That Christianity gives joy and breadth is also a thread that runs through my whole life. Ultimately someone who is always only in opposition could not endure life at all.
Day's Links - 2014-04-18 - Good Friday

Day's Links:
This being Good Friday, on a short list of 2 days - the other being Easter Sunday - which vie for being the most important days in a year, there is a bit of reflection on what the day entails. I list a few:
- Priest Prepare for Traditional Catholic Good Friday Service - an article on how we should conduct ourselves in the Good Friday liturgy.
- Sheen: Good Friday meditation - an article on reflections by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
In "Continuing with the Pope Emeritus", Supertradmum writes about Pope Benedict's meditations on love. "Benedict notes that love means a fundamental "yes" to another person", "love states to another person, "it is good that you exist"". There are rather profound thoughts, opposed to the mere sentimentality which poses for love these days.
The only reason I have linkedd to the article "Time To Consecrate Russia" is to show how normally reasonable people - who see the evil their country and their regime is causing - can turn a blind eye to these evils when ther are committed abroad. Say whatever you want about the situation in Ukraine, but it cannot be denied that Mother Russia has behaved infinitely more honourably than the godless U.S.A. and godless EU. Everything that Pat wrote about Russia and its leadership can be written more truthfully about the current regime heading his country.
The Pope continues to cause scandal, so much so that we are now not surprised when he does it. In "POLL: 2014 Holy Thursday Foot Washing Rite – what happened?", commenters write about what they saw in the churches on Maundy Thursday's footwashing ceremonies. Louie Verecchio of Harvesting the Frurit of Vatican II explains the purpose and meaning of "The Washing of Feet".

Fr. Kloster. Inside the monstrance and tabernacle is Jesus, God Almighty, not His Name. Jesus and His Name are two different realities.
