Evil too, will always be part of the mystery of the Church. And when we see what men, what the clergy have done in the Church, then that is nothing short of proof that he [Christ] founded and upholds the Church. If she were dependent on men, she would long since have perished.

Day's Links:
Many today will pick off the terrorist event in France as the top news, but in the greater scheme of things, the big event is the interview by Cardinal Burke given a few days ago, and which forms a substantial amount of today's links. In it he decries the feminisation of the Church and sees it as responsible for the man-problem in the Church - few men attend Church and those that do often seem non-committal. He also sees it as part of the reason why the family has broken down - with men not having a place in the Church and not being given manly role models, being taught not to take pride in their masculinity but to distance themselves from it - it is not surprising that men will not fulfill their natural vocation to be fathers and priests.
Some will argue against this, and see it as blaming women fro all the problems in the Church , yet this is not what the cardinal does . Since the Church's leaders are all men - at least in its structure - this criticism is aimed precisely at those bishops who cower awary from thei rmanyly duty. Whatever you may say about Cardinal Burke, he does not cower away from presenting the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church.
In any case, what is pleasing is that Cardinal Burke at the very least acknowledges that there is a problem whereas many other bishops and priests insist that things are all well, or that what we should have is more of the same which has co-incided with the greatest apostasy in the Church since the Arian crisis. May the LORD lead Cardinal Burke to great things, and vanquish his enemies!
