Elaine Quraishi .. ”This is a blatantly racist statement. If the moderators of this blog are willing to post it, I would think they should appreciate other readers pointing out how racist it is so that it doesn't reflect poorly on the blog generally.“

Does it not occur to you that much of what you claim could be viewed as racist slurs against others?
Racism is tribalism.
White people and black people are, in equal measures racist.
It runs hot in everyone’s blood alongside pride, envy, gluttony, greed, lust, sloth, and wrath and we all know what they are and we all try hard to resist.
Who has succeeded and is innocent?
Only one – Christ.

Do you think there is any racism against white people? And if you do when are you going to complain about it? Do you think other races and religions carried out slavery before white people? Who do you think built the pyramids? Murphy and sons from Dublin?

Funny how racist the liberal left is to the current Home Secretary? A second generation Indian Hindu who has risen to hold a Cabinet Ministerial position, and the cultural Marxist left hate her guts and say she has betrayed her race and culture. An Indian and a woman becoming a cabinet minister. You would think the identity obsessed left would celebrate that. But no. The Guardian draw nasty cartoons about her, That’s your hypocritically anti racist left for you,

Having failed for a hundred years to get the working class to rise up and overthrow capitalism the intellectual liberal white chattering classes are now hiding behind identity culture, and hoping ethnic minorities will do the job for them. They may be disappointed, when many immigrants who are pro traditional family and small business reject their failed Marxist nonsense.

The leftist intellectual always wants someone else to do the hard work for them. As Orwell said The middle class liberal “would rather steal from the collection box in church than stand up for the national anthem.”

As well as re-supplying jihadist militias, US forces in Syria have been deliberately burning the wheat harvest there by dropping incendiaries from flights of Apache helicopters. It seems to be official US policy. Starve the country into surrender -- which just hap[pens to be yet another war crime, but.....
Meanwhile, in the US and UK politically-correct BLM demonstrators and politicians whine violently about alleged "racism" and statues they don't like.
And couldn't care less about all the death and suffering inflicted via Western sponsorship of sectarian terrorist militias.
Says it all, really.

I am slightly bemused by the hatred for Cecil Rhodes. What did he do that they don't like?

It is rather like the classic cameo from "The Life Of Brian": What did the Romans ever do for us? The answer given to that question would serve pretty well for Rhodes too.

He built schools and hospitals, and drainage systems, and gave the Blacks employment in his gold and diamond mines which enriched them beyond their wildest dreams. Apart from that he did absolutely nothing for them.

His main personal ambition was to build a railway line from Cape Town to Cairo. In the event he didn't get any further than what is now Zambia, but that doesn't mean there was anything evil or distasteful in the ambition, or the attempt.

Sorely lacking in all the ongoing madness is any mention of illicit drugs. I'd say that here in America, and likely elsewhere, the streets are violent because of a widespread drug culture. It's not guns, knives or other weapons, it's the drug dealing, the gangs, the addicts, and just about any social ill you can think of that's connected to drugs.

Is anybody paying attention to the "victims" that BLM mentions? It seems that virtually every single one of them has a drug connection. They're on drugs, they deal drugs, they front for drugs, they're mentally deranged from current or past abuse.

Police are called to where the crime is. Disadvantaged communities are overwhelmingly minorities, and thus it appears that African Americans are disproportionately singled out.

It's all for naught except for whatever political gains are intended. Of course, any particular case may contain an element of racism, and we should take note. Yet the bigger issue really is "systemic classism"- that is, poorer communities endure more crime.

The media is playing us because there is a very important American presidential election coming up. Biden is not doing so well Blacks himself, so the left needs to fan the flames, create unrest and tarnish Trump.

In case anybody hasn't noticed, the connection between recreational drugs, virtually all of the BLM "victims" and the current left-wing riots is astonishing.

The reason of course is what many of us already knew. Recreational drugs, specifically marijuana, may impart temporary or chronic mental alterations, that make some more prone to psychosis, psychotic episodes, even homicidal tendencies. The streets are violent precisely because of drugs.

The result is that more cops will be ambushed and murdered as we predicted on this blog years ago. A particularly egregious case is the recent shooting of a cop in Las Vegas, Nevada (where marijuana was legalized three years ago). The alleged assailant, Edgar Samaniego, with a history of marijuana as per arrest records, shot the officer in the head. The officer is now on life-support, paralyzed from the neck down.

The mixture of hate, anger and the drugs that liberals brought to mainstream society is indeed a volatile mixture that may lead to chaos.

Own comment:

The West , certainly with the U.S. in the lead, seems determined to engage in seld-destruction.

I do not know much of Cecil Rhodes, but a coloniser who gets a land named after him is highly unlikely to be a gentle or kind or even pleasant man. However, I very much despise shouts for bringing down statues, with authorities acquiesing to this. If a revolution takes over the country and the revolutionaries decide to topple statues then that is the prize of victory. Short of that, it is difficult to understand why anyone would take heed of protestors calling for the destruction of statues which were put up long before any of them - and in many cases their parents and grandparents - were conceived.

If these people hate the people up there so much then they can work hard and have their own statues put up, or statues of those they prefer. As the situation is now, it seems that any statue put up before yesterday is bound for destruction because the mob has ever-changing demands and when they are done toppling political figures, make no mistake, they will go for statues of the saints.

If they are given an inch they will demand the whole arm. This national self-abasement must stop, but it is nonetheless the predictable result of the sort of de-Christianisation we have been witnessing in the West for generations now.

Traditionalists are well in their right to say "I told you so. You made your bed; now lie in it!" Unfortunately, we do  not live on islands and we shall doubtlessly be caught in the crossfire and it would not even surprise me if we get the blame given the kind of idiotic political rulers we have, who give the thugs at the head of these kinds of movements a run for their money in terms of sheer stupidity and anti-Christianity.
