My belief is that a certain Cardinal is behind this call by the German president. I don’t think he really cares one way or another. The president of Germany is just being used. This way the bishops can say “the president wants this.” Actually, Francis wis likely to use the same excuse.
I do not know anything about the pinhead president of Germany so I shall refrain from commenting on him too much. However, I do agree with Daniel P. Furey in that it is at least more than likely that either Cardinal Marx or another German episcopal wolf of a bishop edged him on to do this.
