The signature of Bishop Fellay would, for most other popes, be a very sticky wicket, seeing how Francis has evident designs on sweeping the SSPX into the Church formally. Somehow, though, this pope seems unfazed, outside the reach of any embarrassment. His suggestions concerning European acceptance of Muslim "refugees," for example, have literally blown up in his face, but he continues issuing irrational defenses of his nonsense as if nothing untoward ever happened. There is a profound disconnect between this man and the realities that surround him, whether they be political, economic, or ecclesiastic.

That tells you two things. 1) Francis is pretty much shameless and 2) The necessary autonomy of Bishop Fellay and the other traditional bishops during this real crisis is necessary when the canonically regular bishops are complicit in the crisis.

Somewhat like St Athanasius versus all the other establishment, Arian bishops, who tried to kill him.
(I Visualise solitary Athanasius as the courageous, virtuous Gary Cooper character in the film "High Noon" --minus of course, the guns and the former mistress)

Does the Pope remind you of another political figure? The author of "What Happened?" maybe?

He wears his white suits better, but, yes, he does. A lot.

Maybe he'll come out with a book as well "What Happened?" part 2.

To me, he is Obama....an America hater trying to change our great country. Francis is doing the same with the Church...calling those who actually love and defend the Church as too rigid.

As soon as the letter appeared, +Rene Gracida, the very respected, holy, and wise Bishop emeritus of Corpus Christi, Texas on his blog requested publicly that his name be added to the list of signatories. His signature more than makes up for anything questionable about Bishop Fellay.

Make no mistake, the Marxist "liberation theology" wing of the Church, of which Francis is its leader, will not retreat.

They will strike back in a passive aggressive duplicitous manner. Predictions:
      1) Double speak - In one breath they will claim that pope hasn't promoted any of the heresies listed and then in the next breath promote said heresies.

      2) People will be demoted or transferred as punishment.

3.) Straw man arguments - They will misrepresent what the letter said to paint it in the worst possible light.

4.) Name calling - call the authors of the letter racist, bigots, rigid, etc

      Any other predictions?

Francis' flying monkeys [Rosica, Spadaro, Maradiaga et al., ] will go on the offensive, big time.

Meanwhile, Francis will pout and play the part of the put-upon merciful one, who's been unfairly attacked.
