Whenever Pope Francis delivers a good speech or homily, my natural instinct is to assume that someone else wrote it. This happened as Pope Francis opened what is officially the synod on the family, although many have come to see it as the synod against the family.
We had this piece on a judge reducing the sentence of a man convicted of raping a 3-year old girl on the account of that the rapist "did not intend to harm" the child. This is one of those stories which I would very much like to believe is a result of poor media coverage, of media sensationalism, so to speak. This being California though, it is more than likely true.
