“If you believe what you like in the Gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the Gospel you believe, but yourself.”

Day's Links:
Bishop Drainey has responded to a controversial article written in the heretical Tablet. Mundabor has written his thoughts on this. There is a charitable way of reading what Bishop Drainey wrote, although his choice of words was very poor. It would seem he was summarising what people's thougths were, and not what his own thoughts were. We should not forced into a charitable reading, all the same, and what a bishop says should be crystal clear any and every day of the week, especially when dealing with rag tag publications.
Pope Francis has used the phrase "Who am I to judge?" again. However, this time, it is quite clear from the context what exactly he means, unlike the last time, where the un-Christianity and un-charitableness of that statement could not be explained away no matter how hard his defenders tried. The Pope cannot be held hostage by the media such that he is never able to speak out of fear of being taken out of context. The context in this case is pretty clear, so I fail to see why there would be any controversy arising from it.
On this, the Solemnity of St. Joseph, patron saint of the Church and a man who more than any other appreciated self-giving love, it is fitting that I should run into Leila Miller's "What is so wrong with women's bodies?" . It is a thoughtful look at how feminists really hate all that is feminine and unique to women.
