Turkey, have gone largely unnoticed for decades.  That attitude needs to change.  U.S. leaders should hold a fellow NATO member to an even higher standard than they do other countries with respect to military aggression and the illicit seizure of territory.  The contrast between Washington’s vehement condemnation of Russia’s actions in Ukraine and its tolerance of Turkey’s even more egregious actions in Syria, Iraq, and especially Cyprus is both striking and sickening.

The Energy and Commerce Committee has unveiled their portion of the reconciliation bill that Republicans plan to advance in Congress to cut the massive size of the federal government.

The good news for pro-life Americans is that the measure includes language to defund Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, a leading pro-life group, celebrated the news.

“It’s time to stop forcing taxpayers to fund the Big Abortion industry. Thanks to Speaker Johnson and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie, this year’s budget reconciliation bill contains the commonsense language to make that happen,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America in comments to LifeNews.com.

Click here to sign up for pro-life news alerts from LifeNews.com

She continued: “Taxpayers should never be mandated to prop up an industry that profits from ending lives and harming women and girls. Take Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain. While their non-abortion services have sharply declined, abortions, transgender ‘treatments’ and political spending against Republicans are skyrocketing. While raking in close to $2 million a day in tax dollars, they are responsible for the deaths of almost 400,000 babies in a single year. Women and girls have also died on Planned Parenthood’s watch.”

Dannenfelser added: “Better alternatives to businesses like Planned Parenthood exist for women. They will receive high quality care at community health centers that outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities 15:1 nationwide. These centers are accessible and provide much more comprehensive care without performing abortions – and because Medicaid dollars follow patients, they can continue to use Medicaid.

“Forcing Americans to fund the abortion industry is a gross abuse of our hard-earned tax dollars and it’s unconscionable how long it has gone on. President Trump and Republicans included defunding in their 2017 reconciliation bill. We have a historic opportunity to get the job done in 2025 and we look forward to a vote on the House floor.”

Last week, a few Republicans in the House and Senate expressed their reservations about defunding Planned Parenthood within the budget bill. Asked about that, President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Republicans will resolve internal disagreements to advance legislation defunding Planned Parenthood.

“I don’t know yet. I have to see because you’re just telling me that for the first time, we’ll work something out,” Trump said in response.

The reconciliation process, which allows legislation to pass the Senate with a simple majority, offers Republicans a rare opportunity to strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business. Pro-life groups argue that taxpayer dollars, even if not directly funding abortions, indirectly subsidize Planned Parenthood’s operations, which include killing over 390,000 babies every year.

However, three House Republicans—Reps. John Curtis of Utah, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania, and Anthony D’Esposito of New York—are reportedly hesitant to support the defunding measure with Planned Parenthood defunding in it. They fear political backlash in their competitive 2026 reelection campaigns.

Pro-life advocates emphasize that community health centers, which outnumber Planned Parenthood clinics and provide comprehensive care without abortions, can absorb patients if funding is redirected.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a staunch pro-life advocate, has signaled that defunding “big abortion” is a priority in the reconciliation bill, which also addresses Trump’s agenda on taxes, border security, and energy.

The Hyde Amendment already prohibits federal funds from directly paying for abortions, except in cases of rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life. However, Planned Parenthood receives approximately $700 million annually through Medicaid reimbursements and Title X grants. Pro-life leaders argue this funding frees up resources for Planned Parenthood’s abortion operations.

The reconciliation bill, which allows legislation to pass with a simple majority in both chambers, is seen as a critical opportunity to strip federal funding from Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business. The abortion company received nearly $700 million in taxpayer funds in its 2022-2023 fiscal year, killing 392,715 babies in abortions, according to its annual report.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) wants the big budget reconciliation plan extending President Donald Trump’s tax cuts sent to his desk — ready for signature — by July 4. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) would like it even sooner: Memorial Day.

Meanwhile, Representative Mary Miller (R-Ill.) is waging a fierce campaign among her Republican colleagues to make defunding Planned Parenthood a non-negotiable piece of the final proposal.

On Monday, Miller sent a passionate letter to Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, obtained by Breitbart News. In it, she urged Guthrie to “use every legislative option available to cease all federal funds going to Planned Parenthood,” exposing the organization’s deep entanglement in abortion and transgender treatments. “Abortions and transgender treatments have exploded in clinics across the country,” she wrote.

Citing the Charlotte Lozier Institute, Miller highlighted that “abortions made up 97.1% of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy services from 2021-2022, performing nearly 400,000 abortions.” She also underscored the crisis in her home state, noting, “In 2023, my home state of Illinois performed 72,143 abortions, the most in our history since the state started reporting abortion totals in 1973.” Miller laid bare Planned Parenthood’s financial empire, stating, “Due to a lack of decisive Congressional action, Planned Parenthood has become a federally funded health network with private assets valued at $2.5 billion. Recent numbers show that Planned Parenthood received nearly $700 million in taxpayer revenue from 2022-2023.”

Her letter concluded with a call to action: “It is essential that we protect taxpayer dollars and stop funding this organization. President Trump has already issued an Executive Order that implements such a plan. Therefore, I urge you to do everything possible to ensure Planned Parenthood never receives another penny of taxpayer dollars.”

Speaking to Breitbart, Miller doubled down, declaring, “Planned Parenthood is a multi-billion-dollar abortion business that continues to receive millions in federal funding.” She praised Trump’s leadership, stating, “President Trump had it right when he issued an Executive Order to cut off taxpayer dollars from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood,” and insisted, “it’s time for Congress to make that policy permanent. I urge the Energy and Commerce Committee to ensure that not another dime of American tax dollars goes to this murder-for-profit organization.”

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party has disbanded itself, saying its members will now fight for their rights by political means

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has said it will disband and has ended its armed struggle against Türkiye. Ankara welcomed the move as a milestone towards a “terror-free Türkiye” but said the group must fully implement its decision.

The PKK, which has waged an insurgency against Türkiye since 1984 to gain autonomy for Kurds, chose to lay down arms at a party congress in early May, but only announced the decision on Monday. In a statement, it said that the PKK has “carried the Kurdish issue to a level where it can be solved by democratic politics, and the PKK has completed its mission in that sense.”

The move came after a public call in February by PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been confined in a Turkish jail on separatism charges since 1999, urging the group to dissolve and adopt nonviolent methods. At the time, Ocalan sent a letter to party members saying, “there is no alternative to democracy in the pursuit and realization of a political system.” Following the message, the PKK declared a unilateral ceasefire.

Read more Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. Erdogan’s bane: The Turkish president’s most powerful rival is arrested. What now?

Omer Celik, the spokesman for Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party welcomed the decision as “an important stage in terms of the ‘terror-free Türkiye goal”.

“If terrorism is completely ended, the door to a new era will open,” he added, cautioning that “this decision needs to be implemented in practice and realized in all its dimensions.” Celik also insisted that the dissolution should also apply to “all branches and extensions of the PKK and its illegal structures.”

He was apparently referring to the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG), which Ankara deems an extension of the PKK. The group, which enjoys US backing and mainly operates in Syria, has yet to comment on the PKK decision.

Founded in 1978, the PKK launched an armed insurgency against the Turkish state, initially seeking independence and later autonomy and civil rights for Kurds. Ankara sought to suppress the group for decades. The conflict has killed an estimated 40,000 people, many of them civilians, and displaced hundreds of thousands in southeastern Türkiye. The group is listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU.

Cops enforce laws. On first impression that may seem a good thing as one considers long in place laws, such as against assault, murder, and theft, that can help protect individuals’ ability to live in peace. But, laws have proliferated over time in America so that cops are spending a significant portion of their effort enforcing laws against things like drugs and even speech — acting to restrain instead of protect the exercise of individual rights.

Coming with the expansion of laws has been the conversion, continuing during the Donald Trump administration, of police departments largely into effectively military forces with military-style practices and weapons more suited for fighting against an opposing military force than for serving and protecting the people in a community.

A demonstration of the extent of this conversion of police forces came up in recent oral argument at the United States Supreme Court for the case of Martin v. United States. There a lawyer for the US government argued, in the case concerning a wrong house being hit by a brutal Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) no-knock SWAT raid, that it is acceptable for police not to even check the house number out front before detonating an explosive in a house, knocking down a door, and rushing in guns drawn. Crazy but true. Read here a Friday Reason article by Billy Binion that includes an excerpt from the oral argument and some background details.

Any push for statehood rewards Hamas, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has claimed, after several nations signaled support

Israel will respond to any nations who move to unilaterally recognize the state of Palestine, Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has claimed.

Saar issued the warning at a joint press conference with his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, on Sunday, following announcements by several countries of their intent to recognize Palestine.

The Israeli diplomat claimed that any such unilateral moves would undermine prospects for the peace process and would compel the Jewish state to take measures in response.

Palestine’s sovereignty is recognized by 147 countries, including Russia and the majority of nations in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. However, most Western European countries, as well as Israel and the US, do not officially consider Palestine a sovereign state. Many nations have advocated for Palestinian recognition as the only way to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict, which escalated in 2023 when Israel launched a military operation in Gaza following a surprise Hamas attack.

Saar claimed such initiatives were “not constructive but counterproductive” and served “as a prize for Hamas terror.”

Read more US President Donald Trump. Trump could recognize Palestine – media

Wadephul, however, said that a two-state solution remained “the best chance for Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace, security, and dignity.”

The Media Line news outlet reported on Sunday, citing unnamed diplomatic sources, that US President Donald Trump could formally recognize the state of Palestine at the upcoming Gulf-US summit in Saudi Arabia.

Although US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has denied any such plans, speculation has grown in the wake of comments Trump made earlier this month in a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Trump repeatedly hinted at “a very, very big announcement about a certain subject,” which he said would be revealed either before or during his upcoming trip to the Middle East.

Last month, French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that Paris could move to recognize a Palestinian state as early as June, during a United Nations conference in New York.

Russia has long advocated for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, reaffirming its stance during a recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Moscow. Russia has also called for an immediate end to the violence in Gaza.

I can remember when Francis was elected pope, very quickly the heterodox right starting panicking that Pope Francis was going to turn upside down the Church as Pope Benedict had led it. It started immediately when Pope Francis abandoned the tradition of the Mozzetta and papal stole and only put a stole on for his first blessing after he asked those before him to bless him. And then he immediately got rid of the stole. Those who love papal traditions and trappings that transcend the man who is elected, were aghast as they should have been.

What happened 13 years ago is happening again today with the election of Pope Leo XIV. He does not disdain the trappings of the institutional papacy. The heterodox left is freaking out, not only over the Mozzetta and papal stole, which Leo wears so impeccably, but also because he now uses an upgraded vehicle  for transportation and will live in the Apostolic Palace instead of the Vatican Motel VI.

Leo is also very clear. They know he will not have a magisterium of off-the-cuff homilies and interviews and act like a pop psychologist decrying the mental illness of backwards. The Vatican will NOT have to do damage control over some of the things that they had to do when Francis spoke.

There will be a solid papal magisterium as there has been with all other popes except Francis.

Pope Leo condemns liturgy as spectacle and superficial!

Finally, Pope Leo as a priest and bishop decried that over the last 60 years, the liturgy has been transformed or celebrated as a spectacle rather than as a Mystery. For him a spectacle is superficial and distracts from the true nature of the Liturgy as people discovering the Mystery of Christ, not technical spectacles.

I would suspect that Pope Leo appreciates the TLM for its superb enablement of priests and laity to experience the solid foundation of Jesus Christ in the Mystery of the Mass, not some kind of man made spectacle of light and thunder.

This is an example of superficial spectacle and entertainment that moves the Mass away from Christ and Mystery!:

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for unconditional negotiations to begin on Thursday

Beijing has voiced support for renewed peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The statement follows a proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin for negotiations to begin as early as Thursday, and an offer from Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky to appear in person at the negotiations.

Putin on Sunday urged Kiev to resume talks suspended in 2022, stating that discussions could take place in Türkiye, which Ankara has reportedly agreed to host.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday that China supports “all efforts dedicated to peace” and hopes both sides can reach a “fair, lasting, binding peace agreement acceptable to all parties” through negotiation.

Lin added that Beijing has consistently called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and would continue to play “a constructive role in defusing the crisis.”

Ukraine and the European NATO members that make up the ‘coalition of the willing’ have demanded that Russia agree to a 30-day truce before any direct negotiations take place.

US President Donald Trump, however, has called for Russia-Ukraine negotiations to start as soon as possible, arguing that Washington has done its part in creating the conditions for diplomacy. Moscow has expressed concern that Kiev would use a ceasefire to reconstitute its military forces before renewing hostilities.

Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky, who banned direct negotiations with Russia in 2022 as long as Putin remains in office, said on Sunday that he is willing to meet with the Russian leader in Istanbul if his conditions – including a 30-day truce – are met. Axios subsequently cited a senior Ukrainian official who said Zelensky will be present in Türkiye on Thursday even if Russia does not announce a ceasefire on Monday, as Kiev has demanded.

Minnesota Is The Most Financially Literate State In The US

How well are Americans managing their money, and how does it vary between the states?

This financial literacy map, via Visual Capitalist's Pallavi Rao, attempts to answer both questions using 2025 data from WalletHub, a personal finance services company.

They ranked and scored states on three main benchmarks: financial education, financial planning (or consumer habits), and how Wallethub’s own users performed on their financial literacy survey.

ℹ️ These benchmarks are further subdivided into 17 metrics (credit score, savings, personal finance courses, etc.) and are weighted differently. Please read the source’s methodology section for a full breakdown.

The Most Financially Savvy U.S. State

Minnesota is the most financially literate U.S. state with 73 points, according to WalletHub’s latest analysis.

Here’s some sub indicators where Minnesota outperformed the rest of the country.

    • High-schoolers must take at least one personal finance program.
    • Only 15% of the surveyed Minnesotans spent more than they made—the lowest across all states.
    • Highest median credit score in the country (751).

And here’s how each state scores out of 100. Figures are rounded.

Rank State State Code Total Score
    (Out of 100) 1 Minnesota MN 73 2 Colorado CO 69 3 Nebraska NE 69 4 Virginia VA 69 5 Wisconsin WI 68 6 New Hampshire NH 68 7 Iowa IA 67 8 Washington WA 67 9 Vermont VT 67 10 New Jersey NJ 67 11 Maryland MD 67 12 Florida FL 66 13 Utah UT 66 14 Pennsylvania PA 65 15 Maine ME 65 16 Michigan MI 65 17 Oregon OR 65 18 North Carolina NC 65 19 Ohio OH 65 20 Indiana IN 65 21 Missouri MO 65 22 Arizona AZ 64 23 Massachusetts MA 64 24 Kansas KS 64 25 Connecticut CT 64 26 Delaware DE 64 27 North Dakota ND 64 28 West Virginia WV 63 29 Texas TX 63 30 Idaho ID 63 31 Rhode Island RI 63 32 Illinois IL 62 33 Georgia GA 62 34 Wyoming WY 62 35 New York NY 61 36 Nevada NV 61 37 South Carolina SC 61 38 Montana MT 60 39 New Mexico NM 60 40 Alabama AL 60 41 Hawaii HI 60 42 District of Columbia DC 58 43 California CA 58 44 Alaska AK 58 45 Louisiana LA 58 46 Mississippi MS 58 47 Tennessee TN 58 48 Kentucky KY 57 49 South Dakota SD 56 50 Oklahoma OK 54 51 Arkansas AR 53

Meanwhile, Arkansas tested the worst, with 53 points. Its score is impacted by having the second-worst performance on WalletHub’s financial literacy survey.

The Overlooked Part of Financial Literacy: Managing Debt

While investing in the markets is all the rage—particularly with the rise of no-fee platforms—WalletHub’s benchmarks prioritize an often overlooked part of money management: debt.

America’s credit card debt collectively crossed $1 trillion in 2023, and it’s only been growing since.

On average, American households have about $5,000 in outstanding credit card balances, which can take anywhere between one to two years to pay off depending on monthly incomes.

Of course, managing expenditures to avoid or reduce debt has been particularly difficult in the multiple years of post-pandemic inflation.

The US president has said he aims to reduce prescription drug prices by matching American rates to the lowest worldwide

US President Donald Trump is set to sign a sweeping executive order to cut prescription drug prices in America by up to 80%, in what he teased as “one of the most important and impactful” orders in the nation’s history.

In a post on his Truth Social network on Sunday, Trump cryptically announced that his “next TRUTH will be one of the most important and impactful I have ever issued.”

Three hours later, the president announced that he will sign “one of the most consequential Executive Orders in our Country’s history,” aimed at cutting prescription drug costs by aligning them with the lowest global prices. The signing is scheduled for 9am Monday.

“I will be instituting a MOST FAVORED NATION’S POLICY whereby the United States will pay the same price as the Nation that pays the lowest price anywhere in the World,” Trump said in a follow-up post. “Prescription Drug and Pharmaceutical prices will be REDUCED, almost immediately, by 30 percent to 80 percent.”

The US currently spends around $400 billion a year on prescription drugs, often paying triple what other countries do and more than any other nation, according to the National Health Expenditure Accounts.

Trump argued that the change will, “for the first time in many years, bring FAIRNESS TO AMERICA,” save trillions, and lower healthcare costs nationwide.

“Our Country will finally be treated fairly, and our citizens Healthcare Costs will be reduced by numbers never even thought of before,” he added.

The policy will affect Medicare, which insures around 70 million older Americans. During his previous term, Trump sought to cut prices for physician-administered drugs by benchmarking them against rates in peer nations with government-set pricing. The order was blocked by US courts and later rescinded by the administration of former President Joe Biden.

Legal barriers to these policies were removed in 2022 when the Democrat-led Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, granting Medicare limited negotiating powers.

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, which has sued the Trump administration over similar efforts, told the Financial Times that “government price setting in any form is bad for American patients” and blamed rising costs on “middlemen in the system.” The pharmaceutical sector has also campaigned against price caps, warning they could limit innovation and reduce spending on research.

Trump rejected the claims, accusing drug companies of using research costs as an excuse to overcharge consumers. “All of these costs were, and would be, for no reason whatsoever, borne by the ‘suckers’ of America, ALONE,” he said.

Tweets like the one we share below allude that the Fed is doing stealth QE, despite the fact that they publicly claim to be conducting QT. Given the importance of the Fed balance sheet, let's dive into the stealth QE accusation and uncover the facts.

The graphic within the Tweet contains the official Treasury Department announcement of last Tuesday’s ten-year Treasury auction. The red arrow highlights that the Fed, via its SOMA account, bought $14.8 billion of the auction notes. While the Fed is buying, leading to stealth QE claims, they are not adding to their balance sheet. Under the current QT regime, the Fed targets a $5 billion monthly decline in its Treasury securities holdings. For example, about $76 billion of its bonds will mature in May. Therefore, if $76 billion naturally leaves the balance sheet but the goal is for a $5 billion decline, they must buy $71 billion throughout the month.

Another bit of false information we hear is that Fed purchases are making Treasury auctions appear better than they are. This, like stealth QE, is patently false. The size of the auctions is announced in advance. After the auction buyers and yield are determined, the Fed buys additional bonds from the Treasury at the predetermined auction yield. Thus, the Fed's purchase of bonds does not affect the auction statistics. The auction shown below was for $42 billion. The relevant auction statistics are based on the $42 billion and the type of buyers.

    Market Trading Update

Last week, we discussed that while the market improved sharply, the underlying economic data continues to decline steadily. However, given that the data was not recessionary, the market rallied and took out some key resistance levels. To wit:

“This past week, two reports confirmed the economy is slowing. First, there was the weak GDP report, which showed growth of roughly one percent, after discounting the impact of the trade deficit. Secondly, while the employment number was higher than expected, job growth also slowed. However, those reports should have tempered market enthusiasm as they reduced hopes for Fed rate cuts. However, the market pushed higher as investors raced to jump back into “risk assets” as the market cleared initial resistance at the 20-DMA and reversed all of the ‘Liberation Day” losses.‘”

The market paused its advance before the Fed meeting on Wednesday, which was remarkably uneventful. The Fed held rates steady as expected and did not provide much guidance regarding its forecast for future rate cuts. However, on Thursday, the Trump administration discussed its first “trade deal” with the UK. Notably, the US has a trade surplus with the UK, making negotiating a trade deal easier. Nonetheless, announcing a long-awaited agreement gave the market hope that more deals eventually will follow. Unfortunately, other trade deals with actual “trade deficit” countries may be tougher and take much longer to negotiate.

Technically, the market is beginning to repair much of the damage from the “Liberation Day” tariff announcements. However, on Thursday, we made the case that we are still tracing out the 2022 market analogy. As shown in the weekly chart below, in 2022, the market sold off and triggered a weekly moving-average crossover in early March. Immediately following that selloff, the market rallied back to those longer-term moving averages and briefly broke above. That “bear market rally,” sucked investors back into the market, just to “rug pull” from beneath them. Such is how correctional markets work.

You will notice that the recent selloff has also triggered that same moving average crossover, and immediately coincided with a reflexive rally. The market has broken above the first moving average, challenging the second as investors and the media are increasingly bullish on stocks. Will the market “rug pull” on investors once again? I don’t know. However, as stated, if we are in a more protracted market correction, the risk is elevated, and we could see another retracement to support before this correction is complete.

    Weekly Technical Update

Reasons The Correction Could Be Over, Or Not

It is always difficult to say whether this is a “bear market” rally while you are in the midst of it. In hindsight, these things are easy to identify, and investors have plenty of reasons to play the “could’ve should’ve” game. However, some valid arguments exist about why the recent correction was just that, and may now be over.

    1. Q1 earnings were above average, which is boosting investor confidence, particularly in the “Mag 7” and related AI stories.
    2. Investor sentiment is improving from extremely low levels and is not overly bullish.
    3. Treasury yields are coming down, along with inflationary pressures.
    4. Uncertainty around tariffs, the main driver of the correction, is rapidly becoming less of a threat.
    5. Recession risks have fallen sharply with the latest economic data.
    6. Market valuations have corrected somewhat in recent weeks.

Of course, there are reasons for concern that should also not be dismissed.

    1. Economic data and consumer confidence are getting weaker.
    2. Political policy uncertainty remains elevated.
    3. Despite the recent rally, the market still suffers significant technical damage.
    4. Investors were not prepared for the recent magnitude of the correction, providing potentially significant sellers wanting to get out. (Trapped longs)
    5. Monetary policy uncertainty remains elevated.
    6. Valuations, while reduced, remain well elevated from the long-term median and average.

With balanced risks, investors will likely benefit by remaining cautious and managing risk exposures until a more bullish path is exposed.

    The Week Ahead

Inflation data highlights the week, with CPI on Tuesday and PPI on Thursday. The current estimate is for CPI to increase by 0.3% after falling by 0.1% last month. While the updated inflation data will be well followed, it may be too early to see the impact of tariffs. Accordingly, the market may discount any good inflation news. In addition to PPI, retail sales, and a speech by Jerome Powell are also on the calendar for Thursday. Moreover, several Fed members will opine on Fed policy this week.

Employment Data Confirms The Economy Is Slowing

While coming in much stronger than expected, the latest employment data confirmed what we already suspected: the economy is slowing. The reason the employment data is so important is that without employment growth, the economy stalls. It takes, on average, about 200,000 jobs each month to keep up with population growth, which ultimately keeps the economy growing. That is because, as discussed in last week’s #BullBearReport, the consumer comprises about 70% of economic growth. To wit:

There is currently no evidence that the economy is slipping into a recession. However, if you want to know if an economic decline will evolve into a recession, there is one key factor to consider: consumer spending. Consumer spending comprises nearly 70% of the GDP calculation, and everything else, from business investment to imports and exports, is a function of the consumer’s “demand.” In other words, if the consumer is slowing down or contracting spending, businesses will not “invest” in expansion projects, increasing employment, or buying more products for resale. That relationship is shown in the chart below, which compares PCE to employment and private investment.”

    PCE vs Investment vs Employment

However, most crucially, consumers can not consume without producing something first. Production must come first to generate the income needed for that consumption. The cycle is displayed below.

Assessing a bear market rally proves challenging when you experience it firsthand. It is only in hindsight that the complete picture reveals itself to investors. Of course, after a bear market rally, investors tend to review their investments and speculate on what they should have done differently.

Retail investors seem to view the recent sharp correction as possibly finished. As I noted last week on X, despite the near 20% correction in the markets, retail investors piled into US equities at a record pace. Of course, historically, retail investors were considered a contrarian indicator, but in recent years, particularly post-pandemic, they have been aggressive buyers of any dip in the market. Of course, after 15 years of monetary and fiscal interventions to stave off deeper bear markets, their "buy the dip" mentality is unsurprising.

    Retail investor flows into equities

Before we go further, we should discuss what a "bear market rally" is to frame better our discussion about what the possibilities and probabilities of what happens next.

Bear Market Rally Or Just A Correction?

A bear market rally represents a short-term increase in stock prices that emerges while the market is in a downward trend. Such price rallies bring forth positive expectations because markets experience significant upward movements throughout several weeks or months. These rallies do not indicate any actual market recovery. They serve as brief interruptions before the dominant downward trend continues. The general drivers of these bear market rallies generally result from investors buying back their short positions, market participants feeling increasingly optimistic, and technical indicators showing oversold conditions. As such, they increase risk assets.

However, the fundamental problems that initiated the previous corrective phase are still present. Such factors generally range from declining earnings to monetary condition changes, rising recession risk, economic policy uncertainty, or a combination that persists despite temporary price increases. Reality eventually returns to market fundamentals, which makes the rally disappear before the bearish trend reemerges. A good example was 2022, where investors experienced several bear market rallies amid the Federal Reserve increasing interest rates while Russia invaded Ukraine. Each time the bear market rally occurred, it sucked bullish investors back into the market and left them stranded.

    Bear Market Rally Example

Conversely, a correction, which occurs during an upward market trend and represents a decline of 10% or more, differs from a bear market rally. Generally, a correction is a short, singular down cycle within a rising trend. These events typically stem from short-term market anxieties, including overbought positions, geopolitical disturbances, and policy modifications. Yet, they do not shift the future direction of the market. The market stabilizes after a correction because positive economic trends and favorable earnings support its upward movement. The fundamental distinction rests in the environment and period of the market situation. The basic trend stays solid during a bull market correction, and investors will eventually experience positive outcomes from new price peaks. A good example of corrections within a bullish trend is evident in the 2023-2024 market. Despite a bank crisis, concerns of AI, or leveraged blowups, the market recovered quickly and moved to new highs.

    2023-2024 Bull Market Trend

The risk for investors is the real-time determination of what type of corrective action we are in. Investors who reenter risk assets during a bear market rally face additional market declines since the primary downward trend continues after the brief recovery. Investors who buy the dip during a corrective phase in a bull market benefit.

One grievance I often receive from readers is that I don't tell you the answer. The reason is that neither I nor anyone else can predict the future. All I can do for you is address the possibilities and probabilities of what can happen so you can manage your investment risk accordingly.

With that said, let's dig into both cases.

    Schedule an appointment

The Bull Case For A Correction

The bulls can certainly make a case for continuing the bull market that began in October 2022.

First, Q1 earnings delivered above-average results overall but were primarily driven by major technology companies and the AI-powered "Magnificent 7." That cohort continues to provide the cornerstone for investor optimism. However, even though the largest capitalization-weighted companies delivered the bulk of earnings, the proportion of companies beating estimates remained well above the long-term average of 74%.

Secondly, financial conditions refer to current conditions across financial markets that can affect the dynamics of the economy. Those factors include improved interest rate levels, U.S. Treasury yields, credit risk spreads, equity valuations, and currency strength, which are supportive of the financial markets.

Furthermore, sentiment among both professional and retail investors has rebounded from its profoundly negative state, which is bringing buyers back into the market. Notably, that sentiment remains far from optimistic, providing further support for asset prices. The chart below shows the Z-score (standard deviation) of the net bullish sentiment of both retail and professional investors. Profoundly negative readings are often coincident with market lows.

Overall, investors maintain a favorable position toward the market because the current conditions provide sufficient space for constructive improvements without leading to excessive speculation. The recent market decline resulting from tariff concerns has proven more significant than expected. However, it is worth noting that spikes in policy uncertainty tend to mark the bottom of market corrections rather than the beginning. Given that policy uncertainty around tariffs and other political statements about trade barriers has reduced in intensity lately, this could become supportive for the market.

Are these factors a guarantee that the recent market correction is over? No. But historically, depressed sentiment, high levels of policy uncertainty, and easing financial conditions have often been the contrarian setup that investors should be looking for.

But let's review the case for a bear market rally.

Why This Could Still Be A Bear Market Rally

Multiple indicators indicate this could be a bear market rally. Since markets are forward-looking, investors focus on future earnings growth to justify paying higher valuation multiples today. The problem for the market currently is that economic data, particularly the key ingredient of employment, which drives consumption, is softening. As we discussed in this past weekend's #BullBearReport such is critical given that employment and consumption drive earnings growth.

“Since 1947, earnings per share have grown at 7.7% annually, while the economy expanded by 6.40% annually. That close relationship in growth rates should be logical, particularly given the significant role that consumer spending has in the GDP equation.” – Market Forecasts Are Very Bullish

    GDP vs earnings

“Since, consumer spending comprises nearly 70% of the GDP calculation, everything else, from business investment to imports and exports, is a function of the consumer’s “demand.” In other words, if the consumer is slowing down or contracting spending, businesses will not 'invest' in expansion projects, increasing employment, or buying more products for resale. That relationship is shown in the chart below, which compares PCE to jobs and private investment.”

    PCE vs Investment vs Employment

Economic data is softening as post-COVID monetary supports fade. As such, consumer confidence indicators show a downward trend, especially regarding expectations about the future. The chart below shows the difference between current and future expectations. Historically, very low readings are consistent with more protracted bear markets and deeper corrections.

Lastly, the market's technical backdrop remains a near-term concern. While momentum and relative strength have improved, those factors are beginning to wane, suggesting buyers may be reaching near-term exhaustion. Secondly, volume has been weak during this corrective process. If this were just a short-term correction, we would have liked to see much stronger buying coming into the market. Finally, support is just below current market levels, which may limit near-term declines. However, there is formidable overhead resistance just above. The 100 and 200-DMA and the January lows will likely prove challenging for the markets to crack without a pullback to support first.

    Market Trading Update

As noted, numerous investors failed to predict how quickly or dramatically the market decline would be. As such, these "trapped longs" will likely become sellers as soon as this rally falters. While our 2022 example of bear market rallies set new lows, this does not mean we will repeat that process. A pullback to support could hold if economic data stabilizes, trade deals progress, or the Federal Reserve cuts rates.

    Conclusion

So, what does this mean for investors? With no clear indication of the market's next move, investors will likely benefit from managing risk exposures. Moreover, investors must avoid making absolute decisions because both sides present compelling evidence. More often than not, markets resolve themselves in a more bullish fashion. Therefore, adopting a more bearish view has a risk associated with it. The current market rally does not necessarily negate the risk of this being a bear market rally. Nor does it signify the end of the correction.

The essential question is whether market risks are appropriately incorporated into prices and if upcoming returns justify additional market participation. For now, caution is prudent. The current macroeconomic environment shows gradual improvement without being strong. While Q1 earnings reports showed strength, the most notable risk to investors is the drastic cuts to forward earnings. Such certainly does not portray economic optimism.

S&P earnings estimates as of May 1st

Investors can do a few things to navigate the market's next move.

    1. Focus on maintaining portfolio equilibrium instead of following recent market gains.
    2. Review your current exposure positions for alignment with current risk patterns.
    3. Reassess position sizes, tighten stops, and avoid concentration in crowded trades.
    4. Risk management can be achieved by combining cash reserves with portfolio hedging strategies.

The trick to navigating markets is not to try to “time” the market. That is impossible. Successful long-term management is understanding when “enough is enough” and being willing to take profits and protect your gains. That is our situation for many stocks after the robust rally from the recent lows.

With markets in a corrective process and trading below long-term moving averages, there is an opportunity to rebalance risk and reduce portfolio volatility.

Unfortunately, many investors will opt to “hope” for further gains, but will sell at lower levels if the correction continues.

    Trade accordingly.

"It's The Worst Scandal Ever" - Judicial Watch Founder Warns 'America Is Under Siege'

    Via Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com,

Renowned attorney Larry Klayman predicted on USAWatchdog.com that there would be full-blown, legal civil war happening in the court system.  He also predicted that violence from the “rabid left” would not only increase but explode.

Klayman, founder of Judicial Watch and now Freedom Watch USA, says there are now more than 233 federal court cases trying to stop or delay President Trump and his Administration.

Klayman is here to update us on what is going on with the struggle America is having with the Deep State trying desperately to hold on to power.  Let’s start with Joe Biden’s appearance last week on ABC’s “The View,” where he looked confused and incompetent.  Can all of Biden’s last-minute pardons of criminals and J6 members who destroyed evidence be enforced or are they null and void as President Trump has declared?  Klayman says,

“They are null and void and so is every other thing that was allegedly signed by him (Biden).  He couldn’t even remember what he signed. . . . This is more than a scandal.  It’s the worst scandal ever.  Let me tell you something, Biden has not been abused as an elderly person.  He abused the American people, and it’s much more than abuse.  Biden committed treason.”

What about suspending “habeas corpus” as President Trump is thinking about doing to more quickly deport millions of illegal aliens?

    Klayman says,

He can do that in dire times, times of war.  We are, in effect, in a war.  We had drug traffickers, human traffickers, sex traffickers and terrorists running across our border in mass, over 10 million in the Biden Administration alone and many before that.  So, yes, it’s a war-time situation, and he (President Trump) can suspend it. . . .Just get them the heck out of here.  They are here illegally.  They have no right to be here.  The President should just ignore these edicts by these San Francisco judges and other judges . . . and do what he needs to do, and they can’t do anything.

You know the judiciary has no ability to enforce any ruling.  It’s only the Executive Branch, President Trump’s branch that he sit’s over, can enforce the rule of law.

This President has been sued thus far . . . in places like San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Portland and other places where they know they are going to get a Leftist judge.  Federal judges are supposed to be assigned randomly.

It’s like Wheel of Fortune, but that really does not happen. . . . They actually steer these cases. . . . We need to prosecute these judges and set up the Department of Judicial and Legal Accountability and work with President Trump.

I hope he will appoint me to head that with others that will come on board because we need some strong leadership right now because he’s sinking.  He (Trump) has been enjoined 70% to 80% of the time in every Executive Order that he has issued.

This last one said Trump has no control over his departments anymore.  There was a temporary restraining order that says you can’t cut workforce; you can’t do anything.”

Why all the attacks on President Trump?  Klayman says

"They are attacking him because they hate him. . . . they are attacking him, and it’s all orchestrated.  Washington is one giant, excuse the French, circle jerk.  It’s a club.”

Larry Klayman is representing conservative reporter Laura Loomer against Bill Maher and HBO.

They are being sued by Loomer for falsely claiming she slept with President Trump.  Klayman just deposed Maher and wants to release the video deposition.   Maher’s lawyers have so far blocked that.  Klayman says, “They are fighting tooth and nail to keep the video of Bill Maher secret so it can never be seen..."

"Look at the hypocrisy.  Laura Loomer gets defamed by Bill Maher, and the court has already denied a motion to dismiss . . . She gets smeared all over the world, defamed that she had sex with the President behind the back of Melania. . . . Loomer’s reputation gets harmed, and this harms her financially . . . You can smear a woman and . . . . If President Clinton can have his deposition released, who is Bill Maher that he should be protected?  Maher gave money to Kamela Harris as a political candidate.  That’s why Maher went after Loomer, because she was a way to get to Trump.”

In closing, Klayman has a warning:

“Pro Hamas demonstrators are busting up campuses threatening Jews and Christians, we see that.  We see Hakeem Jefferies the Minority Leader in the House, and Ilhan Omar, Rashita Tlaib, AOC and Bernie Sanders whipping up violence along with Jasmine Crockett, and they are calling for violence.”

Are we headed for a civil war?

Klaman says, “I believe we are.”

There is more in the 56-minute interview.

Join Greg Hunter of USAWatchdog.com as he goes One-on-One with renowned lawyer and government corruption fighter, Larry Klayman, founder of FreedomWatchUSA.org, as he rolls out a new organization to help Trump and the DOJ with his newly created Department of Judicial and Legal Accountability (DOLA) for 5.10.25.

Amid unprecedented global changes, the two nations’ relationship is driven by clear historical logic and shared civilizational heritage

On May 9, 2025, Moscow held a grand military parade on Red Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Approximately 27 foreign heads of state attended the Red Square parade, highlighting Russia’s influence on the international stage and signaling a break from Western diplomatic isolation. It also reinforced Russia’s ties with friendly nations. However, the parade was not merely a response to Western sanctions and containment. More importantly, it served as a powerful historical symbol and collective memory – a tribute to the immense sacrifices made for the victory in the global anti-fascist war, and a solemn reaffirmation of that great triumph and enduring honor.

At President Putin’s invitation, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia from May 7 to 10 and attended the Victory Day events. President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia signals a shared commitment by China and Russia to promote an accurate understanding of World War II history, defend the post-war international order centered on the United Nations, and uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. At the bilateral level, the two countries will continue to deepen their partnership through high-level exchanges, using the stability of their relationship to offset global uncertainty and advancing strategic coordination to safeguard international fairness and justice.

Eighty years ago, China and the Soviet Union fought side by side in the World Anti-Fascist War (World War II), forging a deep friendship through shared sacrifice. At this year’s military parade, President Putin praised the Chinese people’s significant contributions to the victory. In a signed article in Rossiyskaya Gazeta, President Xi Jinping also emphasized the decisive roles played by both countries.

Today, Western countries manipulate ideology through historical nihilism, double standards, and discursive reconstruction, deliberately downplaying, distorting, or even rewriting the historical contributions of China and the Soviet Union in World War II. By reshaping the narrative, they seek to undermine the foundations of the post-war international order and perpetuate their global dominance. Against this backdrop, the renewed call by the Chinese and Russian leaders to “jointly uphold a correct view of WWII history” serves as a powerful rebuke to historical revisionism and falsification. It reflects a shared strategic resolve to break the West’s monopoly on historical discourse and to defend international justice and collective memory. This is not only a shared responsibility to safeguard historical truth, but also a deep convergence between China and Russia in promoting the democratization of international relations, building a fair and equitable global order, and opposing unilateral hegemony.

On May 8, China and Russia signed a series of cooperation documents, including two major joint statements. The first focuses on further deepening the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era; the second is a joint statement on global strategic stability. In addition, the two heads of state witnessed the exchange of multiple cooperation agreements in areas such as education, investment, culture, and science and technology. These documents not only ensure the continuity and stability of bilateral ties at the strategic level, but also reflect the steady deepening of practical cooperation across key sectors.

The 'Joint Statement on Further Deepening the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era' not only reaffirms the two countries’ firm commitment to safeguarding the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, but also elevates the promotion of a correct view of World War II history to a strategic element of institutionalized bilateral cooperation. Key measures include jointly organizing commemorative events, conducting research and exhibitions on the crimes of Nazi Germany and Japanese militarism, locating the remains of fallen soldiers, restoring memorial sites, and deepening cooperation on WWII historical memory in education, archives, media, and youth exchanges.

The 'Joint Statement on Maintaining Global Strategic Stability' reaffirms the two countries’ consistent stance on preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, safeguarding the international arms control and disarmament system, and more. It also systematically establishes a comprehensive dialogue and cooperation framework that includes nuclear security, strategic deterrence balance, and governance of militarization of emerging technologies. Notably, this statement marks the first time that biological security, chemical weapons control, and military ethics in artificial intelligence have been included in the global strategic stability agenda, signaling a significant breakthrough for China and Russia in shaping a new international security paradigm for the future.

At the bilateral cooperation level, President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin witnessed the exchange of 28 cooperation documents between China and Russia, covering areas such as trade, biosafety, investment protection, digital economy, scientific facilities, quarantine, media, film, and youth exchanges. This broad agenda strengthens traditional sectors like energy and trade, while strategically positioning both countries in emerging fields like digital economy and scientific innovation, and deepening people-to-people ties through cultural, educational, and youth cooperation.

Amid unprecedented global changes, the trajectory of China-Russia relations continues to attract international attention. Some speculate about a formal alliance or potential rifts due to diverging interests. In response, China and Russia have demonstrated through deepening cooperation that they are building a new type of major-country relationship based on “highest mutual trust, coordination, and strategic value.” As President Xi has emphasized, their relationship is driven by clear historical logic, strong internal momentum, and shared civilizational heritage, not aimed at or influenced by any third party.

History is not only a repository of memories of the past, but also serves as the foundational basis for contemporary international relations, shaping value identities and acting as the spiritual pillar for a fair and just international order. The outcomes of World War II crystallized into the cornerstone of multilateralism, with the United Nations at its core, establishing the fundamental principles that govern modern international relations. These principles, derived from the collective sacrifices of the war, have provided a framework for diplomacy, conflict resolution, and global cooperation. As the world faces new challenges, the importance of these historical lessons becomes increasingly evident – reminding us that the stability of the global order rests on our ability to respect shared values, adhere to international norms, and safeguard the multilateral system. In this context, the victory in WWII is not just a historical event, but an enduring legacy that continues to shape global governance and the international system.

As the renowned Russian historian Vasily Klyuchevsky once said, “Those who refuse to learn from history will ultimately pay a heavy price for their ignorance and arrogance.” China also has a saying: “Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.” The significance of history lies in guiding us forward. Upholding the achievements of WWII and safeguarding the international system centered on the United Nations is a shared responsibility and mission for both China and Russia.

Tehran won’t dismantle its entire atomic infrastructure to reach a new deal, President Masoud Pezeshkian has said

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected a key US demand to dismantle his country’s nuclear infrastructure, during the latest talks in Oman. He insisted that Iran’s nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes only.

Addressing a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Pezeshkian said Tehran is “serious” in its renewed engagement with Washington. “We are negotiating [seriously] because we desire peace.”

However, he dismissed the US demand regarding nuclear infrastructure, calling it “unacceptable,” while stressing that Iran “will continue to pursue these peaceful activities in a powerful manner.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reported progress in the negotiations with the US in Muscat, Oman, noting that the sides have reached “a better understanding.”

“The fourth round of discussions was much more serious and candid than the previous three rounds,” Araghchi told reporters. “We’ve moved beyond generalities and started dealing with more detailed issues,” he said, calling the talks “constructive.”

Araghchi stressed that uranium enrichment and the removal of sanctions are central to Iran’s position. “From our point of view, enrichment is an issue that must definitely continue, and there is absolutely no room for compromise there,” he stated. He added, however, that the level and scale could be subject to certain limitations for “confidence-building purposes.”

The US and its allies have expressed concern about Iran’s enrichment activities, which they fear could provide the country with a head start to quickly produce weapons-grade uranium. Tehran has repeatedly dismissed the allegations that it is seeking to create a nuclear bomb.

Commenting on the talks, an unnamed senior US official told CNN that the discussions “were again both direct and indirect” and that Washington “was encouraged by today’s outcome and looks forward to their next meeting, which will happen in the near future.” He added that the sides are now expected to focus on “technical elements.”

The US unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal just three years later. US President Donald Trump argued that it did nothing to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The agreement focused on easing sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program.
