Two reminders. One, elections have consequences—good and bad. Two, it makes a difference when statutes are read as they are written, not as pro-abortionists want them to be interpreted.

To cut to the chase, as Nancy Flanders reminds us, “The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rescinded Biden-era guidance Tuesday that attempted to force emergency room (ER) workers to carry out induced abortions.”

This misuse of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) was one major pro-abortion response to the Dobbs decision which overturned Roe, and largely, but not exclusively, returned the abortion issue to the states. EMTALA was  originally created to safeguard access to emergency care, especially for people with low incomes. The Biden administration hijacked the law in its  whole-of-government pursuit of multiplying the number of dead babies by forcing hospitals nationwide to perform abortions.

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

They said that EMTALA preempted state pro-life laws that protected unborn children. Their “guidance” asserted that EMTALA legally obligates emergency room doctors to commit abortions, potentially turning all hospitals into quasi-abortion clinics.

Yesterday, the Trump administration rescinded those provisions. Under the title “CMS Statement on Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA),” it reads

The Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) are rescinding July 2022 guidance from CMS with the subject “Reinforcement of EMTALA Obligations specific to Patients who are Pregnant or are Experiencing Pregnancy Loss” and the accompanying Letter from the former Secretary of Health and Human Services, which do not reflect the policy of this Administration. CMS will continue to enforce EMTALA, which protects all individuals who present to a hospital emergency department seeking examination or treatment, including for identified emergency medical conditions that place the health of a pregnant woman or her unborn child in serious jeopardy. CMS will work to rectify any perceived legal confusion and instability created by the former administration’s actions.

    Backdrop

Idaho, to its great credit, fought back against the Biden administration’s July 2022 memorandum and letter from then-Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra that threatened to remove Medicare funding.  National Right to Life filed a friend of the court brief supporting Idaho’s pro-life law. It read in part

HHS’s attempt to discover an abortion mandate within EMTALA’s limited stabilization requirement for emergency medical conditions exceeds the bounds of regulatory authority granted by Congress. EMTALA contains no language expressly directing abortion services. Rather, HHS is reaching beyond EMTALA’s text and structure to insert its own policy preferences favoring abortion access. This overreach contravenes foundational limits on agency power.

HHS has issued guidance purporting to discover a federal abortion mandate in EMTALA’s requirement to provide stabilizing treatment. But this mandate exists only from HHS’s erroneous interpretation, not EMTALA’s text. The guidance represents a stark example of agency overreach— HHS conjuring new regulatory powers on a political whim.

Hat’s off to HHS and the CMS! Another pro-life victory!

The Massachusetts Public Health Committee is delaying their consideration of the state assisted suicide bill by 30 days. Chris Lisinski reported for Yahoo News on June 3, 2025 that:Legislators last week asked for a 30-day extension on a bill that would authorize physician-assisted suicide (H 2505), according to the House clerk’s office, keeping it idling in the Public Health Committee through a Tuesday event that drew both supporters and opponents of the long-debated policy.

Backers of the proposal, which has stalled out without a House or Senate vote for multiple terms in a row, argued they made “historic progress” last session by winning support from both the Public Health Committee and Health Care Financing Committee.Lisinski reported that Senator Jo Comerford told an opponent of the bill that:

“This is not an easy conversation to have, yet in this State House, we welcome democratic engagement, we welcome debate, we welcome dissent,” the Northampton Democrat said. “If we weren’t asking important questions about whether or not assisted suicide could be made safe — and I do believe it’s made safe in this bill, I do believe that — we wouldn’t be doing our jobs. This is too important a bill for us not to engage seriously with, so you are welcome here.”

“If there are ways to make this stronger, let’s do it together, friends. We are not railroading this bill through the State House,” she added.
As stated by one of the signs at the Public Health Committee, Assisted Suicide Cannot Be MAiD Safe.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition urges our supporters to continue contacting their elected representatives in Massachusetts to oppose the bill. We oppose killing people.

New findings from the Democrats’ costly and widely panned Speaking with American Men (SAM) project found that many young men view the party as “weak” while seeing the Republicans as “strong,” Politico reported on Wednesday.

An initial round of research from SAM—first reported by Politico—showed that many young men think that “neither party has our back,” as one black man from Georgia said in a focus group. SAM is a new $20 million initiative aiming to study how Democrats can better connect with young male voters they lost in the 2024 election cycle, according to The New York Times.

Some participants said they viewed the Democratic Party as cautious, but viewed the GOP as more confident, Politico reported.

The research “reaffirms what young men already think, that Democrats don’t want to invest in you,” Ilyse Hogue, a co-founder of the Speaking with American Men project, told Politico. Hogue is a well-known left-wing feminist activist who served as president of NARAL Pro-Choice America for eight years.

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

Hogue also told Politico that many young male voters believe the Democratic Party does not “care” about them.

“Democrats are seen as weak, whereas Republicans are seen as strong,” Hogue told the outlet. “Young men also spoke of being invisible to the Democrat coalition, and so you’ve got this weak problem and then you’ve got this ‘I don’t think they care about me’ problem, and I think the combination is kind of a killer.”

One focus group participant described Democrats as embracing “the fluid masculinity of being, like, empathetic and sensitive,” while “Republicans are more like the traditional masculinity of a provider, strong, and the machismo type,” Politico reported.

In the 2024 presidential election, male voters significantly shifted toward the Republican Party. An analysis from Democrat firm Catalist found that while 55% of women continued to support former Vice President Kamala Harris at about the same levels that they supported former President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, male voters shifted toward President Donald Trump in 2024, from 48% support for Biden in 2020 to 42% support for Harris in 2024.

Hogue told Politico that Democrats will not be able to win over voters unless they are “speaking the language that young men are speaking.”

“Democrats can’t win these folks over if they’re not speaking the language that young men are speaking,” Hogue told Politico.

Republicans have widely criticized SAM with House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain in a May X post likening the expensive initiative to the Democrats lighting “$20 million on fire to study their unpopularity.”

Republican Arizona Rep. Abe Hamadeh similarly blasted SAM on X in May.

“The Democrats declared war on masculinity and lost a generation of young men,” Hamadeh wrote. “Instead of doing any introspection as to what they did wrong, they’re going to invest $20 million studying ‘male Syntax’ to try to better communicate their radical message.”

The Democratic Party has been reportedly strategizing about the best way to reconnect with voters following the GOP winning control of the White House and both houses of Congress in November 2024.

Some Democrats have recently criticized their own party’s brand. In May, Rahm Emanuel, an ex-Obama White House chief of staff, criticized the Democratic Party brand as being “weak and woke.”

Still, Ross Morales Rocketto, a Democrat strategist who is not involved in the SAM project, told Politico that part of Democrats’ current messaging problem is that many young men think that “the Democratic Party doesn’t really like or respect them.”

The Democratic Party is missing that we’re not going to be able to message our way out of these deep problems men are facing, starting with the fact that they know the Democratic Party doesn’t really like or respect them,” Rocketto said. “It’s really easy for Republicans to play off the politics of grievance.”

SAM could not immediately be reached for comment.

Trump Breaks Silence On Brazen Ukraine Drone Op In Lengthy Putin Call

After two days of deafening silence from the White House on Ukraine's Sunday massive drone assault, dubbed 'Operation Spider's Web' - which took out many key Russian aircraft, including long-range strategic bombers and likely even Russia's extremely rare A-50 Radar Plane - President Trump has finally reacted publicly.

The president revealed he has held a phone call with President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, which significantly lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes. Trump warned that peace is not very close on the horizon and that the two leaders covered several pressing issues in their conversation.

"We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides." Trump went on to call it a good conversation, however "not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace."

That's when Trump clarified that "President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields."

The Russian leader's words are consistent with Dmitry Medvedev's ominous words issued the day prior, wherein the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, said "retribution is inevitable". Medvedev had warned of what's coming:

"Our Army is pushing forward and will continue to advance. Everything that needs to be blown up will be blown up, and those who must be eliminated will be."

Below: Ukraine on Wednesday released additional footage of strikes on four Russian air fields, including what could be two A-50 aircraft in Ivanovo...

Trump didn't reveal much further in the way of details, after the White House in a Tuesday briefing again affirmed that President Trump did not have foreknowledge of the Ukrainian cross-border operation. (But did US intelligence? very likely so.)

The fresh Truth Social statement was further taken up with Iran. "I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this, I believe that we were in agreement. President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion," he wrote.

The US President concluded, "It is my opinion that Iran has been slowwalking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!"

    The full statement:

This comes after the Ayatollah dismissed the latest US proposal which was submitted over the weekend. The central issue is the US demand that uranium enrichment be taken down to zero.

Whether Iran, Ukraine-Russia, or Gaza - conservative voices have been urging Trump to stand by his campaign promises to end conflicts in hotspots around the world. But the fact remains that the US is still funding and weaponizing one side of these various wars, especially in the case of Ukraine.

Trump's silence yesterday and today, after shooting his mouth off twice last week issuing threats to Putin, is fatally weakening his position. He is ceding foreign policy to Lindsey Graham. Soon we will be back to the feeble inertia of his first term. https://t.co/LLaBXsl3Et

    — George Szamuely (@GeorgeSzamuely) June 2, 2025

Of note in Trump's phone call with Putin is that nothing was stated from Trump in the way of a US demand that Putin not retaliate against Ukraine (or at least which was not disclosed in his Truth Social post).

The absence of a preemptive condemnation for any major retaliation is interesting also combined with the White House Press Secretary saying yesterday to reporters that the war is very far away, which suggests it's no longer a top administration priority.

Pentecost! It’s the grand finale of the Easter season, a spiritual explosion that marks the descent of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Catholic Church.

But it’s more than just a single Sunday; it’s a powerful outpouring of God’s grace, a renewed call to mission, and a season for us to live with intentionality and fiery zeal.

As Pope Francis so beautifully reminded us in his 2024 Pentecost homily,

“We are not alone, but empowered by the Holy Spirit.”

The feast, which lands on June 8 this year, isn’t just about showing up on Sunday. It’s about how to prepare our hearts and live out the Holy Spirit’s gifts with intention and passion.

Here are nine fruitful ways to prepare for Pentecost and live with the Holy Spirit’s zeal:

    1) Novena to the Holy Spirit

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

The traditional Pentecost Novena involves nine days of prayer leading up to the feast. It mimics the apostles’ time in the Upper Room with Mary, praying for the Holy Spirit.

Each day, focus on a specific gift or fruit of the Spirit, inviting Him to transform you. Remember:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” (Gal. 5:22-23)

    2) Make “Veni Creator Spiritus” Your Morning Go-To

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Start your day by inviting the Holy Spirit in! The ancient hymn, "Veni Creator Spiritus" (“Come, Creator Spirit”), is a powerful way to do that.

Integrate this beautiful prayer into your morning routine. Its lines, like “Kindle our sense from above, and make our hearts o’erflow with love,” are a perfect daily petition for Pentecostal grace.

    3) Pray the Chaplet of the Holy Spirit

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

The Chaplet of the Holy Spirit centers on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. It’s a fantastic way to ask for these specific graces to empower you and deepen your faith. You can also pray the Litany to the Holy Spirit for a powerful invocation of the Holy Spirit’s gifts.

    4) Rock Some Red (Liturgically Speaking!)

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

The color red symbolizes the tongues of fire that descended upon the apostles and the Holy Spirit’s transformative power.

Wearing more red in your clothing choices, especially on Pentecost Sunday and throughout its octave, is a simple, visible way to connect with the feast and show your enthusiasm for the Spirit!

    5) Read the Acts of the Apostles

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Want to see the Holy Spirit in action? The Book of Acts is your go-to. Read the first two chapters of Acts before Pentecost to immerse yourself in the Upper Room narrative.

After Pentecost, keep reading! See how the apostles, empowered by the Spirit, boldly preached the Gospel and built the Church.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

    6) Practice Everyday Discipleship

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Pentecost isn’t just about what you receive; it’s about how you act. Reflect on how you can intentionally live out your Catholic faith in your daily interactions.

This could be a kind word, a moment of forgiveness, lending an ear, or simply radiating Christian joy. Let the Spirit take your ordinary actions and turn them into extraordinary acts of love.

    7) Explore Creative Ways to Celebrate

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Pentecost can be a truly joyful and vibrant feast!

This includes fun ideas like baking a “Holy Spirit” cake or hosting a spiritual discussion with friends. These creative expressions help bring the significance of the day alive in your home and heart.

    8) Learn from Saints with June Feast Days

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

The month of June, often encompassing Pentecost and its octave, is packed with saints whose lives were profoundly shaped by the Holy Spirit. Take inspiration from:

    • Saint Anthony of Padua (June 13): A powerful preacher, truly gifted by the Spirit.
    • Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (June 21): A model of purity and discernment.
    • Saints Peter and Paul (June 29): Pillars of the Church, transformed by the Spirit from fearful followers into bold apostles.

Their stories show us the endless ways the Holy Spirit empowers believers!

    9) Conclude with a Prayer to Mary, Mother of Pentecost

feast of pentecostGraphic: Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Mary was in the Upper Room, prayerfully awaiting the Holy Spirit with the Apostles. She is truly the Mother of Pentecost!

Turn to her to deepen your own reception of the Spirit, or use a powerful prayer directly to the Holy Spirit:

O Holy Spirit, Soul of my soul, I adore You. Enlighten, guide, strengthen, and console me. Tell me what I ought to do and command me to do it. I promise to submit to everything that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me. Let me only know Your Will. (This prayer is often attributed to Cardinal Mercier.)

    Or simply:

Mary, Mother of Pentecost,You who received the Holy Spirit in fullness,Pray for us, that we too may be filled with His gifts.Lead us, guide us, and intercede for us,That we may be docile to the Spirit’s promptingsAnd bear abundant fruit for the glory of God. Amen.

Pentecost is a re-ignition, not just a remembrance.

By consciously preparing and intentionally living out the presence of the Holy Spirit, we can experience a profound transformation, moving from passive believers to active disciples, truly empowered to live with zeal and bear witness to Christ in the world.

So go ahead, embrace this powerful season!

Let your heart be open, your prayers fervent, and your daily life a vibrant testimony to the Spirit alive within you. After all, the fire of God’s love isn’t just for the apostles – it’s for you, here and now, ready to inspire and uplift every moment of your Catholic journey.

Pie-Crust Patriotism: Michael Moore Rewrites The Pledge Of Allegiance

    Authored by Jonathan Turley,

Filmmaker Michael Moore has decided that it is time to rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance in the name of tolerance and unity while attacking “MAGA-heads” and President Trump. If that seems confusing, it is a model of clarity when compared to the new pledge.

Mary Poppins (who is perfect in everyway) would likely call this “pie-crust patriotism.”

Moore has previously sought to amend the Constitution by repealing the Second Amendment. He also suggested surrounding the Supreme Court to prevent the confirmation of another conservative justice (without explaining how such a blockade would stop a confirmation across the street).

He is now turning his hand to the Pledge of Allegiance.

Many Americans are understandably a tad attached to our pledge, starting with “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Rev. Francis Bellamy would not likely be won over by the Moore remake. (The phrase “under God” was incorporated later into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954). Here is the new version:

“I pledge allegiance to the people of the United States of America. And to the democracy for which we all stand: One person, one vote, one nation, part of one world, everyone! A seat at the table! Everyone! A slice of the pie! With liberty and justice, equality, and kindness and the pursuit of happiness for all.”

As an initial matter, I fail to see how the nation is embodied by a run-on sentence that has more exclamation marks than a pre-teen’s text to bffs.

The call for unity is particularly curious from a person who has labeled Republicans as racists and consistently engaged in rage rhetoric.

Among his prior unifying, “slice of the pie” declarations was that white people “are not good people” and are inherently dangerous.

The Moore pledge has all of the elements that would unify any gathering on Rodeo Drive.

It replaces nationalism with globalism and introduces a pastry-based patriotism.

To paraphrase Mary Poppins, “Oh, that’s a piecrust [pledge]! Easily made, easily broken!”

Ted Cruz has proposed a resolution to replace the leftist Pride Month with one that celebrates life. Cruz introduced a resolution to designate June as “Life Month” to mark the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in June 2022.

“Every human life is worthy of protection, and it is especially incumbent upon Americans and lawmakers to protect the most vulnerable among us. Designating June as Life Month is a recommitment to the American principle that every life has dignity. I call on my colleagues in the Senate to swiftly pass this resolution,” the Texas Republican senator said in a statement.

A companion resolution was introduced in the House by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.-04).

    Smith issued the following statement:

“For decades abortion advocates have gone to extraordinary lengths to ignore, trivialize, and cover up the battered baby victim, fostering a culture of denial, disrespect, and bias against the unborn. This resolution designating June as Life Month highlights our moral imperative to protect innocent children’s lives from extermination. It calls our nation to reject willful blindness to the realities of abortion—brutally dismembering helpless babies with sharp knife-like curettes or poisoning babies with pills that literally starve them to death and often result in their bodies being flushed down a toilet. This resolution affirms that the cruel injustice of abortion need not be forever: instead we must defend the unborn and show love and compassion to both mother and child through meaningful assistance and support.”

    Read the resolution text here.

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

This resolution is supported by ADF, Heritage Action, SBA Pro-life, National Right to Life, Human Coalition, Heartbeat International, Family Research Council, Students for Life, Americans United for Life, Family Policy Alliance, Concerned Women for America, Catholic Vote, March for Life, 40 Days for Life, National Pro-Life Alliance, NIFLA, Citizens for Life, Christian Broadcasting Network, Focus on the Family, Liberty Counsel Action, and Eagle Forum.

Kristen Waggoner, CEO, President, and General Counsel of Alliance Defending Freedom said, “Life is the first and most fundamental human right. Without it, no other right can exist. So it’s fitting to commemorate the historic Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. For nearly half a century, America lived under the shadow of Roe v. Wade, which prevented efforts to protect the unborn and ensure women have the support they need. That shameful era ended on June 24, 2022, when the Court rightly found: ‘The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion.’ America must now take the next step forward. After more than 60 million lives lost to abortion and countless women harmed by the proliferation of dangerous abortion drugs, we must urgently work to restore a deeply rooted reverence for human life and expand access to life-affirming healthcare for women. I’m grateful for congressional leaders who are working toward that goal, and I commend Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Chris Smith for their longtime leadership in defending the sanctity of all human life.”

Janae Stracke, Vice President of Heritage Action said, “Heritage Action commends Senator Ted Cruz for his bold and historic proposition to designate June as “Life Month.” While life is a gift we each get to celebrated daily, designating June as “Life Month” is more than appropriate to honor the thousands of lives saved by the historic Supreme Court Dobbs case decision to reverse decades of legalized abortion under Roe. Overturning Roe v. Wade emphasized that abortion was never a federal right, affirmed that every innocent human being has a right to life, and allowed many pro-life state laws to immediately take effect.

Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, VP of Government Affairs at SBA Pro-Life America said, “The landmark Dobbs victory rightly restored power to protect unborn children in the law to the people and their elected representatives. Thank you, Sen. Cruz and Rep. Smith, for your resolution that celebrates this pivotal moment and underscores the need to protect every life and support women, children and families across our nation — not only for the June anniversary of Dobbs but year-round.”

Carol Tobias, President of National Right to Life said, “The U.S. Supreme Court rightfully overturned the horrendous Roe v. Wade decision on June 22. In memory of all the children lost to abortion, it is fitting that June be recognized as Life Month. We are grateful to Sen. Cruz for spearheading this effort.”

The resolution is cosponsored by Sens. John Cornyn (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), John Kennedy (R-La.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.),  Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Bill Cassidy (R-La), John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Jim Justice (R-W.Va.), and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.).

Ayatollah Rejects US Nuclear Proposal, Vows Iran To Keep Enriching Uranium

Iran has finally reacted to the US proposal for a fresh nuclear deal which was submitted Saturday via Omani mediators, and as expected it has dismissed Washington demands to take uranium enrichment down to zero.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made clear in fresh statements Wednesday that abandoning uranium enrichment was "100%" against the Islamic Republic's interests. This comes on the heels of a Truth Social post issued by President Trump which said in all caps: WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY ENRICHMENT OF URANIUM.

Khamenei as the Ayatollah, or top Shia religious cleric, has final say over all matters of state policy, but notably he didn't call for halting the talks altogether, after it's gone through five rounds, including at Rome.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Wednesday televised speech, via EPA

He said the US proposal "contradicts our nation's belief in self-reliance and the principle of 'We Can'". This is consistent with Iranian officials' prior position defending enrichment as a matter of national sovereignty that cannot fully be abandoned.

The question that remains is whether the US would allow for limited, lor low-levels of enrichment, instead of the 'down to zero' position which is being hotly debated about. "Uranium enrichment is the key to our nuclear program and the enemies have focused on the enrichment," Khamenei said during a televised speech.

He addressed the nation on the anniversary of the death of the Islamic Republic's founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. He made it very clear where Tehran stands on the proposal currently offered by the Trump White House:

"The proposal that the Americans have presented is 100% against our interests ... The rude and arrogant leaders of America repeatedly demand that we should not have a nuclear programme. Who are you to decide whether Iran should have enrichment?," he added.

There has been somewhat contradictory messaging coming out of Washington, with the Wall Street Journal having reported Sunday that the White House issued a directive last week telling federal agencies to halt the imposition of any new sanctions on Iran. Does this mark a step back from 'maximum pressure' in order to give talks a better chance?

"The new policy went out to top officials at the National Security Council and Treasury Department, and then to the State Department," WSJ said.

"Relevant officials working on the Middle East were looped in, but the directive had to spread much further. Iran sanctions intersect with U.S. policy toward China, where buyers take in more than 90% of Iran’s oil exports, as well as Japan, Europe, India and Southeast Asia."

Khamenei REJECTS US demands to stop uranium enrichment

Over the weekend White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt warned in a statement. "Special Envoy Witkoff has sent a detailed and acceptable proposal to the Iranian regime, and it's in their best interest to accept it."

However, Iran responded by demanding transparent and firm guarantees regarding the "real end of the sanctions" which would also feature details on "how and through what mechanism" they would be dismantled.

POTUS better wake up. Quick. The Deep State is in the midst of f#cking him yet again.

We are referring, of course, to Sunday’s utterly reckless attack on Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrent, allegedly by the Ukrainian military. Yes, the one that’s so feeble and incompetent that thus far it has lost one-fifth of its territory—despite upwards 150,000 dead soldiers according to Col. Douglas Macgregor and more than $200 billion of US and European military and economic aid.

That is to say, the Sunday drone attack according to Zelensky himself was nearly 20 months in the making. So it was surely hatched, kitted, trained and pre-positioned with heavy duty support from US covert operations and then actually triggered, launched and guided by US intelligence assets.

Stated inversely, it appears that forces which were most surely not the bedraggled Ukrainian military operating in rogue fashion attacked the heart of Russia’s nuclear deterrent. And yet and yet: It is likely that the Donald was also not honestly informed ahead of time!

After all, when Trump had his “Putin’s gone crazy” outburst a few days ago he didn’t even know—by his own public admission—that a swarm of Ukrainian drones had attacked Putin’s helicopter while the latter was being transported inside it. And again, given the in-depth layers of protection around Putin, there is not a snowball’s chance in the hot place that the Ukrainian military pulled off this near-miss on Russia’s demonized dictator without heavy duty intelligence support from the US.

Therefore, we are strongly inclined to believe that the Deep State is once again sabotaging the Donald while keeping him in the dark about crucial operations that bear heavily on the risk of escalation and war with Russia. To be sure, in connection with his outburst at Putin, Trump did warn that something “VERY BAD” could happen to Russia without him, but when you see all caps you know it’s just regular Trumpian bluster of the kind that is now being emitted from the man’s social media accounts on nearly a daily basis.

Besides, we believe Trump is attempting to function as an honest peace-maker on the Ukraine front because he suffers badly from NPPE (Nobel Peace Prize Envy). In turn, the latter is due to Obama’s surely undeserved snaring of the award within months of taking office. Accordingly, the Donald may well be playing an amateur “art of the deal” game with Putin on Ukraine, but we don’t think for a moment that he would have been knowingly reckless enough to put his prize in jeopardy by authorizing attacks on four or five of Russia’s strategic bomber airfields.

And we do mean “knowing” in the sense of comprehending as opposed to the wild ass bluster Trump frequently emits—even when he doesn’t vaguely appreciate the stakes, such as was evident in his 72-hour threat to put a 50% tariff on $600 billion of imports from the EU. So it needs be understood that what is reported to be the destruction or serious impairment of between 20 and 40 of Russia’s heavy intercontinental strategic bombers at at least four different Russian bases thousands of miles from both Ukraine’s borders and from each other constitutes a drastic escalation of the proxy war on Russia, veering toward the precipice of nuclear confrontation.

These hits on Russia’s strategic bombers by the nominally “Ukrainian” drone swarms—about 120 devices in total—account for upwards of 20-25% of the bomber leg of Russia’s triad nuclear deterrent. Yet these long range heavy bombers have had almost no role in Russia’s attacks on Ukraine because in the actual war theater it primarily uses intermediate range bombers to launch cruise missile assaults, and, if need be, could use ground based launching pads, as well.

So the Sunday drone attack had no resemblance whatsoever to a militarily-relevant knock-out blow. Instead, it amounted to an order of magnitude escalation toward nuclear confrontation designed to prolong and intensify Washington’s proxy war on Russia and throw immense new roadblocks in the path of a negotiated peace agreement.

Most especially, these reckless attacks were irrelevant to Ukraine’s rapidly deteriorating position on the battle front at the line of contact in eastern Ukraine. In fact, just during the last week of May the Russian forces captured another 18 settlements and villages and over 200 square kilometers of territory, meaning that the Ukrainian army is no longer capable to hold its defense lines and that the end is near.

At the same time, this drone attack hugely implicated the core strategic nuclear equation between the world’s two nuclear superpowers. To wit, the attack broke the rules of the strategic deterrence game and what remains of the 2010 New Start arms control agreements that nominally remains in effect through February 2026.

Although New Start was suspended by Russia in response to the US sanctions and NATO seizure of $300 billion of Russian assets in the global banking system, the limits and enforcement protocols have been largely observed by both sides. This included retaining the limit of 700 deployed strategic nuclear delivery vehicles.

Moreover, New Start’s inspection regime had provided for substantial transparency as to the locations and operational particulars of each land, sea and air-based delivery vehicle that had been declared under the 700 deployed vehicle limit. So to now use this New Start based compliance information to unilaterally attack and destroy previously declared weapons systems was a blatant breach of the entire arms control confidence building regime that had evolved over the decades since the 1970s and Soviet times.

In Russia’s case, it had chosen to list and have inspected 300-400 land-based ICBMs, 200-300 sea-based ballistic missiles and 50-60 heavy bombers. Among the latter was 40-50 Tu-95MS bombers and @15 Tu-160 bombers of the type that were destroyed in Sunday’s attack and about which the US has abundant detailed knowledge. That’s because the inspection and enforcement protocols with respect to these disclosed delivery vehicles included biannual data exchanges, notifications of changes in status (e.g., silo activation/deactivation), and up to 18 annual inspections.

In Russia’s case it generally kept its heavy bombers—which were subject to this comprehensive inspection regime—visible on open airfields per the illustrative photo shown below. There was nothing to hide, anyway.

So to repeat: the wanton attack on the known locations and regularly inspected strategic bombers in Russia’s nuclear deterrent like those depicted here was a radical breach of the whole arms control regime itself.

Equally importantly, it is damn obvious that Washington was in full cahoots with the Ukrainian military. The 120 or so drones used to attack the Russian bombers in the vastly scattered locations shown in the map above were surreptitiously smuggled into Russia in the covered containers shown in this photo. They were then secretly transported to near the Russian airfield locations and prepped for the eventual simultaneous launches.

Again, the odds that no one in the US military or the upper rungs of the Deep State in Washington was involved in this extensive and daring operation are somewhere between slim, none and hideously impossible.

At length, of course, after being pre-positioned near the target airfields, the crates shown above were opened, revealing that attack drones inside. We long ago gave up wearing our tinfoil hats, but are damn sure that the simultaneous launch of 120 of these little buggers at the same moment across thousands of miles of Russian territory was indeed the result of an intricate Washington-driven plot and conspiracy.

No Ukrainian cowboys could have pulled this off on their own steam.

At the very same moment, therefore, heavy Russian bombers spread across the Eurasian continent met the fate depicted below. And while this feat has the Washington and NATO warhawks and neocons gloating over the alleged brilliance of the scheme, that’s not even the half of it.

The real purpose of the attack was to destroy any vestige of trust that remains between the Donald and Putin, and leave the latter with no choice except to retaliate in kind. But further escalation into the zone of MAD (mutually assured destruction) that has kept the nuclear era peace for 60 years is surely the most dangerous thing that has happened since October 1962 when the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the world to the brink of annihilation.

So the hour is late indeed. The Warfare State and the MIC (military-industrial complex) are about to establish dominance over the Donald once again. This time with virtually existential implications.

So man up, POTUS, and cut off Zelensky and his Deep State puppeteers at the knees. That is, shut off the spigot of all aid, all weapons delivery, all intelligence and all other operational support, demand a cease fire and invite both Zelensky and Putin to Camp David.

Then, keep them there until they agree to dismantle the handiwork of Lenin, Stalin and Khrushchev. After all, the latter were the actual bloody authors of today’s dubious borders and a Ukrainian state that had never existed before in all of history prior to 1922.

It shouldn’t take long to partition the map and allow Crimea and the four provinces of the Donbas and south to go their separate ways back to Mother Russia. And the only “guarantees” that would be needed would be a Russian pledge to not allow the partitioned provinces to attack the rump of Ukraine, and for the US to guarantee that the shrunken state of Ukraine will not join NATO or attack the lost provinces.

As it happens, that’s all that Putin has ever wanted. And for the US it would mean not only closing another hideously stupid chapter in the Forever Wars, but also the chance start down a new path toward global peace and disarmament that might actually offer the Donald a real chance to get his Nobel Prize.

Needless to say, a 11th hour Camp David summit would also give the Donald a chance to reclaim his own presidency, which was clearly usurped when the Senate’s two leading Ukraine warmongers—Graham and Blumenthal—showed up in Kiev last week on the eve of this insane escalation.

And we do mean insane. The Ukraine warhawks led by the despicable Lindsay Graham, in fact, are now so far off the deep-end that they have introduced in the Senate new out-of-this-world sanctions on Russia which would impose a 500% tariff on countries that buy Russian energy, uranium, and other raw materials – measures aimed chiefly at India and China. Can you say, “WWW III here we come!”

Indeed, putting the three stooges of Ukraine’s latest disaster back in the dunce’s corner where they belong would be progress in itself. Self-evidently, Graham and Blumenthal knew what was coming but not the Donald, at least according to a leak to Tanya Noury of NewsNation by a high administration official: Like in the case of the attack on Putin’s helicopter, Trump was not informed of the drone caper, either.

Well, now the Donald surely knows they are coming for him again. So he better get busy taking names, kicking ass and cleaning house or his second Administration will be done before its gets started. And that’s to say nothing of the rest of us, too.

After facing pressure from a pro-life Republican senator, the Trump administration official responsible for overseeing the nation’s drug approval and regulation policies has promised to launch a full-scale investigation into the abortion pill, mifepristone — an announcement met with joy by the nation’s right-to-life movement.

“FDA is committed to safeguarding public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of the products it regulates,” wrote Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Marty Makary in a June 2 letter to Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), the senator revealed on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X. “As the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, I am committed to conducting a review of mifepristone and working with the professional career scientists at the Agency who review this data.”

Pro-life advocates have long asked health officials to review the safety of mifepristone, since successive Democratic administrations have loosened restrictions about its disbursement and stopped counting adverse effects, asking doctors only to report deaths directly attributable to the chemical.

“Praise God that the FDA has once again confirmed that they are reviewing the safety data on mifepristone. The impact of this drug on all women who take it has never been fully investigated by the FDA,” Mary Szoch, director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council, told The Washington Stand. “The latest data show that nearly 11% of women have a serious event within 45 days of taking the drug, including ER visits, infection, hemorrhage, incomplete abortion, and sepsis.”

The promise represents a turnabout for Makary, who announced at the April 24 Semafor World Economy Summit that he had “no plans to take action” to curtail mifepristone, the first pill of the two-drug cocktail that induces a chemical abortion. “This is exceptionally disappointing to say the least,” wrote Hawley at the time. “Not a good beginning at the FDA.” Makary’s latest pledge came in response to an April 28 letter by Hawley, calling on the Trump administration to reinstate abortion pill protocols to protect women’s health and safety which had been repealed by the Biden-Harris administration.

Polls show Americans favor health and safety measures to regulate the abortion pill. A full 92% of registered voters in Gen Y and Gen Z support laws requiring an ultrasound screening before dispensing the abortion pill, to save lives from ectopic pregnancy, according to a poll taken earlier this year by the Demetree Institute for Pro-life Advancement. The poll also found:

    • 92% support requiring blood tests for RH factor, to preserve the mother’s future fertility.
    • 90% support conducting tests to determine the environmental impact the abortion pill has on the nation’s drinking water supply.
    • Two-thirds (66%) of young voters support dispensing the two-drug, abortion pill cocktail only in person to assure that abusers, irresponsible boyfriends, or human traffickers do not obtain the drug to kill a mother’s child without her knowledge.

Chemical abortion accounted for 63% of all abortions in states where the practice is legal in 2023 — up from 53% in 2020 — according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.

The commitment follows Hawley’s asking Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to do a “top-to-bottom review” of mifepristone. “At the very least, the label should be changed,” replied Kennedy. “I’ve asked Marty Makary at the FDA to do a complete review and report back.”

Kennedy’s commitment echoes his statements from the beginning of the administration. “We need to understand the safety of every drug, mifepristone and every other drug,” said RFK Jr. during his confirmation hearings in January. “It’s against everything we believe in in this country, that patients or doctors should not be reporting adverse events.” President Trump has “made it clear to me that he wants me to look at the safety issues and I’ll ask NIH [National Institutes of Health] and FDA to do that.”

Pro-life advocates sued to overturn the 2000 approval of the drugs in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine. The abortion pill’s FDA “approval happened as the result of the Clinton administration’s pro-abortion agenda and the Clintons’ general disregard for women,” said Szoch. “Americans deserve better.” The Supreme Court unanimously rejected their petition on the grounds that the plaintiffs did not have standing but, in a return to the narrow procedural decisions of the Roberts court, Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s opinion did not rule on the underlying merits of the case. “FDA needs to release the names of all experts who reviewed the abortion pill so we can see what their bias was,” said Carole Novielli of Live Action.

“I look forward to Dr. Makary’s report on the safety of the drug which, if done truthfully and with scientific accuracy, should result in mifepristone’s removal from the market,” concluded Szoch.

CBO Finds Big Beautiful Bill Raises US Deficit By $2.4 Trillion, Saddles Next President With Fiscal Drag

Update (1238ET): White House Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought has hit back over the Congressional Budget Office's scoring of the 'Big Beautiful Bill' - writing on X:

OMB just reviewed the new CBO score of the One Big Beautiful bill. It confirms what we knew about the bill at House passage. The bill REDUCES deficits by $1.4 trillion over ten years when you adjust for CBO's one big gimmick--not using a realistic current policy baseline. It includes $1.7 trillion in mandatory savings, the most in history. If you care about deficits and debt, this bill dramatically improves the fiscal picture.

    *  *  *

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is out with its official scoring of the Big Beautiful Bill in its current form - and it's ugly (keep in mind that the White House just called out the CBO a 'partisan and political' institution stacked with Democrats).

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., and President Donald Trump arrive for a House Republican conference meeting, on May 20, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.
    Julia Demaree Nikhinson—AP

For starters, the bill would boost total projected deficits from $1.7 trillion to $2.3 trillion over 10 years, and would nearly double the primary (non-interest) deficit - largely attributed to a $3.8 trillion drop in tax revenue.

CBO out with its score of the Big, Beautiful, Budget-Buster: sees it raising US deficit by $2.4 trillion over 10 years, almost identical to what CRFB said ($2.3 trillion). This is mostly due to $3.7TN in lower tax revenues, offset by $1.25TN in lower spending pic.twitter.com/4OoxaBJjEH

    — zerohedge (@zerohedge) June 4, 2025

And as a reminder, Goldman points out that the Big Beautiful Bill has tax cuts front-loaded, spending cuts back-loaded (after 2029), so the next president is stuck with the fiscal drag.

According to Bloomberg, the CBO report indicates that 10.9 million people could be left without health insurance in 2034, including 1.4 million without verified citizenship, nationality or satisfactory immigration status who would lose coverage from state-only funded programs.

The CBO's estimate comes one day after billionaire Elon Musk slammed the bill as a "disgusting abominationthat makes no effort to codify any federal savings found by DOGE, and continues America's addition to spending. Musk's pushback was met with key support by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who's vowed to vote 'no' on the bill in its current form. Rep. Thomas Massie, one of two House Republicans to vote 'no' on the bill which barely passed the House, also supported Musk.

I agree with Elon. We have both seen the massive waste in government spending and we know another $5 trillion in debt is a huge mistake.

We can and must do better. https://t.co/LwPNJZv5zo

    — Rand Paul (@RandPaul) June 3, 2025

    Partisan CBO?

On Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed the CBO was "partisan and political," telling reporters: "There hasn’t been a single staffer in the entire Congressional Budget Office that has contributed to a Republican since the year 2000. But guess what? There have been many staffers within the Congressional Budget Office who have contributed to Democrat candidates and politicians every single cycle."

"So unfortunately, this is another institution in our country that has become partisan and political, and we are very confident in our own economic analysis of this bill," Leavitt continued.

Collins points out GOP complaints about the deficit, and Leavitt says the White House says they’re wrong — then brags no CBO staffer has donated to Republicans since 2000.

Because math and facts are overrated when you can just flex donation records. pic.twitter.com/RTAM9kICbm

    — The Vivlia (@TVivlia) June 4, 2025

Heritage Foundation senior fellow Stephen Moore noted in the Daily Caller that the "CBO Almost Always Gets it Wrong" - writing in the Daily Caller:

The CBO does not measure the economy-wide benefits of lower tax rates and thus it doesn’t adjust for higher employment and growth – which happens every time we cut tax rates.

We also know that the 2017 scoring of the Trump Tax Cut has already underestimated the revenues from the first six years of the law by a massive $1 trillion or more.

Last week, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that "The Democrat inspired and ‘controlled’ Congressional Budget Office (CBO) purposefully gave us an EXTREMELY LOW level of Growth, 1.8% over 10 years. How ridiculous and unpatriotic is that! They did the same thing to us in 2017, and we DOUBLED their numbers."

House Speaker Mike Johnson also slammed the CBO, telling NBC's "Meet the Press" that "they always underestimate the growth that will be brought about by tax cuts and reduction in regulations."

Johnson has obviously been preparing for the CBO report - posting this clip of himself on Fox News last week, and slamming the CBO for its 'historically low growth rate of 1.8%."

The CBO is notorious for getting things WRONG. So, what does it get wrong about the One Big Beautiful Bill? A lot.

It assumes a historically low growth rate of just 1.8%.

But POTUS’s bill will be jet fuel for America’s economy. He delivered the best economy in the world… pic.twitter.com/fl3e2AC0H8

Marc Andreessen Predicts 'Biggest Industry In The History Of The Planet'

Billionaire venture capitalist Marc Andreessen predicts that humanoid robotics will become the most lucrative market in history, surpassing the internet’s economic impact. In an interview with Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale at a forum hosted by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute, Andreessen urged the United States to lead the development of robot factories, positioning the nation to drive what he called the next Industrial Revolution.

You’ve likely seen Elon Musk’s Tesla Optimus robot,” Andreessen told the audience, referencing the humanoid robot being developed at Musk’s electric vehicle company. “These humanoid robots—this general-purpose robotics trend—will take off in the next decade, and it will happen at an enormous scale.”

.@pmarca to @JTLonsdale: 'Hundreds of Billions' of Robots Coming, U.S. Can Lead Next Industrial Revolution by Building Them

    — Josh Caplan (@joshdcaplan) June 1, 2025

Andreessen, co-founder of the tech investment firm Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z), envisioned a future with “billions, perhaps tens of billions” of robots performing tasks from industrial production to healthcare. “I think there’s a plausible argument, which Elon also believes, that robotics is going to be the biggest industry in the history of the planet,” he said. ARK Investment Management LLC’s Big Ideas 2025 report supports this vision, forecasting a transformative robotics industry that boosts productivity across sectors. It highlights specialized robots, such as household appliances, slashing time spent on daily tasks. The report projects generalizable robotics could generate over $26 trillion in global revenue, split evenly between $13 trillion in household robotics and $13 trillion in manufacturing robotics.

The global Smart Robots Market is expected to grow from a valuation of USD 33.83 billion in 2024 to $135.83 billion by 2034, reflecting a robust CAGR of 26.5%, according to a new report by The Research Insights. Fueled by the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced sensor technologies, smart robots are expanding into diverse applications. Global demand for enhanced productivity and safety across organizations, coupled with the synergy of cognitive systems and sensor technology, is driving rapid adoption and propelling the market’s worldwide growth.

However, competition is intensifying. China’s “Made in China 2025” initiative aims to deploy millions of robots, while Japan and South Korea advance their own automation ecosystems.

We don’t need to bring back old manufacturing jobs,” Andreessen said, dismissing labor-intensive assembly lines. Instead, he championed what Musk calls “alien dreadnought factories”—highly automated, state-of-the-art facilities producing robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles at unprecedented scale.

Subscribe to CAPITAL, the daily newsletter that cuts through the chaos of Tech, Markets, and Freedom to give you the truth.

Andreessen described a future of transformative economic growth, with thousands of new industrial categories emerging nationwide. “Coastal tech investments will yield massive returns, but we’ll create tens or hundreds of millions of jobs in rural areas,” he said, emphasizing advanced manufacturing’s potential to revitalize America’s heartland.

This shift, he argued, would enable the U.S. to lead the “third or fourth Industrial Revolution,” setting global standards for robotics and automation while fostering widespread prosperity.

“We shouldn’t be screwing screws by hand on rubber mats for 10 hours,” the billionaire said. “We should be designing and building the future.” Andreessen warned that if the U.S. fails to rapidly scale robot factories, China could seize the lead. “We have to do this because if we don’t, China will, and we don’t want to live in that world,” he said.

Last month, Musk declared that the company’s Optimus humanoid robot, now capable of learning tasks from human instructions, will be “the biggest product of all time.” Musk argued Tesla’s unique combination of AI, manufacturing scale, and robotics expertise positions it as the only company poised to produce intelligent humanoid robots at scale. “This is a super big deal,” he added, predicting Optimus’s impact could outstrip the next biggest product by a factor of ten.

One of the two major administration agenda points for Joe Biden’s regime, during the four years he was in the White House, was abortion. The other was transgenderism.

On abortion, he promoted it everywhere he could, in the United States and around the world.

He tried to impose abortion requirements on unwilling targets of his political agenda, and one of those was the community of emergency room physicians.

Biden’s administration simply reinterpreted a federal law, which actually provides protections for the “unborn child,” to insist that emergency room physicians had to perform abortions, essentially on demand by a patient.

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

Now President Donald Trump has reversed that reinterpretation.

His administration announced it is revoking a “guidance” to hospitals that ordered them to do “emergency abortions” for women, on the condition that was “necessary” to stabilize their medical condition.

It was in 2022, shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court threw out the faulty Roe v. Wade precedent that incorrectly created a constitutional “right” to abortion that the Biden administration retaliated.

Its guidance said to preserve abortion access for cases in which women were experiencing medical emergencies and needed an immediate abortion, ER doctors must commit abortion.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, of SBA Pro-Life America, said the move was one of the ways Biden tried to push abortion into states where there are legal and constitutional limits.

“Democrats have created confusion on this fact to justify their extremely unpopular agenda for all-trimester abortion. In situations where every minute counts, their lies lead to delayed care and put women in needless, unacceptable danger,” she said.

Lawyers with the ADF also confirmed they had filed a voluntary dismissal of a lawsuit against the Biden actions.

The case, Catholic Medical Association v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, argued that the Biden orders under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act overstepped Biden’s statutory authority and violated members’ conscience rights.

“Doctors—especially in emergency rooms—are tasked with preserving life. The Trump administration has rolled back a harmful Biden-era mandate that compelled doctors to end unborn lives, in violation of their deeply held beliefs,” said ADF lawyer Matt Bowman.

“Emergency room physicians can and do treat life-threatening conditions such as ectopic pregnancies, and every state allows doctors to do whatever is necessary to preserve the life of a mother. Now, doctors will be able to perform their life-giving duties without fear of government officials forcing them to end life and violate their beliefs.”

It was Biden’s HHS secretary, Xavier Becerra, who claimed he could override state laws regarding abortion to demand ER doctors perform the procedures.

Rubio Condemns CCP's Tiananmen Square Massacre, Marking 36th Anniversary

Authored by Catherine Yang via The Epoch Times,

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) “brutal crackdown” of the June 4, 1989, student protests in Tiananmen Square, in a social media post ahead of the anniversary.

“We remember the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal crackdown 36 years ago in Tiananmen Square and commemorate the courage of the innocent people killed and imprisoned that day. Freedom, democracy, and self-rule are human principles the CCP cannot erase,” he wrote on X.

Rubio also issued a State Department statement commemorating the students, with a rebuke to the CCP for its censorship and human rights abuses.

It noted that the pro-democracy demonstrations had begun in the spring of 1989 and “inspired a national movement.”

“Hundreds of thousands of ordinary people in the capital and throughout China took to the streets for weeks to exercise their freedoms of expression and peaceful assembly by advocating for democracy, human rights, and an end to rampant corruption,” the statement reads.

“The CCP responded with a brutal crackdown, sending the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to open fire in an attempt to extinguish the pro-democracy sentiments of unarmed civilians gathered on Beijing’s streets and in Tiananmen Square.”

The CCP met protesters with tanks and opened fire, and protester casualties numbered in the thousands, but Chinese authorities, in one of its best-known instances of censorship, told the Chinese people that the students had been the ones to attack the soldiers.

“The CCP actively tries to censor the facts, but the world will never forget,” Rubio stated.

Rubio commemorated the bravery of the demonstrators who were killed, “as well as those who continue to suffer persecution as they seek accountability and justice for the events of June 4, 1989.”

“Their courage in the face of certain danger reminds us that the principles of freedom, democracy, and self-rule are not just American principles. They are human principles the CCP cannot erase,” Rubio said.

Then-President George H.W. Bush condemned the CCP’s actions, and the State Department has continued to do so annually.

Human rights activists around the world commemorate the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, but in China, the CCP surveils and limits the movement of known human rights advocates ahead of major anniversaries like June 4 to prevent demonstrations.

The CCP has a long record of human rights abuses, but regularly warns other nations not to broach the topic. Chinese defectors revealed two decades ago that the CCP considers some groups to be “poisonous” to its power because they may present a different vision for China: the spiritual discipline Falun Gong, Tibetans, supporters of democracy in China, supporters of Taiwan’s independence, and most recently Uyghurs, an ethnic minority the CCP persecutes in Xinjiang. The CCP terms them the “five poisons.”

Jesse Leavenworth with The Stamford Advocate wrote an article that was published on June 3, 2025 promoting a memorial event for Stephen Mendelsohn, who recently died in an accident. The memorial event was on June 3rd.

Mendelsohn (63) was an amazing genius and focused disability activist who worked tirelessly to oppose assisted suicide as a member of Second Thoughts Connecticut and as a member of the EPC - USA board has died.

    Leavenworth wrote:

WEST HARTFORD — Stephen Mendelsohn of New Britain, who was hit and killed by a car in West Hartford Sunday, was remembered for his passionate activism and remarkable memory. He was 63.

Often quoted by media in the state, Mendelsohn, a fierce opponent of legalizing assisted suicide in Connecticut and the nation, was active with Second Thoughts Connecticut, an organization focused in particular on preventing suicide among people with disabilities, and the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, which lobbies against aid-in-dying legislation in the U.S. and Canada.

Coalition Executive Director Alex Schadenberg said Tuesday that Mendelsohn was a detail-oriented researcher who kept the organization up to date on laws and proposed bills throughout the U.S.

Bitcoin Becomes Safe Collateral: JPMorgan To Offer Loans Financed With Crypto Assets

Less than 8 years ago, when bitcoin was trading at $4,000 (compared to $104,000 today), Jamie Dimon demonstrated once again that he may be an ok big bank CEO (after all, without TARP JPMorgan would not exist today), but he is a terrible visionary when he warned his traders that anyone caught trading bitcoin"would be fired."

Fast forward to today, then, when not only will Jamie (who at almost 70 should really be thinking succession) not fire anyone at JPM for trading the best performing asset of the millennium, if not all time, but according to Bloomberg JPM will soon allow trading and wealth-management clients use some cryptocurrency-linked assets as collateral for loans, a major step by the biggest US bank to make inroads into an industry President Donald Trump has pledged to support.

According to the report, the firm will start providing financing against crypto exchange-traded funds, beginning with BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), in the coming weeks, people familiar with the matter said. The move marks the latest effort involving crypto among the biggest US banks after the Trump administration started removing regulatory barriers.

Just as importantly, JPMorgan - which until now refused to add crypto to the calculation of net worth - will also begin taking wealth-management clients’ crypto holdings into account when assessing their overall net worth and liquid assets, the people said, asking not to be named as the plans aren’t public. That means cryptocurrencies will be given similar treatment to stocks, cars or art when calculating how much a client can borrow against their assets.

Which, incidentally, is precisely what we predicted last November when we said that Bitcoin is about to become "safe collateral."

Bitcoin is about to become "safe collateral"

Cantor Fitzgerald is discussing receiving support from Tether for its planned multibillion-dollar program to lend dollars to clients who put up Bitcoin as collateral: BBG

    — zerohedge (@zerohedge) November 24, 2024

JPMorgan was one of the first major banks to start using blockchain technology for services like payments, and counts crypto exchanges like Coinbase among its clients. Which is ironic because its CEO remains a vocal crypto skeptic, and while he won't fire the firm's bitcoin traders, he said as recently as the firm’s investor day in May that he’s “not a fan” of Bitcoin, but that JPMorgan would allow clients to buy it.

“I don’t think we should smoke, but I defend your right to smoke,” Dimon said at the time. “I defend your right to buy Bitcoin, go at it.”

And starting in the next few days, Dimon will start issuing cigarette-backed loans... pardon bitcoin-backed.

The fact that IBIT - and soon all other crypto assets- will be eligible collateral, means that large holders no longer need to sell when they need access to liquidity, but can simply pledge their IBIT for immediate funding needs, breaking the loop of forced liquidations which until recently allowed coordinated short attacks to pressure the market at will. In fact, with IBIT pledgable, it will allow what many have called a perpetual cycle of buying bitcoin, using it to issue loans, then using the loan proceeds to buy even more bitcoin, a cycle which was responsible for much of the cryptocurrency surge in the 2020-2021 period.

Big banks have been making plans to give clients access to crypto this year, responding to client demand and a more favorable regulatory environment. Rival Morgan Stanley is working on a plan to add cryptocurrency trading to its E*Trade platform, Bloomberg reported last month.

It's not just bitcoin: the overhaul at JPM will also benefit holder of Ether as other crypto ETFs are expected to be included after the change is made.

Spot-Bitcoin ETFs were introduced in the US in January 2024 and have swelled to oversee a combined $128 billion, making them one of the most successful launches ever. Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency itself has skyrocketed since Trump won the presidential election last November, reaching an all-time high of $111,980 in May. The Bloomberg report helped push the price of both bitcoin and ether near session highs.

As for what happens next, we predicted that as well last December when we said that it is just a matter of time before the "creative" bank that came up with Credit Default Swaps issues a bitcoin SPV that offers institutional buyers a 5% coupon (before leverage).

We are probably weeks away from JPMorgan offering a bitcoin SPV to institutions which pays a 5% coupon (before leverage)

    — zerohedge (@zerohedge) December 5, 2024

We are confident that this will very soon happen.

Renowned New Testament scholar N.T. Wright has sparked controversy among Christians with recent comments defending killing babies in abortion in limited cases. His comments are drawing sharp criticism from pro-life advocates who argue his stance undermines the sanctity of life from conception.

In a June 1 episode of his podcast “Ask N.T. Wright Anything,” Wright responded to a question from a German college student asking why Christians should defend life from conception. While affirming that late-term abortions and infanticide are “not only wrong but repulsive,” Wright suggested that killing a baby in an abortion earlier in pregnancy might be “the best thing to do” in cases involving the mother’s health or if the baby is disabled.

He admitted uncertainty about when life begins despite decades of scientific proof that it begins at conception, stating, “I’m not a scientist,” and emphasized that abortion is a complex issue, particularly for men to address.

Wright’s comments have ignited a firestorm of backlash within pro-life circles. Critics argue that his position opens the door to moral compromise, contradicting the biblical principle that all human life is sacred from conception.

“N.T. Wright’s defense of abortion, even in ‘exceptional cases,’ is a betrayal of the Gospel’s clarity on the value of every human life,” said Stephen DeCesare, a Christian commentator, in a post on X. “Sin doesn’t come in half-measures.”

Others echoed this sentiment, expressing heartbreak over Wright’s stance. “He called late-term abortion murder but early abortions ‘termination.’ This distinction is meaningless to the unborn child,” wrote X user @Savedbygra62721

The Gospel Coalition Canada also published a response, stating, “While we can sympathize with Wright’s sensitivity to difficult cases, we cannot reach the same conclusions. Every life matters—no exceptions.”

Pro-life advocates argue that Wright’s nuanced position risks weakening the Christian witness on abortion. Scripture is clear: life begins at conception. To suggest otherwise, even in tough cases, undermines the church’s moral authority and the inherent dignity of the unborn.

    Fink-ing About A New Globalization

    By Michael Every of Rabobank

    Fink-ing about a new globalisation

In a daily markets update there are many times when all that matters are the economic data. There are also days when the bigger picture matters more. The dichotomy between yesterday’s weak US factory orders (-3.7%) and the surprise increase in JOLTS (7.4m) is worth a cursory glance, as is weaker-than-expected Aussie Q1 GDP at 0.2% q-o-q vs. 0.4% expected (so, “rate cuts!”), but none of them mean much vs. what we just saw at the global strategy level.

Iran said it could accept a proposed US nuclear deal whereby a regional consortium (it, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and maybe Turkey) would see civilian uranium enrichment under IAEA supervision if it’s done on its soil - otherwise it will reject it, opening the door to a US or Israeli strike. Is this geopolitical out-of-the-box thinking and a Middle East Pax Americana with low (dollar-denominated) energy prices, high economic growth, and low US military presence, or a Pandora’s box? Only time will tell, but this could prove a high order geopolitical pivot point; as

The Israeli government may be close to collapse over the issue of drafting its ultra-orthodox citizens --news on that could come Wednesday-- as thousands of ex-jihadis are being brought into a new Western-accepted Syrian army: what could go wrong there looking at history?

Ukraine hit Russia again, underwater-mining the foundations of the Kerch bridge leading to Crimea. So, no ceasefire or peace, and while Russia is making slow gains on the ground in Ukraine, the latter is hitting Russia harder, something that will happen more as more advanced weapons are shipped to it. That backdrop matters to a Europe now rolling up its sleeves on the military front. Separately, Ukraine stated its grain harvest could be down 10% this year: imagine if the war were to bring that figure down further, as Russia has tried to do before

In Europe, the Dutch government collapsed over migration issues just before the upcoming NATO summit it’s hosting: a new election looms there at some point a few months from now, until which we will get a caretaker administration.

In the UK, media underline that NATO will at that meeting force London to spend 3.5% of GDP on defense (and another 1.5% on related infrastructure) just after its Strategic Defence Review said it wouldn’t, leaving London looking silly, and having no idea how to pay for it: indeed, NATO is now seeking a fivefold boost in its ground-based air defence systems. It’s not just the UK that’s true for of course. Vast sums need to flow to armed forces globally.

In Asia, regular military high-spender South Korea’s left-leaning Lee Jae-Myung won the presidential election after his predecessor Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment for his declaration of martial law. The full geopolitical ramifications of that are still unclear, although Lee is certainly seen as more pro-China than Yoon.

Japan said it might join the expensive US Golden Dome anti-missile plan, which underlines which way it was always going to lean geopolitically, and shows how little optionality it has on trade – the more so given a media report underlining the accelerating fall in Japanese automakers’ market share in Thailand, a former lock-in for them for decades due to fortified layers of integrated Japan-only supply chains which has been up-ended by the entry of cheaper Chinese EVs not needing them. This underlines how technology shifts can overturn established trading patterns and economic power structures, especially for those who fall behind the curve. Still no US-Japan trade deal yet though.

President Trump signed 50% steel & aluminium tariffs but exempted the UK due to their US trade deal; and he is set to waive some legal requirements to boost US critical minerals/rare earth output, where China has a current monopoly it’s using to throttle industrial supply chains. That doesn’t show up on Bloomberg data yet, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a critical issue.

Treasury Secretary Bessent said Beijing has a choice on whether it’s a dependable trade partner, reiterating it must shift to a more consumption-led economy – and, presumably, to allow others to get the rare earths they need for industry.

On consumption, Elon Musk called Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill a “disgusting abomination”, as Bessent underlined in an interview that while he wants to get the fiscal deficit down, the aim is to do so via higher growth rather than a hard fiscal stop.

Meanwhile, the FBI arrested a Chinese national for allegedly smuggling a dangerous biological pathogen, fusarium graminearum, an “agroterrorism agent,” into the US to research at the University of Michigan, where she works, increasing tensions over Chinese student visas and current ‘we don’t do geopolitics’ US university research models. That’s an emerging global bifurcation with major implications. Yet while there are stories of US academics now considering moving abroad --who else has US money, labs, and academic freedoms?-- the loss of Chinese students to the US is more a geopolitical blow to Beijing (and the Ivy League) than it is an economic one to universities which reject 99% of equally-qualified applicants from other countries.

As backdrop to all this, a Wall Street Journal op-ed argued ‘The War of Revision is Coming’, where Taiwan may be the next Ukraine, and warns: “All democratic societies will ultimately have to reckon with this unwelcome global transition from a postwar to a prewar era in world history."

But potential rate cuts are more important though, right, Mr. Market? Yes, maybe… if they help pay for stepped-up military expenditures implied by the above. Yet how do we structure our political-economies to ensure they do that and not --for a random example that would obviously never be part of any sensible government’s game-plan in the current circumstances-- push up house prices instead? *If* you believe what the Wall Street Journal op-ed says, this is an existential issue for democratic societies: but you wouldn’t think so from how many are acting. However, some key voices are talking new talk.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink used a Financial Times op-ed to say “globalization is over” and we need a “new draft” without massive trade and financial imbalances causing inequality, and with local economies that help workers(!) The logical implications of such are staggering: no more massive trade surpluses and deficits, upending the global trading structure; no more free-wheeling global capital flows creating those trade surpluses and deficits and holdings of certain assets; more local consumption first, with what’s left exported, so less trade overall; and a reallocation of purchasing power from top income deciles to those at the bottom via more inclusive local capitalism(s) across all those taking part in the new system.

Of course, this BlackRock rhetoric could be the next ‘Build Back Better’, i.e., an empty incantation nobody actually expected to achieve anything but which sounded good to the disaffected. However, it would be hard to argue that things are currently static. Rather, they are moving fast and breaking things.

Indeed, what Fink just said sounds a lot like some past neo-mercantilists and some interpretations of what the White House is trying to achieve. (Which doesn’t mean they will succeed but is naturally why BlackRock just said it.)

You want to talk jolts? Look at that bigger picture, not the US (or other) data.

Oil Prices Tumble On Report That Saudis Want To 'Super-Size' OPEC Production Hikes

Update (1130ET): Having surged overnight and extended gains on a big crude draw (and trade-talk progress with the Europeans), oil prices are tanking now as Bloomberg reports that, according to people familiar with the matter, Saudi Arabia wants OPEC+ to continue with accelerated oil supply hikes in the coming months as it puts greater importance on regaining lost market share.

The kingdom, which holds an increasingly dominant position within OPEC+, wants the group to add at least 411,000 barrels a day in August and potentially September, the people said, asking not to be named because the information was private.

Riyadh is keen to unwind its cuts as quickly as possible to take advantage of peak demand during the northern hemisphere summer, one person said.

    ...

...the kingdom sees no reason to slow down — as Russia, Algeria and Oman suggested at the last OPEC+ meeting — because seasonal demand will peak in the coming months, the people said.

Before the group’s most recent meeting, there had been some discussion of an even larger increase, according to people familiar with the matter.

The reaction was instant, slamming WTI down 2%...

We would imagine Russia will not be pleased at this outburst (or the US shale producers or the Kazakhs), but Trump might be happy with what his old friends in The Kingdom are saying (and doing).

Crude prices are higher this morning on signs of progress in trade talks between the US and EU and the API report of a major drawdown in American crude inventories (despite product builds).

Geopolitical tensions continue to drive prices more aggressively as the possibility of a Putin-Zelensky meeting came and went and Iranian peace deal talks stumble.

The big question for traders is - will the official data confirm API's drawdown?

    API

    • Crude -3.28mm

    • Cushing +952k

    • Gasoline +4.73mm

    • Distillates +761k

    DOE

    • Crude -4.30mm

    • Cushing +576k

    • Gasoline +5.22mm

    • Distillates +4.23mm

The official data confirmed API's report with a large crude draw offset by big draws in products...

    Source: Bloomberg

Even including the 509k barrel addition to the SPR, total crude stocks fell by the most since December...

    Source: Bloomberg

The rig count continues to slide (now at its lowest since Dec 2021), and despite Trump's 'Drill, Baby, Drill' push, US crude production remains well of its highs...

    Source: Bloomberg

WTI extended gains after the official data confirmed API's...

    Source: Bloomberg

Oil rose at the start of the week after a decision by OPEC+ to increase production in July was in line with expectations, easing concerns over a bigger hike.

However, prices are still down about 11% this year on fears around a looming supply glut, while traders continue to monitor US trade tariffs as President Donald Trump said his Chinese counterpart is “extremely hard” to make a deal with.

Saudi Arabia led increases in OPEC oil production last month as the group began its series of accelerated supply additions, according to a Bloomberg survey.

Nevertheless, the hike fell short of the full amount the kingdom could have added under the agreements.

    Alex Schadenberg
    Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

    Florian Willet with Philip Nitschke
Florian Willet, who was the co-chair of the last-resort suicide organization, reportedly died by suicide last month in Cologne Germany “with the help of a specialised organisation”.

The suicide death of Willet is tragic, but I recognize that Willet was not terminally ill or physically suffering, but rather it was stated that: “Florian’s spirit was broken.” after serving 70 days in jail after being arrested in the "suicide pod" death of a 64-year-old unnamed American woman.

On September 24, 2024 I published an article stating that the Swiss police had made arrests related to the Sarco suicide pod. Willet was one of the participants who was arrested and held in jail in the Sarco suicide pod death, while Swiss police investigated.

The Sarco suicide pod kills a person by releasing nitrogen gas into the pod causing the person to die of asphyxiation. On September 29, 2024 I published an article explaining why the Sarco suicide pod method constitutes torture.

Miriam Kuepper and Elena Salvoni reported for the Daily Mail, on October 28, 2024 that strangulation marks were found on the 64-year-old American woman who died in the Sarco death pod.

The investigation related to the strangulation marks ended when the strangulation marks were attributed to the jerking of the victims muscles and her arms while she was dying of asphyxiation.

An article by Adam Sage that was published by the Times on June 3, 2025 stated that:

A euthanasia activist who was arrested for providing a suicide pod in which a woman took her own life in Switzerland last year has died after developing a psychotic disorder.

Florian Willet, 47, is thought to have taken his own life. He was a “broken” man after spending 70 days in custody in connection with the death of an American woman in a specially-designed capsule in a Swiss forest, according to The Last Resort, the right-to-die association he jointly chaired.Sage further explained that:
Swiss prosecutors initially suspected Willet of murder after discovering strangulation marks on the neck of the first user of the capsule — a 64-year-old American suffering from skull base osteomyelitis. He was the only person beside the pod when she died.

Although he was released from detention in December when prosecutors discounted the murder allegation, the investigation has continued into claims that he and other people close to The Last Resort incited the pod user to take their own life. The Last resort assisted suicide group claimed that Willet was a victim. Sage wrote:
The Last Resort sought to depict Willet as a victim of Swiss justice. A statement from the organisation said: “He knew that he did nothing illegal or wrong, but his belief in the rule of law in Switzerland was in tatters. In the final months of his life, Dr Florian Willet shouldered more than any man should. Florian has now paid the ultimate price — his life — for his compassion.”Willet's death is tragic but he was not a victim and certainly not a hero. His death underlines the goals of the assisted suicide lobby. He died with the assistance of a "specialised organization" even though he was not terminally ill and was experiencing a treatable condition. The goal of Philip Nitschke and the assisted suicide lobby, as stated by Wesley Smith is:
Death on demand, for any reason, at any time, by anyone — with the possible exception of children — and assisted by whomever for any reason. This is the ultimate destination of the euthanasia movement, whether by design or simple logical consequence. The Sarco suicide pod was invented by Philip Nitschke, who had lost his medical license in Australia. A 64-year-old American woman died in the Sarco pod in connection to The Last Resort Swiss assisted suicide group that was led by Florian Willett, a former spokesperson for the euthanasia group Dignitas and Fiona Stewart, the wife of Philip Nitschke.

Recently published research coupled with a reply to a Parliamentary Question raises very real concerns about the risk to women’s health related to state-supported abortion. The Pro Life Campaign has called for a meeting with the Minister for Health to discuss these and other developments regarding Ireland’s abortion law.

The research article published in the Irish Journal of Sociology describes a retrospective review of cases of in-patient medical abortion up to 12 weeks gestation in a single tertiary hospital in the south-west of Ireland, during the period from 1 Jan 2019 to 31 Dec 2022. 1

The complications recorded resulting from the abortions included women requiring blood transfusions, extended hospital stays, with some even being admitted to high-dependency units. 12% of the women who underwent abortions during this period presented to an emergency department on an unplanned basis, primarily due to concerns about infection or bleeding.

While the authors of the article described these complications as “infrequent” and in keeping with the international literature, their findings are worth highlighting in the context of very little public discussion of abortion complications in Ireland since Irish hospitals began providing medical abortions. 2

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

Separately, but also of significance, a reply from the HSE to a parliamentary question submitted by Deputy Carol Nolan TD (PQ 10966/25) states that during the period 2019-2024, there were 29 incidents where ‘moderate harm’ was reported for women undergoing abortions.

Commenting on all the latest information that’s come to light, Pro Life Campaign spokesperson, Eilís Mulroy said:

“These findings taken together are very troubling and should prompt a serious official response. The reply to the recent Parliamentary Question showing that for 29 women since 2019, the damage done to them by the abortion they had reached the level of ‘moderate harm’, which is one of the official categories listed for adverse incidents. The description given for ‘moderate harm’ includes an increased length of stay in hospital and the possibility of ‘causing permanent or long-term harm or loss of function’ for the woman. 3 The possibility of such an outcome is very serious for the women involved. It raises the question: why is there little or no public discussion on this and other deeply troubling effects of the new abortion law previously raised? If, as it appears, they are being overlooked because some people in power don’t want to face any of the inconvenient truths about the law they passed, this shows disgraceful disregard of women’s health. Some healthcare providers are less likely to discuss challenges of abortion provision if it could undermine continued availability of abortion – a reality of “self-censorship” that is explicitly stated in another recent article, published by researchers involved in the three-year review. 4

“Women being admitted to high dependency units in hospitals after abortion is not what the people of Ireland were promised at the time of the abortion referendum, when senior politicians were falsely calling abortion ‘healthcare’ even though it’s evidently a life-ending procedure. What was claimed back then is a discussion for another day but right now the Government has a duty to start listening to voices other than those from the most extreme side of the pro-abortion movement.

“In the interests of women’s health and the lives of unborn babies, those in positions of power need to start acknowledging what’s happening under the new law, including the massive increase in abortions and the adverse consequences of abortion on women that are not being faced. The Pro Life Campaign is requesting an urgent meeting with the Minister for Health to discuss the matter.”

The Illuminati (Communists) used Feminism to attack society at its weakest point - women.

Feminism is essentially a depopulation program. It convinces women to squander their most fertile years, when they are irresistible to men, in pursuing career instead of marriage and family.  It convinces young women their total value lies in sex appeal. As a result,
they act like strippers and prostitutes. Needless to say, this kills marriage and family.

Western women have been psychologically sterilized. They were taught the things they most crave - love, marriage and family are "oppressive!" They are now desperate as men turn their backs on them. YouTube is full of videos of women offering themselves to strangers. The female franchise has been destroyed.

Below--"Burkha Vs Bikini" - Since this article was written in 2002, it has been reposted on numerous Muslim, Christian and Hindu websites.
I revisit this reaffirmation of gender, marriage and family in the hopes of restoring some gender sanity.

"I am not advocating the burka but rather some of the values that it represents, specifically a woman's consecration to her future husband and family, and the modesty and dignity this entails."

"Young women in the West are naive to think sex appeal is the only thing that matters to men. Men seek intelligence, character, personality, purity, talent, dignity, modesty and refinement in a permanent mate. Act like a whore and you'll be treated like one."

    By Henry Makow PhD

On my wall, I have a picture of a Muslim woman shrouded in a burka.

Beside it is a picture of an American beauty contestant, wearing nothing but a bikini.

One woman is totally hidden from the public; the other is totally exposed. These two extremes say a great deal about the clash of so-called "civilizations."

The role of woman is at the heart of any culture. Apart from stealing Arab oil, the turmoil in the Middle East is about stripping Muslims of their religion and culture, exchanging the burka for a bikini.

I am not an expert on the condition of Muslim women and I love feminine beauty too much to advocate the burka here. But I am defending some of the values that the burka represents for me.

For me, the burka represents a woman's consecration to her husband and family. Only they see her. It affirms the privacy, exclusivity and importance of the domestic sphere.

The Muslim woman's focus is her home, the "nest" where her children are born and reared. She is the "home" maker, the taproot that sustains the spiritual life of the family, nurturing and training her children, providing refuge and support to her husband.

In contrast, the bikinied American beauty queen struts practically naked in front of millions on TV.  A feminist, she belongs to herself.  In practice, paradoxically, she is public property. She belongs to no one and everyone. She shops her body to the highest bidder. She is auctioning herself all of the time.

In America, the cultural measure of a woman's value is her sex appeal. (As this asset depreciates quickly, she is neurotically obsessed with appearance and plagued by weight problems.)

    Miley_Cyrus_Twerking-VMAs.png

As an adolescent, her role model is Miley Cyrus, a singer whose act approximates a strip tease. From Miley, she learns that she will be loved only if she gives sex. Thus, she learns to "hook up" furtively rather than to demand patient courtship, love and marriage.

As a result, dozens of males know her before her husband does. She loses her innocence, which is a large part of her charm. She becomes hardened and calculating. Unable to love, she is unfit to receive her husband's seed.

    FEMININITY

The feminine personality is founded on the emotional relationship between mother and baby. It is based on nurturing and self-sacrifice.

Masculinity is founded on the relationship between hunter and prey. It is based on aggression and reason.

Feminism deceives women to believe femininity has resulted in "oppression" and they should adopt male behavior instead.

The result: a confused and aggressive woman with a large chip on her shoulder, unfit to become a wife or mother.

This is the goal of the NWO social engineers: undermine sexual identity and destroy the family, create social and personal dysfunction, and reduce the population. In the "brave new world," women are not supposed to be mothers and progenitors of the race. They are meant to be autonomous sex objects.

Liberating women is often given as an excuse for the war in places like Afghanistan. Liberating them to what? To Miley Cyrus? To low-rise "see-my-thong" pants? To the mutual masturbation that passes for sexuality in America? If they really cared about women, maybe they'd end the war.

    PARENTHOOD

Parenthood is the pinnacle of human development. It is the stage when we finally graduate from self-indulgence and become God's surrogates: creating and nurturing new life. Our children represent our natural growth. They are an extension of ourselves.

The New World Order does not want us to reach this level of maturity. Pornography is a substitute for marriage. We are to remain single: stunted, sex-starved and self-obsessed.

They don't want us to have a permanent "private" life. We are meant to remain lonely and isolated, in a state of perpetual courtship, dependent on consumer products for our identity.

This is especially destructive for a woman. Her sexual attraction is a function of her fertility. As fertility declines, so does her sex appeal. If a woman devotes her prime years to become "independent," she is not likely to find a permanent mate.

Her long-term personal fulfilment and happiness lie in making marriage and family her first priority.

Feminism is another cruel New World Order hoax that has debauched American women and despoiled Western civilization. It has ruined millions of lives and represents a lethal threat to Islam.

I am not advocating the burka but rather some of the values that it represents, specifically a woman's consecration to her future husband and family, and the modesty and dignity this entails.

The burka and the bikini represent two extremes. The answer lies somewhere in the middle.

New First Comment from Amana, a burka-wearing woman

I read your article regarding the contrast between bikini and burka and in fact, I had read a long time back and loved it then. I really appreciate your emphasis on modesty family values and so on.

Let me tell you as a Muslim woman who transitioned from a fairly modern educated girl to now a hijabi niqaabi( face covering woman).

I had an English medium education from a well-reputed school in my country. I was an American at heart..I watched Hollywood movies listened to the American rock pop music n spoke fluent English.

For me, that was something to be proud of. I never valued much the best blessing in the world called Islam my religion. However after my father's death that changed. Something inside me broke and I started wondering about the purpose of my life. I ended up reading my holy book Quran under teachers n realized the treasure it had. This time I started changing from inside n its been 10 years now. I never covered my head in my own Muslim country but became a niqaabi in America. My husband and I joke about how I was an American at heart back in my own country and a thorough proud happy Muslimah in the US. I am married with 4 kids that I homeschool as I want to inculcate in my kids the real values my religion tells. I have seen read and heard enough about the sorry state of the country I once idealized

All that is gone now. God guided me and showed me what really is beyond all the deception. I am awake to everything around me. I thank Allah every day for taking me out of the darkness of ignorance and showing me light and what it truly means to be a Muslim woman.

And one last thing, taking a Burka is the most amazingly beautiful and liberating experience of my life. I swear I can challenge any woman on this planet to show me she has the same peace in her heart as I do. I cover myself, I look after the needs of my husband and kids and in return treated like a queen by my husband. And I don't want to give up this role for a million dollars.

I hate it when brainwashed zombies say Muslim women are forced to or this is a culture..its not a culture its a command of God Almighty. Too bad Christians don't follow the steps of Mary the mother of Jesus while Muslim women do. Paul abolished the law hence today christian women dont practice it. Swine is fine to eat and hijab is practised by the nuns only. The Christianity today is not in its original form anymore. it's Pauline Christianity where a lot of commands are in sheer contradiction to commands of God.

I ask everyone who has learned Islam only from fox CNN etc to do some unbiased study and ask the scholars of Islam. I swear if they are sincere they will embrace it with all their heart inshallah.

    Peace

    A Muslim woman

Official reports from the Arkansas Department of Health’s Vital Statistics show no abortions occurred in the state during 2024.

Arkansas law generally prohibits abortion, but it contains exceptions for situations in which the mother’s life is at risk.

The state publishes annual reports every June documenting the number of abortions performed during the previous year. The Health Department recently released three different reports showing the number of abortions performed last year, the number of women who experienced complications from abortion, and the number of abortions necessary to save the life of the mother. All three reports show 0 abortions during 2024.

REACH PRO-LIFE PEOPLE WORLDWIDE! Advertise with LifeNews to reach hundreds of thousands of pro-life readers every week. Contact us today.

In the past, Arkansas has averaged around 3,200 abortions per year. All in all, our team estimates Arkansas’ pro-life laws are protecting thousands of women and unborn children from abortion each year.

These reports are great news. Arkansas has successfully prohibited abortion except to save the life of the mother. Arkansas’ pro-life laws are protecting women, and they are saving unborn children.

Last year a flawed measure that would have repealed Arkansas’ pro-life laws and written abortion into the state constitution nearly made the ballot. If passed, the Arkansas Abortion Amendment would have allowed thousands of elective abortions in Arkansas every year.

The amendment did not contain any medical licensing or health and safety standards for abortion. It contained sweeping health exceptions that would permit abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy in many cases. The amendment also would have paved the way for publicly funded abortion in Arkansas by changing Amendment 68 to the Arkansas Constitution that currently prohibits taxpayer funded abortion in the state.

Fortunately, the Arkansas Supreme Court disqualified the measure from the ballot after recognizing its sponsors failed to comply with state laws governing the initiative process.

This year Arkansas’ legislators also rejected measures that would have weakened the state’s pro-life laws.

The State of Arkansas has invested millions of dollars to help support women with unplanned pregnancies.

    That is something to celebrate.

In 1976 the French anthropologist Emmanuel Todd predicted the down fall of the Soviet Union. In After The Empire, first published in French in 2001, he predicted the (relative) decline of the United States.

In his latest (and last) book, La Défaite de l’Occident (The Defeat of the West), he laments the West’s inability to distinguish facts from wishes, as seen in its behavior during the war in Ukraine. Nihilism, a lack of values and of acceptance of reality, has infested western thinking:

Trans ideology is therefore, in my opinion, one of the flags of this nihilism that now defines the West, this drive to destroy not just things and people but reality.

Todd recently opened a substack where he is posting speeches and talks he has given.

Two of those, a recent talk given in Russia (in French) and one given in Hungary (in English) make (mostly) similar points.

The downfall of the Soviet Union led to deep psychological and societal dislocations in Russia. The defeat of the West, or ‘liberal democracy’,  is leading to similar consequences in Western societies.

While Todd had predicted the fall of the Soviet Union, he had not anticipated the consequences it would have for Russia:

But the collapse of Russia in the 1990s is something I would never have anticipated. The fundamental reason why I was unable to understand or anticipate the dislocation of Russia itself is that I had not understood that communism was not simply a means of organising economic activity in Russia, but also a kind of religion. It was belief that allowed the system to exist and the dissolution of that belief represented, of course, something at least as damaging as the dislocation of the economic system.

It took three decades for Russia to overcome the psychological dislocation that was the result of the destruction of its political and economical system.

Todd is suspecting that a similar process is currently happening in the West:

All of this has a bearing upon what is happening today. I will talk about two things in my lecture. I will talk about the defeat of the West, by which I mean something quite technical and specific, which is not very complex and has not surprised me. I had anticipated it, and to a certain extent it’s already under way in Ukraine. But we are now in the next phase, which is the dislocation of the West, and I have to say that, just as in the dislocation of communism, of the Soviet system, I am unable to understand exactly what is going on. The fundamental attitude that we need to have now is, I would say, an attitude of humility. Everything that’s happening, especially since the election of Donald Trump, surprises me.

I have been surprised by the violence with which Trump has turned against his Ukrainian and Europeans allies – or rather his vassals. The will of the Europeans to continue or restart the war – even though Europe is certainly the region of the world which would be most advantaged by a peace agreement – has also been a great surprise to me. We have to start from these surprises if we want to think properly about what’s going on.

I will discuss those surprises, some of which concern me a lot, in a later piece.

The defeat of the Soviet Union (and Russia) came after it had lost the economic war with the West. It had also lost a war in Afghanistan. The Soviet system had turned out to be a failure.

The West, or as Mearsheimer is arguing (vid), ‘liberal hegemony’, has been routed in Afghanistan. The attempts to ‘liberate’ Libya and Syria have failed to the point where the Western ‘war on terror’ launched against al-Qaeda has led to the installation of an al-Qaeda bigwig as the new president of Syria. The economic decline of the West is demonstrated by the rise of China. The West’s moral self-defeat of its ‘values’ can be daily witnessed in Gaza.

‘Liberal democracy’, the system of ideas that has for decades been the leading light of the West, has failed.

Like communism in Russia, ‘liberal democracy’ has not only an economic side but is also a kind of religion. The failure of this belief system is upon us.

The accumulation of defeat after defeat by the ‘liberal democracy’ system has led to a psychological breakdown, an internal dislocation of the West. This is now leading to irrational acts and to seeking refuge in wishful thinking.

Or, as Alastair Crooke is summarizing the phenomenon and warns:

The psychological dislocation caused by ‘defeat’ may explain (but not justify) the West’s ‘curious’ inability to understand world events: The almost pathological dissociation from the real world that it displays in its words and actions: It’s blindness – for example, to the Russian experience of history and to the long history behind Shi’a defiance in Iran. Yet, even as the political situation deteriorates … there is no sign of the West becoming more reality-based in its understanding – and it is very likely that it will continue to live in its alternative construction of reality – until it is forcibly expelled.

One of the things that I think would help the Ancient Mass in the best sense of the word is to allow the Liturgy of the Word to be expressed as it is in the Modern Mass.

As an aging priest, when I celebrate the Sung Ancient Mass, at no point do I sit down throughout the Mass.

That’s what I like about the Modern Mass. I sit down and listen to the readings prior to the Gospel.

So, my suggestion is that the Liturgy of the Word be celebrated in the AM as in the MM. No longer does the priest need to read the Scriptures at the altar in Latin. After the Collect, he goes to his chair and a reader reads the Epistle in the vernacular with the conclusion “The Word of the Lord” and the congregation’s response “Thanks be to God.”

The Gradual is chanted by the schola and there is no need for the celebrant to have to recite it also, although quietly.

The Gospel is proclaimed as it would be in the Solemn Sung Mass, facing northward but away from the altar.

    That’s it.

Now for the gravitational pull on the AM on the MM:

I will focus just on the Introductory Rite which in the MM is a disaster.

As the Official Chant from the Roman Gradual is chanted either in the original Latin or the Vernacular, the priest and ministers approach the foot of the altar for the traditional, but modified, Prayers at the Foot of the Altar. The only modification, though is combining the priest and ministers’ Confiteor into one recitation. Then they ascend to the altar for the priestly kiss and then incensing if used. As soon as the Entrance Chant is completed, without introduction, every goes directly to the Kyrie that returns to its 9-fold expression, followed, if prescribed, by the Gloria.

Then the Collect is prayed, with the traditional “The Lord be with you” preceding it.

The only other change would be to the “Lord, I am not worthy” which becomes three-fold again.

    There you have it.

Call it what it is: a panopticon presidency.

President Trump’s plan to fuse government power with private surveillance tech to build a centralized, national citizen database is the final step in transforming America from a constitutional republic into a digital dictatorship armed with algorithms and powered by unaccountable, all-seeing artificial intelligence.

This isn’t about national security. It’s about control.

According to news reports, the Trump administration is quietly collaborating with Palantir Technologies—the data-mining behemoth co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel—to construct a centralized, government-wide surveillance system that would consolidate biometric, behavioral, and geolocation data into a single, weaponized database of Americans’ private information.

This isn’t about protecting freedom. It’s about rendering freedom obsolete.

What we’re witnessing is the transformation of America into a digital prison—one where the inmates are told we’re free while every move, every word, every thought is monitored, recorded, and used to assign a “threat score” that determines our place in the new hierarchy of obedience.

The tools enabling this all-seeing surveillance regime are not new, but under Trump’s direction, they are being fused together in unprecedented ways—with Palantir at the center of this digital dragnet.

Palantir, long criticized for its role in powering ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) raids and predictive policing, is now poised to become the brain of Trump’s surveillance regime.

Under the guise of “data integration” and “public safety,” this public-private partnership would deploy AI-enhanced systems to comb through everything from facial recognition feeds and license plate readers to social media posts and cellphone metadata—cross-referencing it all to assess a person’s risk to the state.

This isn’t speculative. It’s already happening.

Palantir’s Gotham platform, used by law enforcement and military agencies, has long been the backbone of real-time tracking and predictive analysis. Now, with Trump’s backing, it threatens to become the central nervous system of a digitally enforced authoritarianism.

As Palantir itself admits, its mission is to “augment human decision-making.” In practice, that means replacing probable cause with probability scores, courtrooms with code, and due process with data pipelines.

In this new regime, your innocence will be irrelevant. The algorithm will decide who you are.

To understand the full danger of this moment, we must trace the long arc of government surveillance—from secret intelligence programs like COINTELPRO and the USA PATRIOT Act to today’s AI-driven digital dragnet embodied by data fusion centers.

Building on this foundation of historical abuse, the government has evolved its tactics, replacing human informants with algorithms and wiretaps with metadata, ushering in an age where pre-crime prediction is treated as prosecution.

Every smartphone ping, GPS coordinate, facial scan, online purchase, and social media like becomes part of your “digital exhaust”—a breadcrumb trail of metadata that the government now uses to build behavioral profiles. The FBI calls it “open-source intelligence.” But make no mistake: this is dragnet surveillance, and it is fundamentally unconstitutional.

Already, government agencies are mining this data to generate “pattern of life” analyses, flag “radicalized” individuals, and preemptively investigate those who merely share anti-government views.

This is not law enforcement. This is thought-policing by machine, the logical outcome of a system that criminalizes dissent and deputizes algorithms to do the targeting.

    Nor is this entirely new.

For decades, the federal government has reportedly maintained a highly classified database known as Main Core, designed to collect and store information on Americans deemed potential threats to national security.

As Tim Shorrock reported for Salon, “One former intelligence official described Main Core as ‘an emergency internal security database system’ designed for use by the military in the event of a national catastrophe, a suspension of the Constitution or the imposition of martial law.”

Trump’s embrace of Palantir, and its unparalleled ability to fuse surveillance feeds, social media metadata, public records, and AI-driven predictions, marks a dangerous evolution: a modern-day resurrection of Main Core, digitized, centralized, and fully automated.

What was once covert contingency planning is now becoming active policy.

What has emerged is a surveillance model more vast than anything dreamed up by past regimes—a digital panopticon in which every citizen is watched constantly, and every move is logged in a government database—not by humans, but by machines without conscience, without compassion, and without constitutional limits.

This is not science fiction. This is America—now.

As this technological tyranny expands, the foundational safeguards of the Constitution—those supposed bulwarks against arbitrary power—are quietly being nullified and its protections rendered meaningless.

What does the Fourth Amendment mean in a world where your entire life can be searched, sorted, and scored without a warrant? What does the First Amendment mean when expressing dissent gets you flagged as an extremist? What does the presumption of innocence mean when algorithms determine guilt?

The Constitution was written for humans—not for machine rule. It cannot compete with predictive analytics trained to bypass rights, sidestep accountability, and automate tyranny.

And that is the endgame: the automation of authoritarianism. An unblinking, AI-powered surveillance regime that renders due process obsolete and dissent fatal.

Still, it is not too late to resist—but doing so requires awareness, courage, and a willingness to confront the machinery of our own captivity.

Make no mistake: the government is not your friend in this. Neither are the corporations building this digital prison. They thrive on your data, your fear, and your silence.

To resist, we must first understand the weaponized AI tools being used against us.

We must demand transparency, enforce limits on data collection, ban predictive profiling, and dismantle the fusion centers feeding this machine.

We must treat AI surveillance with the same suspicion we once reserved for secret police. Because that is what AI-powered governance has become—secret police—only smarter, faster, and less accountable.

    We don’t have much time.

Trump’s alliance with Palantir is a warning sign—not just of where we are, but of where we’re headed. A place where freedom is conditional, rights are revocable, and justice is decided by code.

The question is no longer whether we’re being watched—that is now a given—but whether we will meekly accept it. Will we dismantle this electronic concentration camp, or will we continue building the infrastructure of our own enslavement?

As I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, if we trade liberty for convenience and privacy for security, we will find ourselves locked in a prison we helped build, and the bars won’t be made of steel. They will be made of data.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction) has launched a month-long June campaign pressuring 12 Republican senators to back the House-approved budget bill that defunds Planned Parenthood and major abortion providers.

The campaign aims to integrate the House’s pro-life language into the Senate version of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” which narrowly passed the House May 22. The Senate is now expected to revise the bill before it reaches the president’s desk in early July.

“Our message to our friends is simple: No matter what your concerns, work to get the House language in the Senate budget. That means cutting off Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion from our healthcare spending in the base text of the bill and for a minimum of 10 years,” SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins said last week. “Yes, there are many issues facing our nation, but don’t throw more than 400,000 babies out with the federal budget bathwater.”

SFLAction said the campaign targets senators reluctant to “set aside differences” and prioritize defunding the abortion providers, with Hawkins describing the list as including both “friends and sometimes foes.”

The 12 GOP senators, with varied records on life issues, include Sens. Shelly Capito, W. Va., Susan Collins, Maine, Ron Johnson, Wis., Mike Lee, Utah, Mitch McConnell, Ky., Lisa Murkowski, Alaska, Rand Paul, Ky., Rick Scott, Fla., Dan Sullivan, Alaska, John Thune, S.D., Thom Tillis, N.C., and Todd Young, Ind.

According to SFLAction, Collins and Murkowski have consistently supported abortion measures, raising concerns about their willingness to back a pro-life budget.

Meanwhile, some Republicans, including Sen. Roger Marshall, Kan., are pushing for deeper spending cuts, seeking to expand the House’s proposed $1.5 trillion in cuts to as much as $6 trillion, according to Fox News.

“Pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion,” SFLAction’s Hawkins said. “Our friends in the U.S. Senate need to know that pro-life voters will not forgive and forget the continued waste of our resources on Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion.”

Planned Parenthood’s 2023-2024 annual report revealed that the abortion vendor committed  402,200 abortions — up nearly 10,000 from the previous year — while collecting more than $792 million in taxpayer funds.

There are few things more “Catholic” in Catholicism than the pope, especially regarding the dogma of papal infallibility. Unfortunately, it’s also widely misunderstood.

Here are five common myths about papal infallibility:

    Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Myth 1: Papal infallibility means the pope is never wrong.

Truth: Papal infallibility means the pope can be infallible when he teaches a certain way, not that he is always infallible in everything he teaches all the time. He is only infallible when he, in exercising his Petrine office, intentionally teaches something definitively for the whole Church. It’s rare for popes to invoke this authority.

    Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Myth 2: It means the pope never sins.

Truth: Papal infallibility only regards doctrine, not the holiness of the pope. As our former pontiff, Pope Francis, humbly admitted, the pope is a sinful person who is in need of God’s grace and goes to confession like everyone else.

    Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Myth 3: It means the pope can make up new doctrines.

Truth: It’s actually the teaching of the Catholic Church that divine revelation ceased with the death of the last apostle. The only thing the Church’s magisterium, which includes the pope, can do is defend, explain, and clarify the Word of God. The pope is not capable of revealing “new” truths, only correctly interpreting what God has already revealed.

    Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

    Myth 4: It’s a modern invention.

Truth: Yes, papal infallibility was made a dogma in the 19th century – but it had always been believed by the Church. You can see it in the Church fathers, even as early as the second century, in the writings of Saint Irenaeus (Against Heresies, III.3).

    Caroline Perkins, ChurchPOP

Myth 5: It’s not in the Bible.

Truth: Jesus told Peter that he was the “rock” on which He would build His Church, and that the “gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” (Mt. 16) If the Church is built on Peter (the successor of whom is the pope), and the Church can’t fail, then that means the Holy Spirit will not let the papacy fail. That’s the essence of papal infallibility.

Would you add anything to the list?

California has earned a reputation for high taxes. Yet, this week there is a sign of hope for tax resistance in the state legislature. On Monday, the California Assembly voted unanimously to delay by five years a tax increase that had been set to go into effect on July 1.

AB 564 — the legislation approved by the Assembly — deals with delaying the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration’s impending increase of a state-imposed special tax on marijuana sales from 15 percent to 19 percent. The state tax is in addition to special marijuana taxes that local governments impose.

A March press release from Assembly member Matt Haney, the bill’s sponsor, presented several arguments supporting the stopping, or at least delaying, of the impending tax increase. The press release noted that “the licensed cannabis market” in California that “has been in a sharp decline as evidenced by plummeting sales and tax revenue” is at a disadvantage because of marijuana taxes already being lower in other states such as Michigan and Colorado. The press release further argued that the expected tax increase would cause marijuana businesses across the state to fail and could even significantly hinder tourism in California.

I January of 2019, I wrote about the threat high taxes in California posed to the then one year old legal recreational marijuana market in the state. HR 564, which still has to be considered by the state’s Senate and governor before it can become law, is a starting place for addressing this problem.

Delaying a marijuana tax increase does some good. But, ultimately, to enhance respect for freedom and increase wealth, the special marijuana “sin taxes” imposed by governments in California and across America should be eliminated.

The Trump administration rolled back a controversial Biden-era policy Tuesday that aimed to force emergency room doctors to perform abortions under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), drawing praise from pro-life leaders and religious liberty advocates.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the reversal in a press release, framing it as a move to protect both pregnant women and their unborn children.

“CMS will continue to enforce EMTALA, which protects all individuals who present to a hospital emergency department seeking examination or treatment, including for identified emergency medical conditions that place the health of a pregnant woman or her unborn child in serious jeopardy,” the agency stated. “CMS will work to rectify any perceived legal confusion and instability created by the former administration’s actions.”

The previous Biden-era policy, issued in July 2022 by then-HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, required doctors to perform abortions if they deemed the procedure necessary to stabilize a patient — even if it violated state pro-life laws or the doctor’s convictions.

In response, the  Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) filed a lawsuit earlier this year on behalf of the Catholic Medical Association, which argued that the mandate was a violation of conscience rights.

Following Tuesday’s announcement, ADF announced it was dropping the case, while praising the move as a win for doctors.

“Doctors—especially in emergency rooms—are tasked with preserving life,” said ADF Senior Counsel Matt Bowman. “The Trump administration has rolled back a harmful Biden-era mandate that compelled doctors to end unborn lives, in violation of their deeply held beliefs.”

Bowman emphasized that all 50 states already permit doctors to treat life-threatening conditions like ectopic pregnancies.

“Emergency room physicians can and do treat life-threatening conditions such as ectopic pregnancies, and every state allows doctors to do whatever is necessary to preserve the life of a mother,” he said. “Now, doctors will be able to perform their life-giving duties without fear of government officials forcing them to end life and violate their beliefs.”

Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America also celebrated the move.

“Led by Dr. Oz, the Trump administration has delivered another win for life and truth – stopping Biden’s attack on emergency care for both pregnant moms and their unborn children,” said SBA Pro-Life President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

Dannenfelser criticized former President Joe Biden’s policy for creating dangerous confusion, falsely suggesting that women in pro-life states could not receive critical emergency care.

“Democrats have created confusion on this fact to justify their extremely unpopular agenda for all-trimester abortion,” she said. “In situations where every minute counts, their lies lead to delayed care and put women in needless, unacceptable danger.”

The FBI’s anti-Catholic Richmond memo was distributed to more than 1,000 employees in FBI field offices across the country before it was ever leaked to the public by a whistleblower, according to documents obtained and revealed by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-IA, this week.

What is more, Grassley found that the FBI had “produced at least 13 additional documents and five attachments that used anti-Catholic terminology and relied on information from the radical far-left Southern Poverty Law Center,” according to a June 3 press release from the senator’s office.

Grassley also found that the FBI Richmond field office drafted an additional anti-Catholic memo that was going to be distributed throughout the entire Bureau “but was never published due to backlash following the Richmond Memo’s public disclosure,” the release states.

Grassley, who is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter June 2 to FBI Director Kash Patel recounting that he had sent multiple letters to former FBI Director Christopher Wray inquiring about the “preparation of the [Richmond] memo, its dissemination, the use of biased sources such as the radical Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), and later, the FBI’s misleading representations to Congress, including those of former Director Wray.”

The FBI did not adequately respond to these inquiries during Wray’s tenure, Grassley wrote.

Grassley’s letter to Patel also details that the FBI offices in Louisville, Portland, and Milwaukee were all consulted ahead of the Richmond memo’s preparation.

“The FBI’s recent production shows the FBI analysts in Richmond also consulted with the Louisville, Portland, and Milwaukee field offices as they prepared the Richmond memo,” Grassley wrote. “This included gathering information about Catholic traditionalist groups from the Louisville Field Office. That information appears to have informed a slide presentation at least one of the Richmond analysts produced referencing [Radical Traditionalist Catholics] RTCs’ supposed ‘core concepts,’ including ‘[c]onservative family values/roles’ and finding ‘radical-traditional Catholicism’s’ beliefs were, ‘[c]omparable to Islamist ideology.’”

In a June 3 statement, CatholicVote Cofounder Joshua Mercer emphasized that Grassley’s findings should cause shockwaves through the nation.

“In 2023, CatholicVote sued the Biden administration’s FBI to obtain copies of the documents that led to the infamous ‘Richmond memo’ authorizing agents to spy on Catholic churches,” Mercer said. “Thousands of heavily redacted pages and a lawsuit later, we learned that the FBI effort had involved at least four field offices – including Los Angeles, Milwaukee, and Richmond.”

“We now know that the FBI under President Biden launched a nationally coordinated effort to monitor traditional Catholics as ‘potential domestic terrorists’ because his administration perceived them as political enemies,” Mercer continued. “Our own government authorized the use of undercover agents to infiltrate our Catholic churches, parish schools, and even diocesan offices around the country.”

“This week, thanks to Senator Chuck Grassley, we learned the ‘Richmond memo’ was much worse than that,” Mercer said. “It was just one of 13 FBI documents and 5 attachments targeting ‘radical traditional Catholics’ and citing the Southern Poverty Law Center — an anti-Catholic hate group. Not only that, the memo was sent to over 1,000 FBI employees in at least three additional cities.”

“This frontal assault on the First Amendment should horrify every American – and it must never be allowed to happen again,” Mercer said. “CatholicVote calls on FBI Director Kash Patel to make public the measures his agency is taking to make sure these directives are immediately rescinded, their authors fired, and any ongoing surveillance of Catholics brought to a halt.”

As CatholicVote reported in 2023, Wray testified under oath before the Senate Intelligence Committee that he was “aghast” upon learning of the memo, which he described as “a single product by a single field office” that was immediately “withdrawn and removed from FBI systems.”

In his June 3 letter to Patel, Grassley wrote that “Wray’s testimony was inaccurate not only because it failed to reveal the scope of the memo’s production and dissemination, but also because it failed to reveal the existence of a second, draft product on the same topic intended for external distribution to the whole FBI.”

This internal draft, intended to be a Strategic Perspective Executive Analytic Report (SPEAR), repeated claims that traditionalist Catholics posed a threat of violent extremism, according to Grassley. Though never finalized, the report was circulated until FBI leadership ordered its deletion after national backlash resulting from the Richmond memo being leaked to the public.

“It was clearly a separate product, since it involved a different planned distribution to the whole Bureau, and a different chain of review, through the Counterterrorism Division,” Grassley wrote. “It also contained different content from the internal Domain Perspective, notably deleting references to the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

During his January confirmation hearing, Patel pledged to hold accountable those responsible for the persecution of Catholics and the destruction of records related to the misconduct.

Grassley urged Patel to identify the officials responsible for the deletion of the Richmond memo and requested a search for additional documentation and an update on whether any of the deleted files can be recovered.
