I think that he is too smart for most of us... smart in a bad way, and that he DOES speak after thinking or knowing as it may be. We are worse off for thinking that he is less capable. He knows what he says. He knows what we know. HE IS THE POPE and a JESUIT. They are trained to measure their words like grains of sand.

The subverter of the Knight of Malta and much Catholic teaching as now taught, that is, wrongly or not taught, is likely testing to see if he can try corrupt another aspect of the Magisterium.

straight from the bologna school. The belief that a fine balance exists between good and bad and awareness of this issues some kind of virtue.

Crafty, Francis. Does he know exactly what he is saying or is he so poorly educated on things Catholic that his ignorance is extreme? Every Catholic worthy of the name knows Our Lady was sinless from her ,Immaculate Conception.

Revelation 13: 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.

Wording os important. Your headline is theologically incorrect. Mary born without sin does not equate to being born a saint. To be a saint there must be a proving ground meaning that a life must first be lived. No one is born a saint.

The Catholic Church believes that saints are ordinary and typical human beings who made it into heaven. In the broader sense, everyone who's now in heaven is … More

To be a saint is to be sanctified. Mary was sanctified at the moment of her Conception. Mary was a living saint. The context of the Pope's remarks indicate that sainthood was somehow "not easy" for Mary to attain. This is incorrect

Summa Theologicae III:27:4):
“I answer that, God so prepares and endows those, whom He chooses for some particular office, that they are rendered capable of fulfilling it, according to 2 Cor. 3:6: ‘(Who) hath made us fit ministers of the New Testament.’ Now the Blessed Virgin was chosen by God to be His Mother.

"Therefore there can be no doubt that God, by His grace, made her worthy of that office, according to the words spoken to her by the angel (Lk. 1:30,31): ‘Thou hast found grace with God: behold thou shalt conceive,’ etc. But she would not have been worthy to be the Mother of God, if she had ever sinned.

"First, because the honor of the parents reflects on the child, according to Prov. 17:6: ‘The glory of children are their fathers’: and consequently, on the other hand, the Mother’s shame would have reflected on her Son.

"Secondly, because of the singular affinity between her and Christ, who took flesh from her: and it is written (2 Cor. 6:15): ‘What concord hath Christ with Belial?’

"Thirdly, because of the singular manner in which the Son of God, who is the ‘Divine Wisdom’ (1 Cor. 1:24) dwelt in her, not only in her soul but in her womb. And it is written (Wis. 1:4): ‘Wisdom will not enter into a malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subject to sins.’

“We must therefore confess simply that the Blessed Virgin committed no actual sin, neither mortal nor venial; so that what is written (Cant 4:7) is fulfilled: ‘Thou art all fair, O my love, and there is not a spot in thee,’ etc.

Res ipsa loquitur.

Own comment:

It is difficult to know whether in his statements about the Holy Family, Bergoglio let his stupidity get the better of him, or whether he was being deliberately heretical.

I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and blame it on his stupidity, although I have often raised the question whether his stupidity is an act or whether he is as dumb as he seems. Most probably, it is a bit of both.

Still, I would be utterly shocked to find out that Bergoglio accepts any of the Marian dogmas, given that he has been no short of insults to the Holy Family ever since he was elected whatever-he-is.
