I have acquaintances who climbed Kilimanjaro for “charity”. But the message of true charity got buried under mountains of tweeting, Instagramming, Selfies and shameless self-promotion on Facebook. These are type A people who compete with one another in worldly things: money, power, fame. “Charity” is just another way to show they are better than the next guy. When I was growing up, talking about your good deeds was considered in poor taste. Alas, today, it’s upside down.

Plus, the donation only helped them to pay their own holiday costs..
