The good doctor had best be careful Mr Hitchens. Have you read the case of Beate Bahner? Respected lawyer she has been incarcerated indefinitely in a psychiatric for speaking out about this.

All the money Stateside (UK is not worthy of consideration) seems to be flowing towards the reintroduction of the Glass Steagall Act 1933 using Regulation Q

The original rule was created in 1933, in accordance with the Glass-Steagall Act, with the goal of prohibiting banks from paying interest on deposits in checking accounts. It also enacted ceilings on the interest rates that could be paid in other types of accounts.

The purpose of this was to limit speculative behavior by banks competing for customer deposits as it led to banks seeking risky means of profit to be able to pay the interest on these deposits.

It's the Economy stupid, springs to mind.

On the health side and whisper this but the echoes of before WW1 are gathering pace when we truly lost the best of a generation to scandalous propaganda of the invisible enemy who will tear everything you hold dear apart and presently with our push towards vaccinations I can't help but wonder if history is about to repeat itself except it won't be the end of a bayonet that eradicates the best and brightest on their march to sterilized peace but the sharp edge of the vaccination needle.

Good point about Germany being far better equipped than Italy or Spain. But one could make a similarly unfavourable comparison between Germany and ourselves.

...

"My question: What efforts are being made to make the population aware of these elementary differences and to make people understand that scenarios like those in Italy or Spain are not realistic here?"

Absolutely none, from what I can gather.

Thank you for publishing this letter, Mr. Hitchens. The hospital I work in, is half full. Medical wards are closed and the surgical wards are converted into isolation wards/C-19, which are literally mushrooming. Patients are often not positive but just "Covid query".The list of the co-morbidities of Cov19+ patients are lengthy, to say the least. A positive C19 patient told me yesterday: I had an aortic valve replacement half a year ago and have been going down ever since. It seems striking to me that we've been distracted from other illnesses. Plus elective surgeries have been put on hold.
There are also views from the epidemiologists: Dr. John Ioannidis and Prof. Knut Wittkowski re: perspectives on the pandemics. Although I wonder why the XR have gone strangely quiet or have I missed something?

...

Thank you for publishing this. Perspective is badly needed. However, the MSM propaganda machine is in full swing now. Fear mongering is at its worst. However, I will say this based on everything I have read and your blogs, the Government appears to be making this up as they go along. Firstly, we are not going to test, then we will introduce limited testing, then, we have enough PPE only it turns out the Govt failed to take up EU offers of procurement schemes for PPE and ventilators on three occasions. Then Matt Hancock says testing will be increased to 100,000 per day I believe, yet the day previously the Government said it did not have enough test kits as a chemical required was not in ready supply (chemical industry said it was and they could increase production). Then, in Hancock's half hour he announces he has cancelled the order for ventilators as the treatment of Covid 19 is more complicated (says who?). Then, Hancock says ah, we are not testing as many as we said we would for lack of demand. What? As you pointed out, the figures being put out there by the Government are all over the place, they are out of sync with the rest of the world and, as the hospital worker says above, patients are Covid queries rather than actual Covids. I have tried to do the math and they simply do not add up. The figures are grossly unreliable due to the fact we are not testing, are applying a different standard of death certification to the rest of the world and, the very age group which this affects, the 80yrs+ with comorbid conditions, are not being admitted to hospital but rather being left at home or in Homes untreated with GPs not visiting homes at all. So, where are the death figures coming from? The hysteria is unprecedented but the figures are largely based on stick your finger in the air and we'll come up with one sort of mathematics. You know, someone said on another blog "In 1939 we could have given up our liberties to save lives and let Hitler in". But we didn't do that, the generation that are now being neglected by the NHS and GPs are being left to die basically with comorbid untreated conditions are the same generation that fought for those liberties. Euthanasia/Eugenics by any other name. Benjamin Franklin said " Those who give up their liberty for a bit of security deserve neither liberty nor security". True in these times, oh so true. But, carry on leading the charge for common sense and facts - you are, almost on your own, doing an admirable job.

His five questions are valid and if Germany is a democracy, they need to be answered for the sake of all of the world’s countries.

Prof Bhakdi is still highly regarded by those in the virology community, but he was not party to the information given to the German government from all relevant qualified experts which was used to make its assessment of the correct response to the corona virus.

You made me smile. The idea that 'the German government', impressive though it may be in many of its functions, had privileged access to information on the virus that the wider academic community did not is a touchingly naive.

...

This makes frightening reading. If the professor is correct, it means this whole thing is a massive storm in a teacup and being handled in a most appalling way that will create untold damage.
We hear from various sources, usually those working in the hospitals, that the problem is over stated and that not all hospitals are full by any means. The constant media badgering over PPE supplies seems absurd in the face of this and it's more likely that the vast NHS can't organise PPE into the right places rather than there being a shortage.
The real threat is coming from the result of the lockdown actions of governments which hardly bears thinking about and the willingness of us to give up our liberty for safety which may never have been necessary at all.

Own comment:

There will always be some idiot who has swallowed government propaganda whole and who insists that everything must be shut down to prevent this and that.

What they never do is respond with facts or reason to the objections raised against the hysteria which has destroyed millions if not billions of livelihoods across the globe.

Once we have done that then we can get to the real issue: Whether the government has any right or authority to imprison innocent people and destroy their livelihoods so as to attempt to save other people.
