Occasionally, in the Conciliar Era, one can still find a prelate willing to advert to the Church’s teaching on this. Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, for example: “Evangelization is by nature universal and does not admit of a deliberate exclusion of categories of people to evangelize. The Lord did not say to us: “Preach the Gospel to all creatures, except for Muslims, Jews, and the Dalai Lama” …. Whoever were to shed doubt on the legitimacy or even simply the appropriateness of this unlimited and mandatory announcement, would commit the sin of intolerance towards us: this would mean to forbid us to be what we are, i.e., “Christians,” i.e., obedient to the clear and explicit will of Christ.”

I’m in so much trouble with Wifey (convert from Protestantism, family still there, albeit nominally) over this very point. Apparently it’s a rude and unnecessary thing to pray for her parents to repent, get back together, and convert.
