"And a man without a woman beside him - whether as a mother, as a sister, as a bride, as a working companion, as a friend - that man by himself is not the image of God." Say what? My mother is long since dead, my sister and I are nearly estranged and live nowhere near each other, I never married, I am retired and therefore have no female "working companion," and I live alone. Does that mean I cannot be in the image of God? In long years gone by, I had some inappropriate relationships. Do they count, your holiness?

Irregular unions count now, remember. God led you to that sin the Holy Father says, God likes watching people slip on banana peels and surprising them..... (the internet needs a sarcasm font, for all my posts truly....)

I concur about the usefulness of a "sarcasm font." Sometimes emoticons, what started out as "smilies" in the early days of the internet, can help. I post directly by the website, so I don't know whether posting via Disqus provides for emoticons or not. As for God leading me to sin and then surprising me -- whatever Bergoglio means by his God of Surprises!!! -- then why was it matter included in a forty year confession when I came back? (And believe me, a forty year confession was no picnic, even when the (Orthodox) priest and I sat in the back of the otherwise empty church so we could engage in the confession more "spiritually" and less rigidly.)

My mention of sarcasm font meant I was kidding. I'm making fun of those who push such doctrines. I am probably misunderstood all the time for comments like this. I'm being completely sarcastic. I don't agree one whit. I'm a traditional Catholic in every sense of the word. I was mocking the opposition.

It's part of the agenda of legitimizing a married priesthood.

Jesus said that some choose to live like eunuchs for the kingdom of God. Obviously He doesn't know what He's talking about. Fortunately we have Pope Francis to set us straight.

When there is a woman priest, then the gates of Hell have prevailed...there is no Catholic Church. Married priests is Francis-able.

    • Avatar

Well, then I guess the gates of hell prevailed, because it's so a done deal my friend. Maybe one of your original premises was wrong?

    • Avatar

It's NOT a done deal and Our Lord said that the gates of hell will NEVER prevail against the Church (c.f. Matt. 16: 16-18).

Female ordination by the Vatican will not end the true Catholic Church. That would prove that Jorge Bergoglio is evil and that the only fulness of the Catholic Church is in the SSPX, with Eastern Orthodox churches more fully catholic than Rome.

My understanding as a schoolgirl was that man was made in the image and likeness of God and woman the image and likeness of man. Am I remembering that wrong? But we know where this is leading. The male priesthood needs women. Frankly, if the Church I belong to has got it wrong for 2000 years in thinking priests can only be men, it ain't what I thought it was. A rubbish misinterpreting of the Words of Our Lord Jesus Christ by a bunch of incompetents (including the apostles )? . When will this nonsense end? The Second Person of the Trinity is not some clot who put the church into the hands of idiots and sat back wondering when on earth they'd get things right. And by an unbelievable coincidence, they're just starting to get everything properly interpreted right now ? Gimme a break!

Before I converted to Catholicism I was Episcopalian. Our old traditional, priest died and we got a woman priest, she was a disaster and almost split the church up. No women priests, and I’m female!

To the she-pope Francine: you go girly. (I like the "comment" at the end of the article. Such is also the Democratic party's pathetic strategy.) As an exploited man, I have learned that women do things first to impress other women and then second -- or maybe even third or fourth -- to please men. Unless, of course, the woman wants to try to manipulate him to do something for her.

So when does the Pope himself get a wife?

"But how many times do young women have to sell themselves as disposable objects in order to get a job? "
And this doesn't happen to men. Got it.

Holy Father, historically there have been many strong and influential women in civil society. In the religious sphere Holiness you will know their august and holy names.
The mantra that women are everywhere oppressed and abused is a ‘progressive’ secularist one which seems to imply that innate moral and intellectual freewill and the capacity to make rational choices is denied to them.
The notion of a weaker sex requiring our special ‘protection’, particularly from the wiles of men, is fundamentally rather sexist and condescending.

A couple of points, please bear with me:
First - this is the laughable leader of the world's Catholics who announced that God wouldn't be able to exist if there was no "man" He needs US to survive!!!!
Second - "God made man in His own image and likeness" means Mankind..... men AND women. Ergo very individual is made in God's image and likeness; ergo all are equal ergo one gender is not reliant on the other.
Third - Within the equality given by God there are roles specifically designed for some like motherhood and nurturing for women; while the men are breadwinners and protectors but BOTH are mutually necessary and beneficial for the fabric and future humanity and society aka The Family or alternatively celibate priests choose to do without the above and spend their lives ministering to the Faithful and keeping family life sacrosanct. They do so for the love of God and their neighbors.
This sad but vengeful pope shouldn't be allowed within 100 feet of anyone who loves their faith, particularly the young and gullible.

Own comment:

Just when you think Bergoglio cannot do more to suck up to leftists and feminists he goes out and outdoes himself in idiocy. This time he claims that women are pretty much always victims, and that men need women to be "the image of God", whatever that means in his twisted mind.

To be fair, he has said such things before, so it is not new, although this is more or less the first time he has combined such nonsense in a single sitting, this time in interview form.
